It's been 13 years since HiredAssassin called Merr a skank. I think we should renew this tradition. I just happen to log on and this is what I come to? 13 years seems wrong...but I guess my middle kid is 13 and he was a baby when I first started chatting on the WB boards. It was 2006.

Library stories!
A person was talking loudly on the phone yesterday and I heard this person say something about being told to choose one gender or another, which this person was not willing to do.
I was so relieved Wednesday when I got to the library downtown. For several weeks there had been tables on the main floor that children had written all over. I told them I didn't like it. The tables were normal again. Why they couldn't limit that to the children's room I don't understand.

One of my Merr-colored towels is falling apart! It's the prettiest one!
For those who do not recall, I bought four hand towels in four different colors I liked. Shortly after that Merr posted four carpet samples on her web site. Guess what colors they were?

I actually do have some towels that match shoes. Penn & Teller this week had a magician whose tricks involved what looked like Converse Chuck Taylors.

Just about 3 weeks until we take the entire family to Hawaii as our "Christmas presents" this year. I'm starting to get nervous and I'm making all sorts of lists of things to do and to remember to pack and stuff we still need to buy. And double checking that we do in fact have plane tickets and a rental car etc. I've wanted to take a family vacation like this for years, we'll see how it goes and then I'll decide if it was a good idea or not. haha

Sounds fantastic! :-) Our whole family, me, Kevin and the 3 kids. Our friends that own the land next to us are coming as well, just the husband and wife. They brought their kids last Christmas and the 2 youngest (11 and 9) complained so much they vowed to never bring them back. We aren't necessarily spending every moment with our friends though, we'll be doing our own thing sometimes. We've only "planned" a few things for sure while there. Everything else we just have a list of what we'd like to do and it will happen on whatever day we feel like once we get there.

"Gilmore Girls" fans: two wins for actors and a nomination for director.
You have to see Tony Shalhoub's speech.

"Gilmore Girls" fans: two wins for actors and a nomination for director. You have to see Tony Shalhoub's speech. What did Tony Shalhoub win for? "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel". He kept thanking the Palladinos, as if each time he thanked one or both, he was referring to a different person or persons from the person or persons he thanked previously. Library story! I go to this one library every couple of months. It has access to newspaper articles I can't see anywhere else except at the beach (no time there) and the college I graduated from. I was there a long time looking at articles I avoided because I didn't want to run into the limit on the number of free articles. And I can't cheat with this one paper. Also, there were a few articles in other papers I couldn't find on their web sites, so searching by date was the only option, and that's only possible using this resource. So I'm still there when all these noisy teenagers show up. They can't put the group in a room because the room is occupied by children, so they're just out there in the open discussing all sorts of topics, with a leader directing the discussion. It drove me nuts. I was trying to read real newspapers after that and I finally had to find a place away from them.

The more I learn about it, the better it seems to get. The cast alone sounds fantastic.

Merr, there's one show I've been watching where a woman seems to be collecting husbands and gets called a Mormon. Of course, that would be backwards. I wish I could remember the show and exactly what was said.

I don't think we have the smiley I need for that so I ju8st spelled the word. Abishola's husband stayed in Nigeria where he could still be a doctor or whatever he is. Abishola's family want her to marry a rich white man (Bob) and I think one of her friends accused her of collecting husbands.

Maze, Dorothy's first husband has left us.
No, not the one who said, "It's me, Stan." She would tell him, "God'll get you for that."

Hi, Tanmi. No, I don't watch shows like that.
Maze, I have a library story that might interest you. I told the woman at one of the two-year colleges I thought I would be back on Halloween, until I realized that one pair of shoes I had was darker than I had remembered, and I believed those shoes were a different color from the ones I saw in the store. I wanted to wear orange shoes on Halloween. My intention was to avoid the night the kids come to the library in the county where I live. Fortunately, I said at the other two-year college I would not be there on Thursday because of the kids downtown. I was told that was yesterday. So I didn't go back downtown. I can do whatever I want on Halloween. I didn't wear the shoes I needed to compare with the ones in the store because it had just rained and I didn't want to mess up brand new shoes. So I put a shoe in the car and it turned out they were a different color. So I ordered that color. I told the woman at the first two-year college some of this. Usually when I leave I ask her or whoever is there if the library will be open the next time I come there.
So she asks how many pairs of shoes I have. I can't possibly give an exact number, but here is my attempt. These are regular Converse Chuck Taylors only. No dress shoes, but I rarely wear those. There are also two other pairs of Converse shoes each made of a different material than the usual style that I bought several months ago to wear in the rain or when mowing wet grass.
Gray: 2 pairs Brown: 7 pairs Yellow: 5 pairs including two pairs I can't find Orange: 5 pairs Green: 16 pairs Blue: 12 pairs Purple: 8 or 9 pairs depending on how you classify Sapphir Red but not pink: 7 or 8 pairs depending on how you classify Sapphir Pink: 5 counting the ones I ordered but I don't know if they arrived White: 4 (at least) not counting those without mates because those were thrown out and for all of these I wore to mow wet grass, so they don't look white
This doesn't count the numerous shoes on the back porch for wearing to walk for exercise or do yard work because they're so old and beat up. Many of those I can't even identify by their original color.

Hi kittens!! How are you? It's cold here in MI. Ugh! Why so soon? Merr, hope you had a great time in Hawaii. Anyone watching "Evil"? Hey Tanmi!! We had a great 65 degree day on Saturday at the cabin for our annual hay ride with family and friends. We woke up Sunday morning to SNOW!! It's snowing again today too and it's sticking around because it's so cold. We've have a few years of warm Halloween's, but this year is going to be back to coats covering up everyone's costumes! We did have a good time in Hawaii and I'm glad we went, but I'm not likely to take the kids anywhere like that again. They had a good time, but if you ask them, they would almost have rather just stayed home. I feel like I should be watching Evil. I've only heard great things about it now that it's airing. It didn't seem interesting to me when I was deciding on new shows to watch this season. I'm loving Stumptown. I've also started Prodigal Son, Nancy Drew and The Unicorn. But I'm behind already on everything. Good to hear from you. Hopefully you can survive the cold.

I love her advice.... and agree! If you're going to put out your expensive china for a dinner party, you take the risk of having it break for WHATEVER reason! Even if somebody gets mad and flips the table. Are you thinking there's a little "Emily" to be found?
