Well, SPN-ites, Sam is getting in over his head. He's dealing with Rowena. Will she really help with the Book of the Dead or will she, as we all suspect, double-cross Sam and somehow harm Dean? How does Benny play into this? Will we see anything of Metatron? Watch, rate and discuss here.

I enjoyed the episode. Dean was in top form when he wiped out the vamps single-handed. But I give him kudos for admitting he should have waited for Sam and for apologizing. There was a time that Dean would have had difficulty admitting he was wrong. I was happy to see Benny again even though he was a hallucination. I always believed Dean was less stressed while in Purgatory than he is top-side and they stayed true to that realization.
It is interesting that the one who goes to the basement does not become suicidal, but others do. Anyway, the only time Rowena did anything worthwhile was to help Sam decipher the code on the door. But that witch was very willing to let Sam bleed to death even though Dean was available. Die witch die!
Sam is really piling on the lies and Dean is going to be really pissed off when he finally figures it out.

Good episode. The only thing that bothered me is.. that poor woman died because of Sam and no one seemed to care ? I get that he's in a hurry to find a cure for Dean but the way he rushed in and opened that box with no plan was fucking stupid.

Wasn't she just an illusion Sam started seeing after the box opened?

Wasn't she just an illusion Sam started seeing after the box opened? I am glad you mentioned that because that part was unclear to me. When Rowena disappeared after Sam opened the box, I thought she was just an illusion. But when the dead woman/illusion was trying to get Sam to kill himself with a gun, Rowena appeared and did something magical to snap Sam out of it. She then said she did not bring enough of the magic for Dean. Was that also an illusion and Sam actually snapped himself out of it? I don't know.

Hi , I thought this was good, it had some interesting themes in it. I will be honest, I never trusted Benny when he was in S8, I always thought he would double-cross Dean and in the end he actually helped Sam and Dean out, so for that I was always grateful to him about that. I enjoyed seeing him again, I think since he and Dean had shared Purgatory experiences that he was always able to understand that part of Dean. The part of him that was single minded and focused on the task at hand, and none of the worries that he has now. Poor Sammy, please someone give him a hug, he needs some support and reassurance. In his desperation to save Dean he is making some questionable choices and I wonder just how far will he go, although based on what we saw in "Mystery Spot" he will go as far as he has to. I think his "partnership" with Rowena will end badly for TFW, I think she will make the most of her situation. I can tolerate this version of Rowena, when she isn't so over the top. Dean, I think he needs a hug too. You can see how he is trying so hard to stay on top of the MOC and is starting to crack, when would he ever take on a vamp nest with 6 vamps? I also think he knows Sam is up to something, he has given Sam some very knowing looks in the last 2 episodes. Last episode at the end when they clinked the bottle, Dean looked at Sam like he knew something, and in this one when he got in the car and said hi Sam, he again had that same look. He may not know the extent of what Sam is doing, but he knows his brother well enough to know Sam is not going to sit around and do nothing. I only hope that when Sam and Cas come clean, Dean isn't too mad and does something that he can't come back from. I don't normally try and overthink what we see on screen, but I was curious as to why when Dean was in his "trance" he saw Benny, and when Sam was in his he saw Rowena. I don't think Rowena was at the house, I think that is what Sam imagined, but it was a surprise to find out she wasn't real. Perhaps Dean saw Benny because the MOC bring s out that side of Dean that Benny understood more than anyone else. Maybe Sam saw Rowena because of the guilt he feels over working with her? I don't know.

I enjoyed what I saw, which was probably half of the episode. I was really tired and fell asleep a couple of times.
the best 2 parts for me were: 1> Dean telling Benny he knew he was not real because the real Benny would not want Dean to die and 2> when Sam locked Rowena up in a cellar and left her there to try to figure out the Book to help Dean.
