So just cutting off their arms makes zombies docile enough to walk at "heel?" Why wouldn't they still try to eat the living even without arms?

She did something to their mouths. When they can no longer eat, they lose the desire to try to bite.

Only saw about 1/3 of the episode, but did see that the mandible ("jawbone") had been hacked off. That way they can't bite. But if they can't eat, what happens to them? If they don't just wither and die then why are they hungry? Will watch the rest when I get home. Woodbury looks like he's gonna be major league psycho. He's too nice right now. Plus he seem to have "tamed" Merle.(?)

MAJOR SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS EPISODE.I rated this episode a 5 because it introduced some very interesting characters and brought both Andrea and Merle back into the drama. Now that Andrea has been given medication, she is feeling better and apparently looking for a lover. I think Andrea might choose to stay at the compound. Michonne is wiser and does not trust anyone at the compound. She was smart enough to use some walkers as protection and has helped keep Andrea alive for eight months. She is deadly with a blade so the dude who keeps staring at her should look elsewhere for a lover. Governor is more psycho than I would have ever imagined. My goodness, he is 10 times worse than Tomas of last week's episode. I gave the episode a 5 in spite of Rick and his crew being absent. That would never happen on Supernatural. j/s

There was a blurb regarding Robert Kirkman's favorite changes from the comic book to the TV series. I could not find it on AMCTV.com so I took a screen shot of the TV. Click on the image to enlarge. Nos. 1 and 2 - amazing revisions that change the dynamics of the series.

Great episode, but I didn't think it worth a 5. The governor is going to be as creepy as we all thought he would be. Why would he kill the soldiers? Wouldn't they be a good addition to the men who are guarding Woodbury? How is the governor controlling Merle. Merle was badass, but when the governor tells him to back off, Merle gets very quiet and aquieces. Who is the scientist? He creeps me out as well. Especially the way he keeps staring at Mihonne. I agree that Andrea is looking to get laid. You'd think that after 8 months of wandering in the wilderness, she'd be more concerned about her safety than getting a new lover. But, she was an attorney before the world went sideways so maybe that's why she's such a twit. Good new characters....the little world is expanding....and that's a good thing. And the fish tanks full of zombie heads? Jeez...... I can hardly wait for next week's episode.

Governor looked and acted like a politician but we knew something was strange when Merle and others seemed in awe of him. I think there are two reasons he might have killed the soldiers. 1) Soldiers might have taken control of Woodbury and ousted Governor as leader (Rick never trusts strangers to join his group either). 2) He's a psycho killer and is using the alleged death of soldiers by walkers to intimidate his people into staying. Maybe Merle has seen Governor do even more horrendous things than we have seen so far. Merle is lusting for revenge, but I think he needs to get his brother away from Rick first. That scientist probably wants to experiment on Michonne. I want to see Michonne's story.

Agreed, Anti. Governor must be incredibly badass to seeminly "tame" Merle. I wonder how his brother will react when he sees Merle is alive. He seems to have evolved a bit since becoming a part of "the group." Wonder if a reunion with his brother will destroy that. When Governor looked at that picture....the one with him, wife and kid, he looked very vulnerable. I suppose that is what sent him over the edge. He might have been a good person before but is one of those people turns evil in desperate times. Rick seems to be cut from the same cloth. His killing of Tomas (in retaliation for Tomas' pushing a walker on him) seems to be exactly what Governor would have done. I wonder if you're right about the "scientist?" Michonne better watch her back. I would like to see her have at least one other expression than the one she CONSTANTLY has plastered on her face now. She looks constipated. Looking forward to next week. It's reunion time!
