I had to pause the show because I cannot stop laughing at the young man trying to use a rotary phone the same way he would use a cell phone. I was not paying close attention until I saw Russ' reaction. I reversed the action, understood what happened, and keeled over with laughter.
Back to the show.

There are phones that look like rotary phones that do work the way the man tried to.
I still don't like Desi. It doesn't look right for her to smile, and it doesn't work for her to try to be nice. And seeing her in the mud ... no. It only works for her to be the way she has always been.
So we know the pandemic is over and it's months later.
I can remember when instead of a "hard drive", there was a "hard disk", and what you could carry around and insert was a "diskette". And what one of those was changed so much from the time I first learned about them.
I was surprised Bozer knew so much about tech stuff. Riley's fake wound which was all too real, of course he knows about. He's been learning a lot of stuff I don't know he learned about, I guess.
Even the hostages' room was really nice.
It was such a shame to see them destroying such a beautiful place. A historic church in New York City burned over the weekend and i saw this in too many newspapers.
I enjoyed the episode enough, but the show won't make it back to my top ten.

I guess they thought the series finale would be on people's minds because they focused the episode on the damage done to the relationships. That was probably important for continuity but a lot of real time has passed. I think you ( KyleEl ) have seen "John Wick". The hotel for criminals was set up similar to the hotel in the movies and played an important role. You covered the important highlights. I just want to add I enjoy the fun Matty has at Russ' expense.

When I was at the beach or in the mountains the movie that introduced the man who took care of the dog was introduced, and I came in late. It wasn't the original.

You would think I would enjoy watching Desi move like that while not wearing a lot of clothes, but the tattoos are a factor. I would have liked the ballet music so much better during the training.
As for how long she had to hold her breath, I think Teller has shown he can, but it might have just been a trick.
It always seems impossible and the consequences are dire if they don't do everything just right, but somehow they get out of the jam.
I forget whether MacGyver was mentioned when Higgins on "Magnum" made a battery out of lemons.

It was exciting. I appreciate they were not able to complete training in a short period of time. Sometimes shows exaggerate what is possible.
The thief will return, but I am glad she did not join the team. The team has enough members.

My TiVo listings still show George Eads in the cast. That is strange. I turned the TV on to check and Eades is not listed on DirecTV.

Once again, Desi and Mac together. And once again, I can't stand it. Now Mac and Riley together I'd like to see. Those first few scenes were fun. I don't know what eclipse they were looking at, but if they can invent the pandemic being over (and yet they talked even more about it), they can invent an eclipse.
It was hard to watch them doing that to Russ but he's quite courageous and even funny in such a situation.
Matty made it clear she's the boss even though Russ tried to remind her he's HER boss.
I was hoping that man they broke out of jail was innocent. Apparently not. But things worked out.
I would like to know what all those symbols were around the screen where Matty appeared.

"Banh Bao + Sterno + Drill + Burner + Mason" was an exciting episode with two teams battling dangerous situations. Each team was visiting locations that should have been trouble free.
MacGyver visited Desi's parents and the encounter was awkward because the family resented Desi. The real reason Desi wanted Mac to come with her was she suspected her brother was in trouble. I enjoyed watching Mac use his skill to break the unbreakable glass so they could escape. Later, when they were fighting the villains at the parents' home, it looked like those guys were more than they could handle. I enjoyed seeing the whole family pitch in instead of cowering in a corner.
Matty and Russ went on a recruitment trip. Unfortunately, some people were intent on kidnapping the young man they wanted to recruit and they got involved. I think they did an excellent job of introducing the character in a short amount of time.

I thought we were going to have a normal episode for a change. No such thing. Very exciting.
I still don't like Desi any better but I did like seeing her brother and her parents find out there was more to her job.
How that boy remembered so much from when he was five I don't know. He wasn't impressed at first but he sure was going to be.
The villain seems to have usually been a villain in recent years. But he was the kind father of a boy with down's Syndrome in "Life Goes On".

Jack + Kinematics + Safe Cracker + MgKNO3 + GTO - When I saw "Jack" in the title, I hoped Jack was back. Why did they wait two years? After watching the beginning of the episode, I checked to see if Eads had died in real life.
I enjoyed all of the written on-screen comments, especially the one for Interpol "FOR SECURITY PURPOSES LET'S SAY IT'S ONE OF THESE OLD BUILDINGS."
Although it was a serious episode, I was amused during most of the scenes. When they found the safe in Jack's safe house, Russ thought Mac was going to use the microwave to make an x-ray machine. Instead, Mac used the microwave to smash a hole in the wall. Later, he did MacGyver an automatic weapon that scared off the villains.
After their captive was shot through a window, Mac traced the trajectory to a location that was six stories up, three blocks away. Can the Secret Service calculate that in three seconds?
Mac finally gave into his emotions and cried for the loss of Jack.

I too hoped Jack would be back. Last week ABC showed a movie where Nick Fury died, only he didn't (and I like Samuel L. too much to see a character die that could return for future projects).
I always like the on-screen comments. Sometimes it's about all that's funny about this show any more.
Given my eyesight and the size of my TV screen, I thought that was a photo of Jack.
Mac doesn't carry a gun. Well, not often. Sheriff Andy Taylor also didn't carry a gun.
That GTO is a great looking car.
Ozzy is the first name of one heavy metal rocker and Ulrich is the last name of another.

I enjoy episodes where Mac needs to use his skills to escape dangerous situations. The invisibility cloak was interesting. Rigging the telephone to send a Morse code message seemed a little farfetched.
The opening scene was exciting.
I did not trust the woman who was with Russ and she betrayed him. Hanging around for a month in order to locate the information on the artifacts was treacherous. She took photographs, but it was not shown if she took anything from the room.

Bozer was naturally the one who was most scared of the virus. Did we ever hear about his parents? I don't think they're going to continue to do episodes about the pandemic.
The grouchy old man was the dad on "The Wonder Years" and I keep thinking he was recently on something else we have seen.
Mac seemed too excited about Fauci.
Of course if they were going to go on a mission during the pandemic, it would be to catch a cleaning crew!

Mac's partner was gorgeous. She was a pre-law student and a cheerleader in "Hellcats" on The CW but she was a blonde and I didn't think she was nearly as pretty on that show. I knew she looked familiar but I recognized her name immediately in the guest cast.
Once again, having Desi made the episode less enjoyable for me because she and Mac have these relationship problems that I couldn't care less about. Now Desi fighting is much better.
I didn't believe she would voluntarily develop a weapon like that. And she lost her friends anyway.
I never saw Riley so scared.
It's just amazing what Riley can do with a computer. She went through people's baggage in a way that I don't think would be possible in such a short time.

I am really enjoying these episodes. I like the case of the week episodes where Mac shows off his skills. I know Codex is coming back, and I am not excited about that.
I thought Desi was too quick to start fighting the man in the hazmat suit because it put Mac in danger. They were outnumbered and she did not give Mac a chance to come up with an escape plan. Jack always thought of protecting Mac before starting to fight.

I liked this episode somewhat better than the others. The man from "Lost" was 5-0. I don't remember whether he was in the "Hawaii Five-0" crossover or not.
Matty on missions? Seems unlikely with her size, but I guess she has overcome a lot.
Her mentor was Cabe on "Scorpion". I had to look that up. He was determined to do more than the doctors thought he could do and that's what Cabe was like too.
The "Five-0" man got in over his head. I'm not sure what they really accomplished but it was enjoyable seeing him play a role.
"We don't know how to pronounce it either." Matty did. Melania did, I'm sure.
How they manage to have all these Eastern European settings in Georgia I don't understand. I used to think it was the former Soviet republic. Apparently car chases in Atlanta or wherever look like car chases in any other city.

Mac makes everything look easy. He assembled a rail car for two people very quickly. The car travelled faster than I thought it would. Then, they had to jump off because there were no brakes.
Climbing the cliff was dangerous, and then the team members had to leave Mac there alone. I was relieved when he was finally safe.
Riley and Desi were brave and both of them did a good job of fending off the Codex wannabees. Riley was not originally a field agent, but she has adapted to being in dangerous situations on a regular basis.
Desi has become a major team player plus love interest so she will probably be around for a long time.
