Here's the first official photo of the CW's new Green Arrow. played by Stephen Amell. What do you think? Why does that shot remind me of Game of Thrones? For comparison, here's how Green Arrow looks in the comics: And here's how he looked on Smallville

The darkness causes him to appear sinister. He was a rather light-hearted lovable character in Smallville most of the time. But I am looking forward to seeing what they do with him. Now I need to look up Amell.

I don't think I'd like a dark Green Arrow series... but maybe I'll give it a try. It would be a HUGE irony of they put this show in Smallville's old spot.

Ok, here's the not-so-good news, from Herc over on Ain't It Cool News:
"The “Arrow” pilot was co-written by Greg Berlanti, the longtime “Dawson’s Creek” showrunner whose last superhero series was the horrible “No Ordinary Family.” Berlanti also wrote the terrible “Green Lantern” movie."
Now I actually enjoyed some of 'No Ordinary Family' and followed it to the bitter end, but I always wanted it to be better and special.
And as far as the Green Lantern movie, I agree. What a bitter disappointment for longtime GL fans. Ryan Reynolds is NOT Hal Jordan, and the only scene worth a damn was the very final one, and that was straight out of the comics--the only scene that showed us who Hal Jordan really was as a hero.
We won't even get into how lousy the CGI effects were.
My interest is always in the writing. And Smallivlle had the benefit of Joss Whedon protege Steven DeKnight for many of the best episodes, and DC Comics ultra-writer Jeff Loeb for a while as well.
Who knows, maybe the synergy will work, but I'm filled with doubts as to the pedigree of writers chosen. Let's hope for the best, and see what happens.
Of course, unlike the CW Lounge, we'll have a forum for the show here well before it airs.

He is a little Robin Hood/medieval looking.
