I was wondering why you asked that question. There is no confusion between the flashbacks and real time.
You asked about the people who are helping him and I told you the people who are helping him are the same people he lived with in Hong Kong.

According to Spoiler TV, Colton Haynes revealed during a fan event over the weekend that fans would see his character in several episodes of season five. That was all he revealed.

"Look out for more Curtis on Arrow. TVLine reports star Echo Kellum has been promoted to series regular for season five of the CW superhero series.
Kellum made his first appearance as tech developer Curtis Holt in the second episode of season four. He’ll be a series regular beginning with season five, which premieres this fall."
I like Curtis so I am happy we will see more of him.

I wonder if Oliver still wants to be Mayor of a LOSER town, because he is way better at the other job than his being Mayor.

If someone we could trust wanted to be mayor, Oliver would step down. The criminals kept threatening the legitimate candidates, but Oliver is not afraid.
