That conniving woman! At least a Warrior Woman does not need to worry about her husband straying. Inara was so very worried about Mal. She can't deny it to herself at least. The Good Night Kiss. Inara protests too much. That woman knows ships very well. Jayne: That's why I never kiss them on the mouth. Jerk! Shepard: Saffron married beneath herself. I guess Wash doesn't want to hear about sex because Zoe is not being affectionate. Actually, Wash said 'anyone who's not talking about sex should leave.'

Even I want the Shepard to shut up about the accusation and the special hell kind of thing... christians are not (or at least shouldn't be) that judgmental and accusing! That's just a stupid stereotype. Ah, but Shepard is much more mysterious than your normal preacher. Think about how simply mentioning his name got him treatment on that Alliance ship last time. He's really just poking fun at Malcolm afterwards, with those lines. That's true...

What! No, that's what you would say! Watch it again. I swear, this is the funniest show I've ever seen, and the very thing that Fox was upset about, Malcolm and the crew's not being your typical cliched heroes are the very thing that makes it excellent.

Watch it again. I thought you were kidding! I guess I heard what I expected to hear. I will let you know what I hear second time around. If you are correct, I'll fall off of my seat.

I can't find the quote... but I'm pretty sure he said something like: Anyone not talking about sex come over here, the rest of you should leave. You're the one who would say "Anyone not talking about sex should leave" Moon.

Isn't it interesting that Mal thought it more likely that Inara kissed Saffron and it did not cross his mind that Inara kissed him? Inara's shocked expression was funny also. Mal knocked the lights out of Saffron, but she had it coming. Really good episode. Favorite parts: Pretty floral bonnet Zoe's marksmanship Jayne getting drunk and maudlin and hugging the man Shepard's Special Hell comments Mal's Special Hell comment Wash's dialogue Jayne scaring Mal with the gun Mal being seduced with Bible verses I should say I liked everything.

I loved this episode! I even looked up some of the terms in my own bible, the ones Moon questioned, because I'm curious (I'm only a newborn in Faith), and the only mentions of those term is about labor, like work... so, it's either made up, misinterpreted, or the Shepard is not who he says. Could be the combination or all... I don't know.

I love that at the end, just when you think Malcolm's getting smart, he's such a guy. Plus, he knocked Saffron out. Fox musta loved that. There was a point in starting the dvd up where they flashed up a line like 'the views heard on this dvd are not necessarily those of Fox television' and I thought to myself 'thank god!!!'

Close enough. I have it paused at that spot. "Everyone not talking about sex - in here! Everyone else - out there!" I still think MisterMoonlight is teasing us.
The videoclip is hilarious. I had never heard that story, and I can see how an interesting story like that would spread rapidly.

On youtube, I've seen comments about how Fox deserves to be in that special level of hell in response to the theme song, the one I posted in the official firefly thread. I think I agree...

I was talking about what Saffron said. But about what Shepard Book said, there's not really different levels of hell, and no special level of hell, just plain hell, all one level, and torturous to all that ends up there. Here's a website where you can search the terms: www.biblegateway.com/

The videoclip is hilarious. I had never heard that story, and I can see how an interesting story like that would spread rapidly. Oh, it did. It became a huge thing. It just took off. The Firefly fans set up a website to help him, and had gotten up to a million dollars in pledges before he asked them to please not do it. I gotta say, when I really try, I can be funny, but Joss Whedon puts me to shame. That episode was just damn perfect, and everything was so witty, plus you learned more about the characters, because he's an expert at sneaking in exposition without you realizing it. Jayne's hat off to him. (You'll learn more about that in an upcoming episode.)

Dante was an amazing Italian poet. If you want to know more about the 9 levels of hell, he is the orginal source, and yes, it's fiction. Wonderful, beautiful fiction, though.

Chloe, Chloe, Chloe
Even if you thought Shepard was serious at first, when he said that people who talk in theaters were going to a Special Hell, that hilarious comment was a dead give-away that he was joshing.
MisterMoonlight's task is to point out when people are joking so that you don't miss the subtle humor. That's what makes the show so much fun.

And by the way, purgatory is actually fiction too... as well as the 9 levels of hell... What I mean by that is that purgatory is an accepted tradition in the Catholic Church, but you're right, it does seem to be fictional in origin, arising from the tradition of praying for the dead, which predates even Christianity. But all world religions have a special place in hell for those who talk during movies. Unless they're really, really funny.

My grandmother used to be Catholic... she's baptist now, as well as her children, grandchildren, etc... and has told me that purgatory is what the Catholics believe and she also tells me that Catholics have misunderstood parts of the bible. And I thought Christianity predated everything, or is that Judaism? Wait, I think you are right about that part, I'm not sure when Christianity started, but even Jesus was Jewish.

Well, you're right in that it was a Jewish custom, but you probably also know that praying for the dead goes back way before that. Just look at the elaborate plans the Egyptians made for enabling the journey into the afterlife.
