See the Cat Thread and the Food Thread.
I just remembered to check Parade magazine and it was not published last week. The person who is supposed to tell us that did forget.
I called the railroad and was told due to staff shortages they have to run trains at night. I got no word on whether that means this situation is permanent. I'm going to try again, this time identifying where I am. I may have a chance seeing as how an entire college is right next to all that noise and do college students really want that when they're sleeping?
I had the worst time getting compensation for my leaking Lysol, which has leaked enough to be noticeable even since I decided to make the call. I figured out a solution but will have to deal with it tomorrow.
Virus scan did fine but I didn't get a 6-digit number.
Great news about my email problem. One email address insisted I set preferences before seeing my new emails and then it asked me to import. It worked!

All that typing and I thought I submitted and didn't. Edit: I did!
Roy (Chad) did fine but only after I used the remote because the 2-tuner DVR has 3 tuners, one of which only receives a non-existent station. That's the only explanation.
I had the worst time getting a coupon for the leaking Lysol. I think I have a solution but the bottle has already leaked even more since I decided to call.

The seller sent coconut chocolate bars instead of the Atkins caramel chocolate bar. I do not like the chewy texture of coconut and they cost almost $80.

Did I seriously lose everything I typed ... again?
Okay, let me try again. The Lysol all leaked out of the bottle after I poured some of it into another bottle which was much smaller. I used what I could for most of my cleaning. It was all over the floor of the bathroom I don't use. And I'll be doing that again.
The bathroom I don't use is next to where I watch TV. And that's where the mouse was. Going up the shower curtain rod (which fell because it wasn't installed properly) or jumping from the wastebasket with its mouth very full like I've never seen a mouse do before. There was a smaller mouse down below. At least one. I never saw the mouse again so I was hoping I was through. Then I saw one last night in the room next door and it went back in there when it saw me. And I keep hearing noises in my room which could have been spiders or something but some are too loud. I put out a glue trap but nothing yet. And I haven't checked for "Evidence".
No train today. So I guess it comes through tonight.
Computer froze twice yesterday but in one case the site saved everything and in the other I had just saved most of my work just before it happened. Also, the light flickered a few minutes ago and then went out. I had to turn my computer back on.

And just when I thought it would be simple to get a replacement bottle of Lysol ...
I was sent a $10 coupon. The cashier at the store where I got the first bottle didn't know what to do and called someone. That person had to call someone. Processing the coupon the normal way didn't work. I did explain why I had the coupon. Finally, the cashier reduced the price of the item to zero. That didn't get me $10 off, and I got a second bottle of Lysol. Whatever they did finally worked and I only had to pay $1.68. It was really $1.80 but I had already gone back out to the car where all my cash was, thinking it was $1.68.
I thought I was through with the mouse but then I saw it come out of the hole, go in the next room, then come back and go under the desk. It went around the glue trap but then I noticed there was no room to go under the desk there so I moved the glue trap.
The trains have been coming through but not as often. There was no return trip the first night and the return trip was two nights later. The pattern is different because the crossing north of my house is farther away than the next crossing to the south, and there are lots of crossings to the south. One night it was very late when the train came through one time, but mostly it was just after midnight. Now if only they could move it earlier. And students have moved in at the college. Yeah, they will be happy about that.
Computer froze when I had typed a lot, but not that much, today. And it froze a couple of other times this week. I had to restart the computer Wednesday night which delayed starting the virus scan and I had to leave the computer on all night. By the way, the computer was on all night another night.
Also see the Food Thread.
I saw both Roys but the second time that mysterious non-existent channel kept me from being able to simply watch on Wednesday.

I had to hold the antenna to watch Roy (Chad) yesterday. At first I was getting occasional still images with a blank screen in between. Sometimes the antenna wire needs its connection fixed.
Computer froze several times but it was just annoying.
None of the leaked Lysol was still on the floor where it leaked after I cleaned up Saturday.
I saw evidence of a mouse and this was different. I understand now. I caught one and it was a tiny one. The tiny one did more damage because it could squeeze in. I also saw a tiny mouse next to the computer. But I've seen a regular sized one and it hasn't been caught. I'm also out of traps.
No train since I last posted but I drove past it twice yesterday. It's there ready to go somewhere.

Computer has frozen several times but at least today I hadn't done all that much. I did a lot earlier this week.
I turned on the computer yesterday morning and started the scan. No 6-digit number and I wish they'd change back to doing that.
It was bound to happen. I noticed obituaries on my Ohio radio station are broadcast at the same time as Roy (Chad) on Wednesday. This week, I was reminded at just the right time. And as usual, I needed a remote because the mysterious channel was on.
I saw the mouse again. I had to get new traps and put out one. It seems to have moved but the bait is still in place. I saw a commercial for the product I may need to close the hole.
Trains every night. First time through before bedtime. Return trip much later.

It happened again. See the All American, Legends of Tomorrow and Walker threads.
I saw the mouse again. One trap didn't do any good The bait is stuck to it and the mouse won't bother with it. Where I put the bait for another trap the mouse got it and the trap is still there. I saw the mouse again and kept hearing it but I have no idea what to do at this point. It never left the bathroom, though, at least not this time.
No trains all weekend but it'll happen tonight I'm sure.
Computer froze twice on Saturday. That never happens. And yesterday too, after I finished and saved a lot of work.

Virus scan was not finished by bedtime so I left the computer on all night. The 6-digit number was really big. It came on last night and stayed on.
Computer has frozen several times but not today.
I saw both Roys but I got lucky. The obituaries happened afterward so I was lucky there were no signal problems. Chad interviewed his third grade teacher and there was a photo of him with her!
Only two trains this week but they were both going in the same direction so when did it go back the other way?
I keep seeing the mouse. It escaped from another glue trap and there's something stuck to it so I can't use it again. See the Food Thread for where I got bait, but I watched the mouse just drag the bait away without making contact with the trap.
I found my other red shoe. I haven't had a red shoe to wear on patriotic holidays. I wore salmon instead, or a darker pink. I also have nicer shoes for church I'm afraid to mess up.

My computer has come on several times during the night but turned itself off. I even saw this happen after it had been on a few seconds. I don't even remember when it last froze.
The train made its return trip very late Friday night. I would keep hearing it, then I wouldn't. Maybe the breaks were when it was loading or unloading. There has to be a reason it is going to those places.
No more evidence of the mouse lately, though the reaps seem to be in different places.
I had to change the light bulb in the room with the computer and it was blue. All the light bulbs I have bought that weren't fluorescent tubes were yellow. I saw that this was daylight but didn't think about what that would mean. It doesn't really make me feel like the room is lighted by natural light, but by those fluorescent tubes. Also, it was hard to reach that high and the cover is hard to put on.
And I heard a cricket in the kitchen.

I forgot to post here on Friday so I need to do twice as much now.
Another cricket in the kitchen but it's not that noisy. I almost caught it but it jumped too fast.
I thought the mouse was gone, though I did find "evidence" and I actually saw it one night. It jumped to try to get to its hole. I did see a newspaper column with some advice I'm going to follow. Mice hate dryer sheets. The first time I put one out, it just ran past it into the room where I was watching TV and disappeared. There is one above its hole but as I add others, I will try to stick them in the hole and see if that repels the mouse.
I used a new style light bulb so I wouldn't have to take the cover off again. But it flickers. That's annoying when it happens, though it hasn't happened that much. What I know is that what the bulb screws into is loose.
On four nights a train came through last week, but on only one of the nights did the train come through in both directions. The return trip was just before sunrise. Strangely, after I never heard a return trip for one of the trains last week, there was only a return trip one night. One of those trains was in storage?
Computer had come on several times during the night. Virus scan finished but as usual, 58 percent at bedtime so I need to leave it on all night. This week I'll see if pausing works if I press the sleep button.
The only reason I saw both Roys is the morning broadcast. A school shooting meant continuous coverage on Wednesday.

I forgot one thing. My mattress pad won't stay tucked in. The good news it's the one that protects the nice one, and so far the nice one stays tucked in. However, it's the other end of the mattress pad and there's no way to make it stay now.
I keep hearing what sound like crickets jumping but they don't make other noises.
So far the mouse has not been discouraged. I don't put out traps because the last time it got away. I have plenty of dryer sheets and I'm going to hope that works, but I keep hearing mouse noises and seeing "evidence".
Light bulb is behaving.
The return trip finally happened for one train, really late. I've lost track of what happened when but one night the train had made a return trip when it came back just before sunrise. Last night in came through before bedtime but made the return trip really late.
I remembered the virus scan but there's no pause button so I can't use the sleep button. It just stays on.
I did not see the second Roy this week because of Mindy. I'm wondering if I'll ever see another one live. This is more serious than that. I had to replace a TiVo and so far I'm not getting the good signal I was before, and I might not be able to solve this problem. See the weather thread.

Stomped on a cricket but it was gone before I did it and I heard it at night, or at least one like it.
Computer came on and stayed on at night.
A pair of locomotives came through this morning. I heard a train Friday night. Don't know what promoted the change or what it will mean. I don't even know who is benefitting since the one big industry I know about shut down. There are others but what are they getting from two locomotives?
No mouse, no evidence but I keep hearing noises that could be a mouse.
I'm dreading trying to watch Roy this afternoon. All I can say is I hope holding the antenna will work. My new TiVo was promised by September 11 but I was also told it would take six days. It hasn't arrived yet. So I'm glad I'm not at the beach and having to ask someone to pick it up when it arrives. I did see the FedEx van but it was delivering to someone else.

Standing in front of the TV is all I need to do to watch Roy. However, the signal is not good enough if I don't and I might be gone next week. I have to solve this problem to record anything else with an antenna when I'm not right there.
I got my new TiVo but haven't set it up.
I thought trains at night was over. A train came through during the day going in both directions on Wednesday. Last night I heard one in the middle of the night, and the return trip was this morning while I was out walking. \ Virus scan finished by bedtime!
I can't even remember the last time the computer froze.
I can't keep my bed covered except for the fact the premium mattress pad is staying in place. I need something to cover it.
I keep hearing mouse noises, or something that might be a mouse. Last night I saw it come out of its hole despite my dryer sheets. Maybe it was very determined. I didn't see it go anywhere, though. Also, the noises were in the other room.
Light bulb in the living room is mostly behaving. I finally had to position the light bulb in the refrigerator so it wouldn't come on.

Computer just froze.
I solved my Roy problem. Don't know how. I was just fiddling with the wire from the antenna. I had put a new TiVo on top of the slightly older one and that messed up the wire to the point I wasn't getting a signal at all. I succeeded in getting a signal if I held on to the connection, but amazingly, what I did next worked. And I mean as well as in the past with the old TiVo.
And putting the new TiVo on top of the slightly older one and the old one caused everything to fall, along with the antenna. Plugging in the surge protector did the same thing, and the TV even fell.
I set up the new TiVo but had to move it so I could hook it up to cable, because if something goes wrong with my older one while I am still using cable, I didn't have the option with the special offer to choose a machine that could do both, and even when the person checked, there weren't any and I should go to Best Buy or somewhere to see "if" they have one. It was something I had to do before going to the beach, and I didn't know how the price would compare since if I went to a store I wouldn't get to take advantage of the deal.
I did end up going to Best Buy anyway to get a TV because Target didn't have one as small as I needed and the store where I bought the last one didn't sell the smaller one. I don't have room for anything bigger or want to spend more.
The trains have been coming through during the day. Going in both directions. I want to know why there are so many cars that look empty because the one place where they might be filled is north of where I am, and these empty cars were passing me going south.
I put out food for the mouse and it's gone. I saw a huge bug running around and I heard noises that could have been the bug or the mouse.

At least my Roy problem was solved. I seem to recall the computer freezing at least once. I did the virus scan. However, I managed to unplug my monitor while unplugging my modem when the computer was slow as it turned on but may not have been the cause of error messages.
I saw the mouse but I saw the bug go in a box. I put the box outside in the trash.
Actually, my other TV was larger but cheaper, but the small one works better. The remote did not come with batteries and if that's not bad enough, I put the ones I had in it backwards and had the worst time getting them out. Finally I put batteries in and this TV was much easier to set up. They had very specific directions, while the other one had "Pas de signal" and provided me with no other information. Calling the 800 number didn't help. I did eventually stumbled on the solution.
And that was the only easy thing I did all week. Transferring shows from one TiVo to another has not been working. The Wi-fi didn't work so I had to unplug the cord from the old one, so all I could do was move shows from the one that wasn't as old to the new one. Next I will plug the cord back in and move shows from the old one to the newer one. Since I was recently told the old one would likely go bad, I eventually have to move everything off the old one, but that's not an emergency at this point.
I called TiVo and got help with getting my transferring of shows restarted.
There is something called a CableCard which someone has to come to my house to install. At first I thought I could move the card from the old TiVo to the new, and then I realized if I mess up I'm in trouble. I might be able to keep both TiVos but it's risky to assume.
In the process of making the call to get this done (and I had a hard time explaining what a CableCard was) I had to get my bill to have a code I had to give them. I decided to look at why my cable bill is so high, which I should have done a long time ago. My oldest TiVo has been full and I haven't been bothering to move shows off of it so I can record more. And yet without even using the machine, I've been paying nearly $10 a month! I thought it was more like $2 a month, but if I give up what is called a DTA, I can no longer use the oldest TiVo for anything but watching shows I already recorded. I can't watch shows on the TV since the TiVo and the DTA together acted as a converter box. After more than 12 years, I guess that's okay. Id the man coming to my house can take it with him, that will work. If not, I have to go to a UPS store.
Trains are coming though during the day.

Roy seems to have recorded okay but I haven't checked.

Not sure how old the evidence of the mouse is, but the crumbs are still near the trap. There is a gag present that includes a traditional mousetrap at a store called Gay Dolphin which sells ... everything.
Ice melted in my freezer. I left the door open a little. It was still open when I returned home. I shouldn't have done that, but it worked. Milk is no longer frozen but it's watery.

Forgot to mention the virus scan did fine. My computer froze twice over the weekend, mysteriously stopped working once yesterday, and got an error message when I tried to save a long email so I wouldn't lose it like I sometimes do. Plus everything was very large when I turned the computer on Sunday which can only be dealt with by turning the computer off, which takes time and might not let me return to what I was doing.
My turkey burgers were really dark. I hope that's not a bad thing. I mentioned melting the ice in my freezer.
Forgot the Food Thread but I'll go there in a minute.
Roy did mostly fine yesterday. But I am now without the ability to record with my oldest TiVo that is still in use, unless I move it. I told the man the newest TiVo was in a temporary location, but he went ahead and added a "jumper" and put it in so tight I can't remove it. This is a problem because while he was there to install a Cable Card, he asked if I needed a digital tuner. I've gotten along fine without one but he put one in anyway. Since I only get a few channels, the digital tuner is not necessary. I found this out when the other one stopped working right. If I am ever asked to hook the TV or TiVo directly to cable without the digital tuner being involved, I can't. What I didn't realize is that I don't even need the second cable card if my oldest TiVo isn't in use. My even older TiVo wasn't being used and I was paying all this money for the ability to use it, but now all I can do with it is watch programs I already recorded on it. If that's not enough, unless I buy a $20 cable I can't watch the shows I record on the new TiVo using the old one that is easier to use, and the old TV that I can turn on and off without a remote and on which things don't look so "real". The man who was putting in the Cable Card didn't know a lot about them and I seemed to know more about what to do. I was counting on him to just put the thing in the machine and then make the phone calls and do the setting up. And he was on the phone the whole time asking questions and giving information that he was able to get only because I knew what to select with the remote. And even I had kind of a hard time because the new TiVo is harder to use, thought sometimes it's easier to use. It does do some things automatically that the older one doesn't.
I may have seen the mouse, but not lately.

I got an email yesterday from the man who does the news reports. I don't know if that will result in anything, but I used the list of stories I missed from this thread. The one I missed on Wednesday was already online. Yes, after all the work I did to get the antenna and its wire positioned right, I was back where I was and nothing I did seemed to solve the problem. I saw the story for a few seconds. Ten minutes later things were back to normal but I don't know whether that can continue.
But my troubles with recording just got ten times worse. If I can't solve my problems I may have to move the oldest TiVo that I can use to another room. Right now I can only use the listings on the oldest TiVo and manually record like in the days when I used a VCR. If I can make things work I can get a "one pass" which means I record every episode of a series, or every new episode. The new TiVo apparently hates "Riverdale" and won't let me do it. I've had other problems recording TV episodes. In one case I just forgot to make sure I recorded an entire hour instead of just a half hour. At least I hope that's what happened, because if I messed up on other hour shows, there are a lot of those. I'm a week behind because of the beach, but I decided to watch episodes last night that I had just recorded. Doing this is already harder. But that's when the recordings worked. And there's all this confusing stuff. It stopped in the middle of an episode and asked if I wanted to do something and I couldn't figure out how to get back to the episode. Some of the newer TiVos will let me use the old software, but this one won't.
Virus scan worked fine but the computer has frozen on several occasions.
I have seen no evidence of a mouse and I don't think I've heard it either but I might have.

I haven't heard any more about Roy. I was hoping that the fact they responded would mean something.
The new TiVo is getting easier to use. I couldn't get an old remote to work so now I have to keep up with different remotes and I usually pick up the wrong one and nothing happens. The biggest problem is I have to go back to the main menu anytime I do anything, because the key sequence I used to use won't work any more.
The old TiVo can only show programs transferred or already recorded. It looks like it's recording but there's nothing there to record. I also forgot to record one thing but it's on the list for the new one.
Computer froze once over the weekend. I managed to avoid it yesterday.
No mouse.
I got a new credit card in the mail which I had to activate by calling the 800 number.

No response about Roy. Maybe I need to contact them again. There are four stories I haven't seen all or part of. There's no easy way to figure out where they are. There are no stories on the web site that look like they'd be Sept. 8.
This week, though, I saw both Roys. I hope I haven't messed up the signal but I had to adjust the wire going to the antenna so I could record ABC shows, just as a precaution. I'm still having difficulty learning to use my new TiVo. Not too much, but some.
I may have seen a mouse quickly go into hiding under the bed. I know for sure the bait is now missing. I sometimes hear noises that could be a mouse.
Virus scan required leaving the computer on all night after I had to restart and didn't start the scan soon enough.

I just remembered. I thought I wasted my time when I forgot that I am no longer looking at August newspapers and saw an article about Fred when it hadn't hit the area yet. But when I got a message from newspapers.com about some newspapers that weren't complete, I checked and saw that the one that was missing entirely was there. Oh, that means I need to look at it. Hey, wait, I just did. I forgot that I was supposed to be looking for September 16, not August 16.
And I almost didn't make it in time for Roy, but just in time, I managed to hold the wire from the antenna just right and it stayed that way and except for one car, I got a perfect signal for the whole story.

Mouse? Try mice. They were very noisy. One was really small and disappeared quickly. I went to where I saw one go and removed some books but saw no evidence. Either the mouse is very fast or there are several. And I did see a regular sized mouse several times. I put out a glue trap but it got moved. And I saw the mouse after that. I put out a new glue trap. Also, last night I kept hearing squeaking noises but don't usually.
Computer froze today after I typed a lot and I had to type it again.
Virus scan did fine.
When I paid my phone bill I was told I could get faster Internet. This likely meant a new modem too and I've been having problems. I said come Monday but the person would have to call me when she arranged for someone to come. When she did the person was to come this morning. And they were early. My modem light was blinking and I kept turning it off and turning it back on. Nothing helped. I finally realized it's the work they're doing to upgrade my Internet. I hoped they could avoid coming inside but I was told the existing wire would not handle the higher speed and the man would have to drill a hole. Given where he was looking, I didn't think I could let him, so I said my existing speed was fine. I had some trouble with videos but not much. He said the work they already did would likely help anyway. If there is another opportunity, I'll find out where they think they should drill and if I can move what needs to be moved I will. But today was not going to be that day.
My grandfather had a hoe. At least I think it was his. Where I put it when I was through pulling ivy off the building where my rake and wheelbarrow go and off a tree, ;pulling out the rake and wheelbarrow made it fall and hit my head. That hurt!
Roy did fine on Wednesday but I did remember. Also, I'm no longer on some judge show when I turn the TV on. I've been using the recording to adjust the antenna.

The mouse is dead! Found it in the toilet I don't use and threw it in the trash. I didn't cinsider it needs water. Where has it been getting water? No babies if that's what I saw.
Forgot Roy but when I transferred the recording it was a full 30 minutes. I'm hopeful. Over the weekend I checked and the signal was messed up. I tried adjusting the wire and nothing worked. Then the antenna fell. As I put it back on top of the TV which is not in use, success!
Computer froze once.
Yesterday when I went to get milk where it is cheaper because I was about to run out and I was going there anyway, it seemed everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Restroom floor is wet but I was lucky the man let me go in there. No paper bag for the Xerox copies I was making. They found me a box. I almost didn't make it to a restroom when I was taking my walk in a residential neighborhood. And I had to park my car on the second floor of the garage. I'm parking where it says I will get towed, because they don't enforce the rule. Newspapers were missing at the library until someone actually made an effort to find them. Twice. I couldn't stand in line at the fast food place but I walked up to the cash register when the person ahead of me had been waited on and was told no one is working that register. Five people who were behind me ended up getting their order taken before I did. I saw a watch I liked and it was twice what I paid for the old one. The shirt I wanted which wasn't on sale was gone. I did find a watch for just $7 and bought it. It looks good and may actually work. I have it set on standard time so i have to remember. But I don't want the problems I have with the old watch. I'll use it again next Spring, at which time I'll be willing to pay for a band. I dropped the first gallon of milk and it broke and made a mess. I don't have to pay when that happens but it was just bad.
