Watching the new episode now. Things have definitely changed. No way Rick would have left a surviving human alone on the road in previous seasons. WOW, what a surprise! SPOILER in invisotext. They almost killed the very first guy Rick met in episode 1 that was still alive!

SPOILERS IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE EPISODEThis was a good episode and it showed a shift in some of the relationships that should be very interesting. When Carl gave his approval by saying "She might be one of us.", I thought "alright!" I have been looking forward all season for Rick and Morgan to reunite. I am not happy with the way they left Morgan but I think I understand it. Morgan believes his weakness led to the death of his son and his way of atoning for that is to "clear". I think that means he must clear the world - at least his part of the world - of walkers. I do not believe it is Rick's fault at all that Morgan went crazy. Wanting a crib and family photo for Judith shows a little softness in Carl, but he has become a tough kid and it showed in the way he did not seem to care that they drove past the guy with the backpack. At the end, when they drove past, then backed up to take the pack, that was too cold. Michonne I knew from the beginning I would like Michonne and she is a great asset. I had someone to watch the episode with and that made it even more fun. I explained the significance of backpack guy was that they would never have left him out there alone when the troubles started, but now they do not trust strangers.

Yes, that's it exactly. But I had another interpretation of Morgan's wish to clear. SPOILERS IN INVISOTEXT BELOW: I saw it as a wish to die .

MisterMoonlight, when I read the invisotext, my reaction was "Oh! " I believe you have summarized his reality.

Maybe not. I just read this in an Entertainment Weekly interview with creator Robert Kirkman:
Morgan talked about “clearing” a couple of times — and episode was titled “Clear.” What does that mean?
It means a lot of things. To a certain extent it’s the ravings of a lunatic but it’s also about him trying to clear out his life and clear out any entanglements around him. He’s living by himself so he’s trying to have a clear head. It’s basically about him getting rid of his wife and getting rid of his son and the only way for him to survive is to clear the area around him.

Not reading any of the above until I get home from work today and can watch what I recorded last night. Must have been a really good one to get such early input!!! Great, great episode! If there were a poll, I'd give it a 5. Carl is just so grown-up. Neither his dad nor the mysterious Michonne can intimidate him. Of course, he is still a little kid and some of his bravado may get him into future trouble, but as yet, he is really earning his keep. I think Michonne is also becoming more a part of the group. Her interactions with Carl were great. I can't believe Carl was willing to risk his life to get a picture for Judith of her mom. So sweet. As for Morgan. What can I say? I've missed him since the first episodes of season 1 and had pretty much given him up. I was sorry to see that the death of his son by his zombie wife had driven him over the edge. Part of me thought that the group at the prison should all move to this town where they had tons of weapons and zombie alarms and traps. Still wondering why they're going back to the place where the governor knows where they are? I felt sorry for the lone man running along the road. Part of me wanted them to stop and add him to their group, but I guess they're just too leary of any new faces. The fact that they saw he had been eaten was really sad. And a bit cold that they stopped to pick up his backpack. Looks like we're in for a fight next week. Andrea had better choose sides.

It was my favorite TWD episode yet. Does anyone know what (spoilers) Morgan meant when he told Rick he needed to CLEAR? And after he said that, Rick didn't put up a fight to convince Morgan to go with the group (spoilers)

I didn't see it as him telling Rick he wanted to die... if he did, he had a whole bunch of weapons he could've used. I missed Talking Dead. Maybe they explained it

Holy Scientology, Batman!
I had no idea that word described a state of mind. Now the writings on the walls and Morgan's conversation with Rick make everything clear.
MisterMoonlight, thank you for the information even though it will kill the debate about what Morgan meant. The Scientologists would have known immediately, but I doubt they watched the episode.

Stow those engrams in your utility belt, Robin. There's the bat-signal. And I smell zombies!

They had two separate conversations about what they thought "clear" meant. When Chris H. said he thought it meant nine different things, I thought he would touch on the "state of mind" meaning, but he did not. They had no more information than we did, but it was a nice discussion. The idea of suicide was shot down.

Carl is an amazing character and Rick needs to show strength or Carl will be running the group instead of him.

idk...I guess that with all of the events that have changed this world...there is a need to find some point of sanity.
With all of said events comes a flood of uncharted emotions.
To be 'Clear' means to understand just what is going on around you...and either adapting yourself...or modifying the world to fit.
..and this is just a fancy way of saying 'Kill every walker that you see'
