It was a pretty good episode.
Missy thought babysitting was going to be easy. It can be. One woman who took care of my grandmother did nothing but sleep. She could sleep bette there than at home. But bad things can happen during the night.
I did a paper of Asimov in high school but other than that I didn't know much about him.

Tonight's episode was good. The writers having Missy sing "Achy Breaky Heart" song tells us that the show is now set in the year 1992. I wonder why the writers did not have Mr. Cooper say, "I love you." to Sheldon and Missy. when they said it to him first. Mr. and Mrs. Cooper are lucky that Mandy even showed up to meet them. She has no intention of staying with Georgie and so why meet his parents? I also thought that Mandy worked at a TV station or is that what she did where she used to live in Oklahoma? What I loved about tonight's episode is Georgie's effort to step up. My only question is, am I the only one who noticed him doing that?
God bless you always!!!
Holly
P.S. Missy at one point said to Sheldon that their next birthday is months away. I thought that they just had one because I remember it once being said that they were born in the month of March.

I forgot to mention that on the episode of "Dynasty" I watched last week, the assistant coach from "Coach", who appeared on this show as a cop, was a billionaire who gave his daughter a company to play with so she wouldn't mess up anything important. Fallon, the star of the show (in the original Blake was the star, but Blake is secondary in this version), had to deal with him to get her company back.
It was a very good episode.
I don't know where Mary got the idea people of Scottish heritage are Catholic. Where I live people of Scottish heritage are often Presbyterian. I don't know whether that's the case in Texas. Now Irish people are often Catholic.
I wouldn't say this show is set in 1992, but it's doing what "The Goldbergs" has done. Any event from the decade can happen when it is needed for the plot. Asimov's death also happened in 1992. They started with 1989 but this series is in its fifth season. That also would explain why references to birthdays don't make sense.
You are correct that she was a weather girl, but apparently not now. I wonder if they even have those any more? Several TV stations in my area have attractive (sometimes quite beautiful) but trained meteorologists.

^^^ Missy was singing "Achy Breaky Heart" from Billy Ray Cyrus during the episode. That song went to radio in 1992. I'll never forget how crazy people went over that song. I was ten then. I was actually surprised to hear a country song come from her mouth considering the fact that she normally listens to rock music.
God bless you and Billy Ray always!!!
Holly
P.S. I was lucky enough to see him during a free outdoor concert in September of that year up in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was awesome, but of course I was no where near the stage because the area was completely packed. People were actually watching him from the roof tops of buildings.

Actually, a girl Missy's age wouldn't like "rock". Like I said, they're taking liberties with actual dates and just assuming we won't notice.

Last night's show was good. To me, out of those who found out about the family secret, who Sheldon went to is the most distant from the situation compared to everyone else who found out from the other family members. Right me if I am wrong, but the school that Sheldon goes to is like an hour away from where the Cooper family is, right?
God bless you always!!!

That was a good episode and I don't know how far away that college is.
Missy is a surprisingly good character. Based on how she was in the other series, I wasn't expecting that much.
When I was a teenager, bulletins were printed on a hand-cranked machine and the process was messy. We moved to a different location and went to a different church, and the machine there was electric. We haven't had bulletins since March 2020. We've had emails.

I'm reluctant to link to the site where I saw it because I'd give away who I am, but there is an argument going on about whether Mary or George will be the one to cheat and why. They point out "Big Bang Theory" had references to what happened.

After seeing tonight's show, I have just one question for Missy.....why couldn't you just say to that boy, "Don't want me and my family in the game? Don't show us how to play it!"
God bless you always!!!
Holly
P.S. I feel bad for the preacher of the church. If anyone from the congregation were to see him defend the Coopers in any way, he would only end up being the next person to be out of a job.

This show is not making Christians look good.
Missy was so sweet to her mother.
And Sheldon was ... Sheldon.
Not sure what the college president could do.
Georgie is trying to do the right thing and Meemaw is being very helpful. I don't know what that girl would do.
I can think of one thing, but I wouldn't want her to, and Justice Samuel Alito is trying to see that no one can.

Last night's show was good. I love what Missy had to say to Sheldon about getting older. Focus more on whatever you do hope to accomplish. I wonder what happened with MeMaw and Georgie.
God bless you always!!!

It was another good episode and one that makes me sorry it's all over until Fall.
George should still have a job, but maybe being fired as coach would make him not want to work there. When I went to high school, the head football coach taught biology. The baseball coach did too. The basketball coach was the gym teacher. We didn't have to take PE like in junior high. Another coach taught history.
It was great seeing the college president have to get involved with Sheldon's minor problems.
Missy is turning into a great character. I couldn't understand what she said at the end when Sheldon said something about the scientific method. Either what he said was the scientific method, or her annoyed response.
Most of what Sheldon wanted to do with his life he actually did, as "Big Bang" viewers know. Wikipedia says he has multiple doctorates, and he won the Nobel Prize along with his wife in the finale. I don't recall if Sheldon actually got to work with Stephen Hawking, but I know he was on at least one "Big Bang" episode. It was established on this show he had kids. And his wife was on this show too, even if it was just her voice.
Amazingly, monkey pox is a real problem now.

I just remembered. Teller was in "Big Bang" in one or two episodes as Sheldon's father-in-law. He did talk there, but he was very shy.

Linkletter doesn't need the work, but he was in the season (series) finale of "Mr. Mayor" as a journalist who also moderated the debate between candidates for mayor. Kind of a bumbling idiot.

Iain spells his name differently but someone with the conventional spelling is making me miserable today. Hopefully it won't get any worse.
It was a good episode. No longer is this a show about a child genius, but it's about a family that happens to include a child genius. I always enjoy Sheldon's contributions, though. His statement in church was great.
Churches aren't supposed to be like that. Georgie is the one who sinned and he's not even going to church.
Meemaw and Georgie in the same cell? What if one of them has to use the facilities?
Coolio died at 59. I mention this because he did the theme song for one of Meemaw's previous TV series.

One thing that I didn't mention earlier but will bring up now is this. I didn't like the attitude that Pastor Jeff had at the end of the episode. When he said that the church was still Mrs. Cooper's family and that he would hate to see her walk away from the Lord, he made it sound like that his church was the only church in the area for the Cooper family to attend when there has to be at least one other place. He at least could've made a suggestion about where else they could go if they didn't feel comfortable at his place anymore.
God bless you always!!!

Missy was great last night. Of course Sheldon knows all that stuff! Of course he knows Batman is really a rich man. But she's got a job and she seems to be good at it. I don't think she has to worry about her hair looking good because it always does.
Who drove Meemaw and Linkletter home?
One of the women where Brends and Mary were was wearing really short shorts.

Tonight's show was good, but in my opinion, Mandy's landlord had no right to lock up that place with her things still inside. Aren't people normally given a time limit to where they are able to pack and leave in a more legitimate way? I've never lived in an apartment building before and so I have no idea.
God bless you always!!!

I agree about Mandy getting locked out. But it gave us some comedy we wouldn't have had otherwise. And I believed Meemaw would give her a place to stay.
I can't believe Mary's imagination got so naughty. I would have been happier with Coach and George having a less explicit conversation but I was so glad Mandy had that experience trying to use the bathroom. By the way, can't Missy go to Meemaw's?
I thought surely that was a dream at the end. Sheldon is scary. What's Dr. Sturgis doing teaching ethics? Although I'm glad it was him.
Sheldon needed help with his homework!

Missy has great hair.
Billy was so funny. And poor Sheldon couldn't handle his answer. Even worse, both professors ended up in the same situation.
The solution was to pretend. That's what we were taught to do with imaginary numbers. If Billy can't handle negative numbers, what's he going to do when (if) he gets to that concept?
I didn't realize Billy and Missy were in the same grade. I figured he'd gotten held back. Adult Sheldon made it clear it happened eventually.
Billy's father now has a smarter stepson but that young man's problem is his mother expects him to be a doctor. He has the ability but not the desire. I saw a commercial for that show during this show.

We should have expected this outcome when Sheldon started complaining about living in a dorm. It was great, especially how it ended.
I ended up around some quiet people my freshman year. Never had too negative an experience after that.
The road trip with Coach and Meemaw was fun with all the remarks about how illegal it all was.
Another TV child is turning into Sheldon. Beverly Rose on "The Conners" knows all the answers. Her mom was there and the teacher asked her to do something about it. Then the girl's aunt told her if the other kids are dumb that's not her problem and she should continue to answer the questions and let the kids know how dumb they are. Not the answer!
And there is a connection between that show and this one. The aunt was Leonard's co-worker and love interest before Penny on "Big Bang Theory". Leonard (who was a loser) used to be her boyfriend when "The Conners" was called "Roseanne" and they eventually got married and divorced.
