I know they've used the song before, but the version in the show has a weird vocal change that I haven't been able to find in various recordings I've listened to. I was hoping to get some official confirmation on the version/artist, but that hasn't happened yet.

Could you be more specific, taltos? I listened to it here and thought it sounded about the same: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FYAW_6kAEw. I'm presuming it's the one available at Amazon on their album, but with 30s samples it's always hard to be sure.

In the episode version, about 6 seconds after Sam finishes saying "So help me God", there is a change in vocals to a much deeper voice that sings "Well, I can't find my way home". That's the part that doesn't seem to match the versions I've listened to, including the YT link you provided.

I hear the distinction now--it sounds most like the fifth or last repeat of that line in the series at the end, but still it differs from both of them. I also heard a small but present difference at the end of "... just ain't got the time": in the album version Winwood clearly cuts off singing at the end, whereas in the SN version he trails off a bit. The pacing seems slightly slower in the SN version, too. Interesting. I wonder just what version they used and where they found it, because the differences are slight.

Guys, it costs 20000 dollars to use songs in movies or tv series. So they contact with an artist and he could give another version or just make another version for them. It's pretty simple. But the fact is - it's the same artist.

There are actually music libraries whose whole basis is to provide copycat versions of songs by major artists. I came across this with a song in Smallville. Everyone thought it was the original artist, but it ended up being a cover by a virtually unknown singer. That's why I was hoping to get official confirmation, but it doesn't look like that's happening. It sucks that The CW stopped posting the song lists back in season 7.

I bet most people hearing "Can't Find My Way Back Home" by The Drunk Whisperers would assume it's the Blind Faith version, as the vocal and instrumentation differences are very subtle if you're not listening for them.

One more question: 9x18 Is it Mouret's Rondeau or Fanfare Rondeau? Cause on first page with list song it's fanfare, but you've send Mouret's Rondeau.

They both refer to classical composer Mouret's Fanfare Rondeau, one is just a specific version. Novi Novog's version came up when I shazamed the episode while looking for which version to add, and it does seem to match what can be heard at the beginning Meta Fiction (there are lots of different instrumental mixes, but that one is more string instrument dominant like the ep). I'm not 100% sure it's the one used, but it does sound like it.

I don't think so. The lead singer's voice seems higher than the one in the episode and he vocalizes the words differently.

I'm betting it's either some obscure Blind Faith version or a completely unknown artist/singer doing a 'sound-a-like' production.
