Here's an easy one. Don't forget the others.
What mathematical symbol can you put between 4 and 5 to result in a number greater than 4 but less than 6?

Here's a hard one. Unfortunately, no one seems to be trying any of the recent ones, and some of those are easy.
A new maximum security prison has 23 cells, each occupied by one man. 23 prisoners are transferred to the new facility. No prisoner will have any contact with any other prisoner, except for a strategy session in the first few minutes when all the prisoners are processed.
The warden meets with the entire group and explains that in one room are two switches which appear to be light switches but they actually connect to nothing. Each one has an up position and a down position. He will not say what position either switch is in.
From time to time, the warden will pick a prisoner to go to the switch room. That prisoner must change the position of one of the two switches. No one else will be allowed into the switch room. All of the prisoners will enter the room an equal number of times, but the same prisoner can be taken to the room as many times as the warden likes before another prisoner goes.
At some point one of the prisoners may figure out that all prisoners have gone there. If he states this to the warden and is right, all the prisoners go free. If he says it and is wrong, they are all executed.
What should the prisoners talk about in their strategy session?

Using matchsticks, create the equation 23/7 = 2 in Roman numerals. How would you make this expression true by moving one matchstick? You cannot merely make the equals sign an inequality. Hint: the value of one number will be accurate to two places beyond the decimal.

Using matchsticks, create the equation 7 = 1 in Roman numerals. Now move one of those matchsticks to make the equation a true statement. When I say equation, I do mean you cannot cheat and make the equals sign a not equals sign.

Is anyone ever going to get any of these?
This one's easy.
You need two gallons of water. Your only containers are one which holds seven gallons and one which holds 13 gallons. How do you measure two gallons?

Seriously?
Okay, here's a harder one.
A new house has no lawn. A man buys the house and installs what is called miracle sod. For the size lot he has, it will create a complete lawn in 30 days. Each day the area covered by grass doubles. After 30 days the process must be stopped by the "antidote" or the grass will cover the entire neighborhood in no time.
But this is not enough for the man. He orders twice the amount of miracle sod to have a lawn that much faster. Why is this not a good idea? Or to be more specific, on what day will he have to use the "antidote"?

A university study found the safest time of year to drive. When only one state was studied, the university found that absolutely no traffic accidents had ever occurred during this time of year. When the study was expanded to nationwide, only a few accidents were found during this time period.

On a table matchsticks spell out 11 + 1 = 10 in Roman numerals. What is the minimum number of matchsticks that must be moved to change this to a true statement?

That wasn't the way I was thinking of, but close enough. But how can you do it without a mirror? Look through the paper on the other side. Look through what paper? When did I mention any paper? Okay, one last one for the summer. A couple go to a fancy French restaurant on a Wednesday, when it is less crowded than on the weekend. They see that there is a buy one meal, get one meal free special for any couple celebrating an anniversary that night. Once they have been seated, the waiter comes up to them and says, "Ma nam ees Jean-Claude aind A'll be your wetter." The husband says, "My good man, we were married on a beautiful Sunday 28 years ago today. We wish to take advantage of your special deal." The waiter says, "Liars! Get out of ma raystrawnt." Why did he do this?

1026 people are in a room. One says to another that he will flip a coin 10 times. He asks the other if anyone in the room can predict exactly how many times the coin will land heads or tails. If the other person can find someone in the room who gets the number exactly right, he wins a million dollars from the man flipping the coin. If not, the other person has to go to work for a year for the man flipping the coin, doing all his dirty work.
Should the second man bet?

A couple of new ones.
A carousel has a floor that needs to be painted. The paint is very expensive so the calculation must be exact. The floor is a circle with the carousel's equipment in a circular area in the middle. To measure the circle, it is only possible to use a tape measurer along a chord that is tangent to the equipment area. How do you determine the amount of paint needed?
An officer is sent to a new air force base. The first street sign he sees after entering the residential area is Golf Street. His home is on the second street beyond that. What are the two most likely possibilities for the name of the street?
