We saw a lot more of Alice's past when she was young and then the moment she stopped being Beth and became Alice. I always thought the kidnaper called her Alice, but Beth chose that name herself.
There were some close calls when several people almost died. Some innocent people did not survive and I think it was because of carelessness.
That crisis is still causing confusion. When the multi-verse existed, doppelgangers were not affected when they were close to each other, but Beth and Alice are suffering major issues.
