Wow, they changed the radio station (in the book) from a fundamentalist christian AM station to a rock and roll FM station.
Part of me is disappointed, as that added another whole level of craziness to the story.

It DOES look like a movie!
And it moves right along at a brisk pace...
In the I-called-it-before-it-happened (without having read the book) catagory:
... the "wacko-crazy guy" who locked his girlfriend in the bomb shelter...
...and...
...the reporter lady's husband was the guy being buried at the top of the show...
I TOTALLY did not see coming - the sheriff's pacemaker exploding after he touched the dome...
...but I GUESS I should have seen it...as he was about to tell the lady cop stuff that had been going on...
I like the varied characters...and their varied reactions...
Can't wait to find out what "the stars are falling in lines" means that the frothing mouth/seizure girl who was the daughter of the lesbian couple...and the frothing mouth/seizure boy...was talking about.
This show IS getting me to tune in next week!

I hope to watch it tonight after I get home from work. So far, you've all peaked my interest.  Question: why do ALL these shows have to air at 10pm? What's the matter with airing them at 8pm when the working folk can stay awake to watch?  |

The BEST line had to be from the humorously nick-named ex special forces guy..."Barbie"...
..ONLY a tough guy could pull off THAT nickname...
...reminds me of "A BOY NAMED SUE" ...
...but I digress...
The BEST line in the whole show was from "Barbie" in response to the question:
"How do you know OUR government didn't build it?"
Barbie's reply: "...Because it works..."
I ALSO wanted "Barbie" to kick the stuffings out of that "Big Jim" politicians guy's son...
"Jr."
"Jr." is a bully...wanna-be tough guy who can only beat up women...
...and "jr." had the audacity to challenge "Barbie"...
"Jr." brought a knife to a gun fight...(as Barbie has a gun)...
BUT...
Even WITH "jr.'s" knife...
...if "Barbie" HAD NO GUN...
"Barbie" STILL would have kicked "jr."'s butt.
Too bad the red headed reporter lady showed up and spoiled it.

SoCal, don't read this post until you have watched the show. < < < Call me crazy, but I think the split cow was awesome! Barbie placing his hand on the cow and then leaving the mark on the dome was an excellent intro. Disclaimer: Comparisons to the book are not a criticism of the show...just an observation.I agree with Moon that the change in the radio station will remove a lot of the drama that was involved there. Big Jim's son is wacky...but did his girlfriend have to be so coldhearted? As he said, "Ouch!" It is a trifle awkward for Barbie to be staying in the dead guy's house. I wonder how that will play out. Big Jim did not waste any time establishing that, as a councilman, he can add police officers. |

Darwin and I were posting at the same time.
Those were some great lines. Another line I liked was the conversation between the officer and the sheriff.
Officer: Duke, sorry to bother you, but Sam heard some kind of a bang.
Sheriff: Like a car backfired? Or a backfire like Tommy Anderson finally shot his wife?
Makes me want to see Tommy Anderson in action.
And I will certainly be tuning in next week...maybe to see Barbie kick Jr.'s butt.

Wrestlingfan, it is certainly different from anything I have watched. I think the characters will keep us interested in what will happen. SoCal, I am very interested in what you think about the pilot. Jeff, I look forward to your reviews even though you do not watch it.

I do not know who Barbie was talking to on the phone when he said "Smith" showed up without the money and then tried to renegotiate aggressively. Seems like he was killed during a fight with Barbie. I knew Colin Ford would grow up to be a handsome young man. I think Junior will be around a long while. Someone has to be unpredictable, and I think he is it. Something else I liked is the very beginning - we see a dome shaped egg then a baby chick pokes its beak through it - freedom Will definitely be tuning in next week.  |
