And I saw videos of both stories I missed today. I thought I was finally rid of that mouse and then I saw it do the same thing it always does. At least it's not in the trap I saw. I would have been in a situation like Sheldon except there was not an opening big enough to pull a dead mouse through. I would have had to move a desk. The computer froze a couple of times over the weekend but the problem cleared up on its own both times. The second time I ate supper but I don't have the patience to just sit there and wait. At least the reasons for not going to the former Berkshire Hathaway sites, even if they take a lot of time, keep me from having to deal with that. My TiVo is working again. I remembered that on the site people go to for advice someone had said unplug it and plug it back in. That also solved the problem that the person gave the advice for, which I was having again. Also see the Food Thread. I forgot that last week.

Okay this is getting seriously on my nerves, we literally were home all day yet our postal worker marked my mom's medication as delivered and it's not here and they didn't leave a key in slot for packages.
Also they were supposed to redeliver something and yet they didn't. This is insane, USPS you really are screwing up in a major way that is a huge disappointment!

Had to get up fairly early to pick up the undelivered package, this postal worker is really screwing up in a major way since they first didn't deliver my mom's medication and this other one after at least two redelivery requests.
Fortunately when I spoke to USPS employees on the phone they were incredibly sympathetic about this and have helped me file some claims about this.
The medication one is the one that has all of us super concerned because it looked it was going to be at least another week before we could get a reissue of it.

Yesterday my computer froze while I was on a comic strip web site. It was so late I just had to quit. I wasn't turning the computer off because then it won't come back on for the longest time. And it happened again today. I wasn't on the site but ads come up when I'm not there anyway, and I should avoid going to another site on another window for that reason. I couldn't even see a pointer or hand or anything! After I waited a while, the computer seemed to be working but it was too late to do anything so I pressed "sleep". And when I turned the computer off today (by unplugging, of course) I had to wait and wait and wait after it came back on, even after doing CTRL-ALT-DEL multiple times.
Fortunately I did the virus scan Wednesday night. Speaking of which, my virus protection expire on May 4. Yes, that's what it said. The company will tell me that's not a legitimate message. I thought I was through with ads causing that to happen.
And ads just might be blocked after what I've been going through. That and ads with the e-edition I'm forced to read on Saturdays. I can't deal with moving information when I'm reading that much. Of course, I contacted the newspaper and told them how I felt, and nothing. Why am I surprised? They're going to get a letter to the editor about their non-existent customer service. They didn't print the last one but I'll just keep sending them.
And I saw the mouse several times. Once it was coming out of the bathroom. I didn't even see it go in, but I can't close the door fast enough so it'll have to go across the trap to get out. The trap I saw was a smaller one that can't be used again.

Had to pick up another undelivered package this morning but some good news about this situation is that the local post office called me about it.
They've assured me that this carrier will receive extensive training to prevent this from happening again.
We did have one small package delivered today by our carrier so that was a relief that it didn't go through the headache we had previously.

I’m sick and tired of deadbeat relatives that are comfortable laying around doing nothing, and begging me for money. These people are older than me and still don’t have their lives together, nor the drive to do anything productive. I’m done.

I thought I had finally dealt with the mouse. I could have closed the door almost all the way after it went in the bathroom and didn't come out. Crossing the trap would have been the only way out. Instead I just closed it all the way. While it was struggling to get out, I heard mouse noises in the room where I was. There must be two of them! And I've seen the mouse today.
I had computer troubles today. I don't know whether to blame the "new" Facebook. The message said I could go back to the old Facebook at anytime, but it didn't tell me how. I have to click more often to see comments. And at some point the name of the site did not match the URL, which did not match what was on screen. Actually, the name of the site is usually whoever's timeline I am on. I had to start closing things and then I lost some work I was doing.
The e-edition of The Charlotte Observer had only a few ads and they weren't distracting. My time spent on the computer is not going down, and I'm spending a lot of time on the computer on weekends. Things should get better in three weeks.
I got Roy's TV station back. I couldn't pick it up no matter what last week. I haven't watched videos. Hopefully in a few minutes I can see "Roy's Folks".
So many people named Roy (except the current Roy is Chad Tucker). Siegfried's partner died, and Roy Cooper let us out of jail.
I could only see about half of "Roy's Folks". So I need to watch the video to see the rest. I kept moving the antenna around but it wouldn't stay on. Why did they do away with analog TV, which actually works?

Not sleeping overly well these days plus it's way too noisy at time due to neighbors having their music thumping at the late hours or due to their loud cursing voices.

Had to pick up another undelivered package this morning but some good news about this situation is that the local post office called me about it. They've assured me that this carrier will receive extensive training to prevent this from happening again. We did have one small package delivered today by our carrier so that was a relief that it didn't go through the headache we had previously. There were more details on Facebook that reminded me I was told a package from eBay had arrived at my post office but when I went to pick it up it wasn't there. I went to the post office that would have delivered to my house if I had a mailbox in front of my house, and they didn't have it either. Eventually, I went to get my mail and there it was. But whatever the email from eBay with the list of locations for my package said, it was wrong. Now on to more recent rants. I did the virus scan last night. However, it slowed down my computer when I wasn't finished using it. When I went to bed it was at 40 percent so I left the computer on all night. I was told to restart the computer for updates. I never do that when I'm using it because it takes too long. But I clicked on something and it told me how to set the time. I couldn't do it earlier than 10:45 PM for some reason so I just left the computer on until I went to bed. It was through and I pressed the sleep button. At some point one day this week the computer froze but I didn't want to lose the email I hadn't saved in a while, causing me to lose lots of information. Somehow, the computer unfroze on its own and I saved the email, but each site shut down one by one. Eventually things were working again. Something happened today too but it cleared up on its own. I haven't seen a mouse but I sometimes hear mouse noises, which may be something else. There was a pest control man across the street. I didn't ask him because I don't think they do mice. But I was there to ask for help getting my mower fixed. It has gone back to making a lot of noise and I don't like that much noise, plus it may not be good for the mower. And I haven't gotten a response so far. I saw Roy (Chad) on Wednesday and the video of what I couldn't quite see all of Monday. Only one other video was available from last week. What worries me is the signal improvement may go away since it's warm again. Using a search at home has unfortunate results. I haven't done this before but if I can't go to libraries, I have to. So I did a legitimate search and got mostly porn. I saw that there was a filter. Turning on meant I got nothing. For any search.

During the special election for Congress rep for Baltimore’s 7th District, 20,000 ballots were returned as non-deliverable after the election.
The primary election ballot delivery is behind schedule.

My computer has misbehaved several times today. Nothing that required turning it off or even CTRL-ALT-DEL. However, on Saturday the ads with the e-edition were distracting and I told the newspaper again. I have gotten no response from them, although last week there were fewer ads and nothing distracting. It doesn't bother me to have moving information with most web sites but trying to read an entire newspaper requires concentration. Even if the part not identified as "Extra Extra" is only ten pages.
I saw most of Roy (Chad) today but not everything. A car passed by. Then I lost the signal for no reason. Then it came back. A cute little girl mentioned a Mama Cardinal. Now she does now those aren't as pretty, right? I never did see. Her parents were bird watchers.
I finally had the mouse Saturday night! I had to open the bathroom door to get in there and clean, even though I don't use it. No mess from the mouse, which was amazing. Later, even though the door was open it was still trying to get out the hard way. Then it came out and went back in and I almost closed the door, putting the trap right where it would go out the next time. It ran right across the trap. Wait … isn't it supposed to stick to the trap? I didn't have any left but an old one. I haven't seen it since but I've heard noises that may or may not be a mouse.
My mower is making that noise again. I tried to find someone to fix it but never got a response, so I went back to the people who did it before and take their time doing it. I need it back NOW.

Also, I keep getting warnings my Norton protection is expiring. Also warnings about threats detected. Except I don't have Norton any more. I may never have had it on this computer.

Me too because I tried to contact them today via phone and the first time there was over 75 people ahead of me, I tried calling hours later and there's over 400 people ahead of me. It doesn't look like I or my mom will be used for this primary election but the one in November is still debatable.

I can't remember where we talked about the Census but I get to rant about it. After I found a plastic bag hanging from my front door I filled out the form and submitted it online. It's a good thing I did that because my zip code was invalid. I didn't get to correct my town for some reason. Maybe I didn't try hard enough but it's possible the town should have matched the zip code. They have my phone number if they need it.
After all that I found a plastic bag hanging from my front door …
A columnist who answers people's questions explained why I have been having a problem with Roy. By the way, it was an hour after I needed to when I remembered Wednesday, and the signal wasn't good enough for me to watch. It might have been if I had been there when it was on. But the explanation is a new frequency, which a lot of stations are getting. I suspected that might be it and rescanned, but things aren't done yet.
No mouse problems this week as far as I know.
I can't recall any serious computer problems. Wait … one day I was on Facebook or something and the computer froze and CTRL-ALT-DEL didn't work. And turning my computer off means unplugging, which means waiting and waiting and waiting for CTRL-ALT-DEL to work.
I need to get an ad blocker before Saturday because I don't want to deal with distractions when reading the newspaper's e-edition. And waiting on that just makes things worse. I do remember how to get to an old one, I think.
I forgot to do the virus scan last night. I have to remember it tonight.

Virus scan did fine. I was going to bed and it was at 79 percent and nothing was happening. I don't remember what I did, but after I finished it said the scan was done. I pushed the sleep button.
I had two incidents when I had to wait while it said "welcome" on the screen for the longest time. CTRL-ALT-DEL works but not quickly. One of those times I didn't even turn the computer off, but somehow it ended up back on the screen where I had to sign in.
I also lost my ability to go to where I can look at newspapers. That wasn't a good feeling. Normally I have to wait for weeks, but usually I've seen most of the articles on the web site. I eventually got to a sign-in screen but that didn't do any good. Finally, I got back to where I wanted to be. I'm also blocked from another web site where I can look at certain newspapers, but that's going to be solved soon.
I had the distractions looking at the e-edition but I remembered I can click in the upper right corner and I said I didn't want ads like that. The most distracting ads did not come back and have not since then. Anywhere.
No mouse problems that I know of but I had a cricket Saturday night very late, and then ALL NIGHT last night. I hate putting a pillow on top of my head but it's the only way.
Roy seemed to be a rerun. It's a good thing because I couldn't get the antenna to consistently work.

No mouse problems all week. The cricket got better and made more noise during the day, and even when it made noise at night it wasn't as loud.
I forgot Roy (Chad) on Wednesday and of course, the signal wasn't good enough. Had I been watching I might have been able to adjust the antenna.
Virus scan completed but the number of files had 4 digits, not 6. I may have done something wrong.
I got advice about the Census. I don't have to do anything.
Yesterday I lost water. I called and was told it is the crew installing fiber optic service. They did the same thing Saturday but nothing happened where I live. The person who answered said it happened early on Thursday but I didn't have problems until lunchtime. At least today was the day to wash dishes and my clothes were already washed. I wondered who those people were putting orange pipes in the ground or why there were all those markings where I walk. I don't need faster Internet. Well, I could use it if I decided to use Hulu or something. It's not essential for that. It's not worth waiting four hours and getting my hopes up when I heard noises. I didn't like how my water heater sounded. And when I finally flushed, it sounded like I broke the toilet. For hours if I turned on the bathroom faucet, only air came out but it kept sounding like water was about to.

I saw Roy today.
Cricket was making noise later in the morning. I stomped on something but it may have been a spider. Not long after that, nothing.
I saw the crew putting in fiber optic lines today. I don't know what they're doing to keep from causing any more problems. I noticed they spoke Spanish.
And on Saturday I flushed the other toilet. It sounded like it exploded. Water came out the front and the side. Strangely, the new sink in the same bathroom didn't have any problems.
My Wisconsin radio station went out several times today, though once it was the EAS. Sometimes I listened on the computer before I went back and tried again.
I never got an ad blocker but I was very annoyed by ads on Saturday when looking at The Charlotte Observer.

Saw Roy (Chad) Monday, forgot Wednesday. I haven't checked the recording yet to see if I got him.
I was going to put this on the gas price thread or possibly the Tanmi thread since it's a library story. One of my libraries opened back up and I knew they'd have to help me get photos from newspapers I look at which that library will let me see on the computer, as if they were real. I was able to look at them at home and still do but copying the photos doesn't work like I had hoped. It didn't take long for me to figure out how to do it at the library. They can see what I'm doing and even do it for me from their computer (which is kind of scary if you think about it, but necessary with the current situation). to Keep things simple I just did email attachments. Later I was going to print the photos at another library and the previews showed I was only getting part of each photo and I couldn't see how to change that. No one could help me since they couldn't get close or see what I was doing from their own computer, or even access the site since that required a library card number at the other library. I emailed the person who helped me do what I would have done at the other library and now I know what to do, at least on my own computer, which is where I was when I got a response. But I have no printer so next week I have to find out whether it works at the library.
Forgot my virus scan last night. I have to remember to start it in a few minutes.

Phew! That was scary since I wasn't ready to get another one.

It happened earlier today. Sorry, but I did chuckle 🤭 . I hope they were okay. The monitor is very sturdy. I got it under the warranty for my first computer so it is at least 10 years old and still going. If I decide to use Zoom or Skype I might need a new one and now would be a good time, before it goes bad. The mouse seems fine too. It is not, however, still tied around the monitor and could fall on its own. My back hurts so I moved the computer table closer to the chair and the monitor almost fell from that and when I got up and bumped the table. I saw most of Roy (Chad) on Monday but had to hold the antenna. It was working mostly fine. Virus scan did fine. The number of files had 6 digits this time. I went to the library yesterday and had to ask for help when I couldn't see what I had been told was there. At home, the method of fixing the photo was easy to see but I have no printer. Finally, I saw the "More settings". The librarian asked me what was there since she couldn't see from six feet away, and she didn't have the method to see it, although I could have emailed her and she might have seen what I saw. I haven't told them about the software the other library has. I did forget to make a change on a photo when the computer decided I was through because I was spending all my time on the computer that lets me approve printouts. I had to sign in again and so, the default settings were back to normal. And their copier lets me preview! I've never seen that before. Didn't help n one case. The copier and the printer are the same.
