7.01The New Deal 27 May 2020

The New Deal:
The Zephyr time-jumped the team to 1931 New York City. The chronicons are there to change history and are disgruntled that the agents followed them.
Coulson and the team struggled to adjust to the major changes to their team members. Coulson, for the second time, died and was resurrected. He is obviously different from the original Coulson, but seems to be a good guy.
Fitz is missing.
Fitz and Jemma's son is still with them and helping the mission.
May died and was put in a medical pod to help her heal.
Quake is still Quake.

6/03/2020
With the identity of the timeline-unraveling "threat" revealed, the team's mission to protect him at all costs leads each agent to question their own values.

There was much excitement when the team tried to prevent the assassination of Governor Roosevelt in 1931. Then, they realized he was not the target.
They determined a young man, Wilfred "Freddy" Malick, was the target, but did not know the reason. They still protected him even though he wanted to evade them. He was the father of the man who would create H.Y.D.R.A. He was given a sample of the green stuff that was used to create super soldiers and was determined to get it to the people he would work with.
One issue with the Zephyr is that it time jumps at random times and the team cannot predict when that will be. That led them to leaving Enoch/sentient Chronicom behind. I felt very sad about that until he teamed up with Koenig.

But so far I'm not enjoying it except for the occasional humor. FDR wasn't the target but it was interesting when I thought he was. decoy.tvpassport.com/news/last-stand-heroes-marvel’s-agents-shield-embark-final-mission?subid=national-00001

One issue with the Zephyr is that it time jumps at random times and the team cannot predict when that will be. That led them to leaving Enoch/sentient Chronicom behind. I felt very sad about that until he teamed up with Koenig. The second episode I saw was so much better. Koenig is played by a man I've seen a lot on other shows. He narrates "The Goldbergs" as adult Adam Goldberg, he is the loser principal on "A.P. Bio", and he was the comic relief and the murderer on the latest season of "Veronica Mars". He's usually funny and plays losers. Here, he's somewhat funny and also kind of a loser. I was surprised by how much I liked Enoch. He's not a robot but he behaves like one, and his responses to strange human customs come across as funny. The ending makes me worry these two won't be back. I think what I enjoyed the most was people's surprised reactions to this modern technology. I would have though the walkie-talkie would have existed in 1931.

7.3 Alien Commies from the Future
June 10, 2020
A surprise leap forward in time strands Enoch in 1931 and lands the team in another unfamiliar decade; in order to stop the chronicoms from launching their future-dismantling plan, the agents must infiltrate one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most secure bases.

I enjoyed the intrigue and action. I also liked the way they acknowledged the racist culture of the 1950's. There were separate restrooms for whites and "coloreds". Gerald Sharpe called May "Oriental" and she wanted to give him a beat down. He dissed Mack and Yo-Yo because of the color of their skin. He also assumed the white man had to be in charge. The funniest scene was when they convinced Sharpe they were aliens and threatened to probe him. Then Sharpe ran into the diner and referenced the episode title.
I was amused by the way Coulson was interviewing people to determine if they were human. Lots of laughs for the reactions.
I am a fan of Agent Carter and was thrilled when Simmons pretended to be her. I knew she was in trouble when Sousa showed up.
Jemma Simmons : Daniel, your surname wouldn't happen to be Sousa. Daniel Sousa : It would. Jemma Simmons : Which would make you the former colleague of Agent Peggy Carter. Daniel Sousa : It would. Jemma Simmons : I suppose you'll be arresting me now. Daniel Sousa : You got it all figured it out, don't you?
There was a lot of action following their encounter. Sousa will be back next episode.
Agent May earned her nickname "The Calvary", but both she and Yo-Yo showed symptoms of PTSD or something and let the chronicom escape. They redeemed themselves by delaying the power upload long enough for Jemma and Skye to cut the power to the Helix.

S7 E4 Out of the Past

I enjoyed the black & white scenes showing they were in 1955 and the music reminded me of detective dramas. The period wardrobe was nice also.
Going undercover and confronting Hydra was dangerous because Hydra does not follow any laws.
The only thing I did not like was Enoch felt abandoned and friendless. I got the impression he is going to change.
Agent May learned she feels and is affected by the emotions of others. That is why she felt anxiety while on a mission.

One thing you do not do in an episode set in 1955 is use a '57 Chevy. It is one of the most familiar, if not the most familiar, of all the classic cars. Such a mistake would be easily noticed. It was a '54 Chevy that was driven to Area 51. I didn't hear May being insulted. Sharpe seemed typical of professional men of that era. I liked the interviews where they were determining who was human. Agent May earned her nickname "The Calvary", She earned what nickname? but both she and Yo-Yo showed symptoms of PTSD or something and let the chronicom escape. They redeemed themselves by delaying the power upload long enough for Jemma and Skye to cut the power to the Helix. They just had to wait until the last minute to stop the Helix. I am curious where the light came from in those areas without windows after the power went out. And I thought the Amish were against violence.

I was surprised at the locomotive but it's great to see one like that. I would have thought a more modern one would have been used. At first I thought that was a '55 Pontiac. The man wondered if women drove back then. But the front end may have been a '54. I didn't get a good look. I just know it wasn't a '55. It was great to see Enoch back because he is so funny. Was that supposed to be some kind of modem? I have no knowledge of what early modems looked like or how they worked, but on "The Goldbergs" Adam (the teenager) used what was likely a real early version of the modem. On the subject of Adam (meaning the adult), only Enoch was back. But then he can be since he doesn't get older. In one of the episodes someone was surprised a woman could be a pilot, but back then a lot of women had to be the pilots, like Rosie the Riveter.
