I think Dean wants nothing more then for Sam to go back to school and the sad yet beautiful part is if Sam wanted to go back and stop hunting, Dean would let him.

Yeah Sam wouldn't consider it he wouldn't leave Dean alone out to hunt but just the fact that Dean now is like if it was possible for Sam to go he could go with my blessing it something special I think.

I've heard both Sam and Dean say they wouldn't leave the other one out there alone. I think Sam decided long ago that his old life is gone and hunting is all he can do now. We all know how Dean feels about his little brother and even though they're both grown men, he still finds it difficult to stop feeling protective of him. Personally, I think Dean feels guilty for going after Sam at Stanford. I bet he still feels that Sam could have been left out of it all if he hadn't felt the need to have his brother with him to help find his dad. I really enjoyed this episode.

I think also he feels guilty not only because he took Sam from the school but also about how Jessica died.

So far, I favor "Father Time" for the disappearing beer theory. Whatever, I don't care anymore. SPN has gotten way too sad. Cas & Bobby put me over my grief limit. I just wanted to post a fun pic.

Oh oh! Did anyone notice Sam, when he was antagonizing the monster?? That was SO like Soulless Sam it was creepy. It'd be so cool if we got to see bits and pieces of him mixed in with everything else. Seriously, I just rewatched it and got chills. Like Sam really /isn't/ alright. I don't think he seemed like Soulless!Sam. He was trying to avert the attention from that other hunter onto himself in order to protect that hunter. In other words, he was trying to play the hero. It definitely pulled the attention onto him. That's for sure. Soulless!Sam never would have done that. He would've just let the vetala kill the guy. No one thought it was souless!Sam, but it was a nice layer for Jared to remind us of roboSam. Anyway, Sam saving the father was one of the nice bits of this episode. Also, RQR, can I say I love your makeover?? I have fond memories of that band.

Great picture! But "way too sad?" I mean, the show has been about death since season 1, episode 1. I love Bobby, too, but that new guy, Frank, could just be a great replacement. I mean, I hated it when John was killed off and at first wasn't interested in this grungy guy with a salvage yard. Then his character grew on me. Maybe Frank will, too.

Hey Yim! This is the life of a Winchester... . It makes me sad that their life is so full of darkness. I like the Bobby ghost. Funny.

I guess it just didn't seem like Soulless/RoboSam to me. lol I thought it was kind dark and sexy the way he talked about how he enjoyed "cutting up her sister" but it was just a tactical move on his part. He was trying to protect the father from getting hurt. Do you now? I do too. Very fond memories. GnR have always been my favorite band. Axl has always been my favorite vocalist/lyricist/musician. Always will be too.

Also, RQR, can I say I love your makeover?? I have fond memories of that band. I brought up the soulless sam thing, and nah, I don't think it /was/ soulless sam. I don't think he's come back and is faking it again. I just think that it was an aspect of him. Like, all three aspects are now part of Sam, and that part was surfacing. I can't imagine the old Sam, the one in seasons 1-3, getting quite that chilling. He was always too sympathetic to the situation. I know Sam was doing it to save the father, and he did a brilliant job of it, but I mean.. seriously.. staring into his eyes, that was soulless!sam to the tee. Like he was pulling on that part of himself, that cold, analytical, cruel side that didn't give a sh** except for the effeciency of getting the job done, and it was brilliant. Sam so much! AWESOME acting on Jared's part. What I loved about this episode? Both Jared and Jensen got those 'wow' moments, the opportunity to show us that emotional strength in their acting that both have. With Sam's soulless!sam-like moment, and Dean's smile/cry at the end. To me, this episode was quite well done. I've already rewatched it 3 times and like it more each time I watch it, simply because I see more and more in Jared and Jensen's acting that makes me drool. Love those boys! They are the heart, soul, and strength of that show, and no other actors could keep this show going.

It didn't seem Robo Sam to me it seemed like Sam trying to piss the chick off to make her come after him because the other guy was there longer and he was roughed up so it was like Sam was protecting the guy to me.

Sam didn't seem soulless to me at all. He was doing what came naturally to soulful Sam. Knowing that he had a couple "bites" left and that the other guy would have been dead and his daughter left an orphan, he did the noble thing. Good for him. It makes up for the awful things he did for the year he didn't have a soul. I think he was trying to make up for that. Don't you?

I think you may have something SoCal. After all the actor who plays Frank is one of the reasons Pirates of the Carabean was so successful. If he could help a movie based on a children's ride, he should be able to make himself a welcoming spot on SN. I'm willing to give Frank a chance!

Whoa, the bigger pictures does Norman Reedus more justice! He has a bit of James McAvoy going there. I had the most pathetic crush on James McAvoy ever since his portrayal of the amoral doctor in Last King of Scotland.

Someone made a gif of Dean with the pen in his mouth when he was researching and posting things on the wall in this episode on tumblr and the thing has 2000 reblogs. This fandom clearly watches for the plot.
