Okay zombie-maniacs, we're coming up on the end of season 3. We've lost quite a few members (Lori, T-Dog, the entire prison gang) and found our group seemingly trapped in what they thought would be a safe haven: the prison.
It looks like the governor doesn't want any outside groups too near his town and intends to take out our intrepid little group.
Who do you want to make it to live another day to fight the dead? All of them? Just one or two? Choose your favorites!

I love this poll! SoCal, thanks for creating it. Reason for my choices:
Rick, in spite of his hallucinations, has been tough and has done a terrific job of keeping the core group together. Daryl- the bow is a phallic symbol. Carol (write in) can't die until she and Daryl hook up for real. Carl is the toughest kid on the block. Michonne has to reveal the story of her two walkers. Glenn has tolerated a lot of crap and pulled through to be a bad-ass. Maggie should be the one to kill the governor and she might be carrying a playmate for Lil Ass Kicker. Tyreese- to prove a black man can survive the apocalypse. Judith needs to make it to a DNA testing site.

I can't believe I left Carol out of the poll. I just love her character. He lousy husband dies and then her little girl and she still keeps chugging along, even gentling Daryl.
I agree with your list 100%

We also left out Beth, Herschel's younger daughter. Ok, here are the only two people I did NOT vote for: The Governor and Merle. The first is just downright evil incarnate and the second a badass crazy racist redneck who has no moral compass whatsoever. I'd like to take the extra step and give you not only the reasons I'd like the others to live, but also play devil's advocate and also list why they should not. Sound like fun? Carol: She's endured amazing pain between her jerk husband and losing her daughter, yet she's right there taking care of others, washing clothes, preparing food, giving a kind word when it is needed. She has naturally bonded with most of the other females in the group. Plus, we think she shares a special relationship with Daryl. WHY SHE SHOULD DIE: We all want to see Daryl go batshit crazy on someone. Killing Carol would do it. Rick: He's the protagonist. The entire story in the comics and the series is from his perspective. His whole goal was finding his wife and son, and protecting them, no matter what. His training as an officer of the law led him to a natural role as a leader among the group. WHY HE SHOULD DIE: Power has gone to his head. He established the Ricktatorship. His son is smarter than him about group dynamics. Plus, he's been pretty crazy, hallucinating seeing his dead wife more often than he admits. In the comics her carries a phone, plugged into nothing, on which he has conversations with her. Daryl: In spite of it being Rick's story, he's the breakout character we all love. He does not exist in the comics. WHY HE SHOULD DIE: He's the character we like most. If there's ever a sense that no one is immune to death, his would shake us to our core. Carl: He is literally the promise of survival of mankind. There can be none if the children are killed. Plus, he's really come into his own lately, being forced to grow up from being a kid to being a man at an all-too-early age. Plus, he's a damn good shot with a gun. WHY HE SHOULD DIE: His mother--did he shoot her or did something else happen? We're still not quite clear about that. He is directly responsible for Dale's death. The same walker that eviscerated Dale is the one Carl taunted in the swamp, failed to kill, and who went on to shockingly kill Dale. Michonne: Because every good story needs a badass black samurai woman. She's a survivor, and has figured out a way to stay safe while traveling by imprisoning walkers on chains, and whom she has made safe for humans by removing their lower jaws. She took Andrea in,and taught her how to survive. WHY SHE SHOULD DIE: She's not a team player, and never has been. She killed The Governor's zombie daughter and all of the heads in fish tanks in his bedroom. He wants revenge on her more than anyone else. L'il Asskicker AKA Judith: She's L'il Asskicker, that's reason enough. WHY SHE SHOULD DIE: We've seen zombie children before, but never a zombie baby. Glen: His greatest asset from the beginning has been his intelligence and street smarts (from delivering pizzas). Plus he's in love, and, for mankind to survive, love must survive as well, or else we're not human. WHY HE SHOULD DIE: His vision has narrowed since getting involved with Maggie and Herschell. The same love that made him a warrior causes him to no longer see things in terms of the group as a whole, but rather, those who are most important to him. Maggie: In spite of all odds, she found love in the apacolypse. Her love gives her strength to survive, plus she's no slouch as a med tech because of her training with her dad. WHY SHE SHOULD DIE: Her near-rape by The Governor could cloud her mind. If she had to choose between her dad, who is a doctor, and Glenn, who would she pick? Hershel: He's a doctor, dammit. Plus he's now the voice of reason, and one of the few people Rick trusts. WHY HE SHOULD DIE: It happened to Dale, the last guy who was the voice of reason. Plus, he's a doctor, dammit, and killing the doctor puts them back into a load of trouble. Tyreese: Seems to be a thoughtful dude. Just wants to do whatever is necessary to protect himself and his people. A fan favorite in the comics. We left out all of his group but him. WHY HE SHOULD DIE: The new guy and group. We don't really care enough about them yet for it to make much difference. Andrea: Michonne sees something in her. Andrea saw her sister die in the first season, and as a former civil rights attorney tries to see all points of view. She wants to believe the best about people. She now knows The Governor must die. WHY SHE SHOULD DIE: She was blind to the fact that The Governor was evil till just now. She shot Daryl (but also became a damn good shot after that.) Lots of folks hate her. Ok, that's it. My list. Did I leave anybody out?

MisterMoonlight, I enjoyed your superb reasoning, and yes, it was fun. If Beth survives, she can keep their spirits up by singing camp fire songs. If she dies, Carl *repeat what you said about Daryl re Carol* I absolutely agree that Daryl’s death would shake us to our core. I think I would literally go into mourning. Did you vote for Milt's survival? Why, may I ask? I know I will have more comments on this. It's very interesting.

I knew I was leaving someone out, and Milton was the one!
The character Milton Mamet must be named for David Mamet, and that's almost enough to kill him for. But, of course, we'll get to the reasons why he should die later. I voted for him to live, and here's why:
Milton: is first and foremost a scientist, and we're gonna need them to be able to ever survive the holocaust. (Extra points because he didn't blow himself up like the CDC guy in Atlanta.) At first he was nose to the grindstone just trying to figure things out with how the virus worked. The Governor gave him that leeway so that he could figure out a way to save his daughter.
Milton seems meek and mild, but he's got a big brain. While it was necessary for him to be removed from the day-to-day problems of the world in The Walking Dead , Andrea has forced him to see the truth. If he dies, so does a certain amount of hope in ever understanding how to combat the problem. Plus, he's shown us he has a conscience.
WHY HE SHOULD DIE: He's a short-timer because The Governor already knows he torched the attack-zombies, plus the actor has accepted a role on a TV series on CBS.
Thank you for challenging me to this Anti, it was fun.

MisterMoonlight, you are welcome, and I know you enjoy a challenge.
They do need someone to focus on finding either a cure or prevention; otherwise, there is no hope of them ever enjoying life. Since the actor has accepted another role, I will look forward to him dying heroically while rescuing Andrea. Heck, if he rescues Andrea, she might become his mate; who knows?

Here is my prediction. Milton knows where the window to the torture room lies. He will see Andrea in there and die trying to protect her.
Just when The Governor thinks he is safe, we see Michonne enter the room.

I wonder if maybe a few episodes from now they might kill off Rick it sounds crazy but with him losing his mindand the way they are portraying deryl and making us love him i just wonder if they are preparing us to accept deryl as the leader and with Ricks increasing insanity they are preparing us to be more willing to lose him as a leader

Yes, in the comics it was a romantic and sexual relationship. Dale survived much longer, as well. At the prison it was he, not Hershel who was bitten by a zombie and had his leg amputated.
Andrea was a much more sympathetic character in the comics. She never had a romantic relationship with The Governor, and was a crack shot, often helping save the group with that skill. She also never had a relationship with Shane in the comics. Lastly, she was simply a law clerk in the comics, and not a civil rights attorney.

Dale was very possessive of Andrea and I wondered if he wanted more than friendship from her. Dale's conversations with Andrea fall more in line with MisterMoonlight's explanation of their relationship in the comics. I often wondered what was really going on between them. A law clerk is a much more sympathetic character than a lawyer, for me anyway.

Beth isn't really much of a character. I really know nothing about her so leaving her off the list of survivors doesn't bother me. All I remember about her was she wanted to commit suicide at one point and became catatonic after her zombie mother was put down. Other than that, she's been not much more that a walk-on.

The only reason I see for Beth on the show is to represent innocence. I don't expect everyone to step up like Carl has but Beth does not seem like someone we would miss. I remember when she was catatonic and I felt no sympathy at all. It just seemed unfair to me that some people get to play victim while everyone else shoulders responsibility. I know people like that in RL and it probably affects my view of Beth.

I don't think the fans would ever buy it, unless they did it as a spin-off. Nice out-of-the-box thinking though. ;D

Michonne, Maggie, Glenn (he better not ever die) Daryl, Carol, Judith, Carl (like he'll ever die) and Carol. Why wasn't she in the poll?
And I don't think Andrea is at all slutty. :/ She annoyed me with the way she chose to trust the gov over Michonne but once she discovered what an animal he was she tried to leave and join Rick and gang.

I say it's Li'l Asskicker who takes The Governor out, with a special baby-size Samurai sword, crafted by Michonne.
