Is anyone watching? I am sorry that the UK only has eight episodes, it just isn't fair. Want to hear something embarrassing? I was watching Ep. 5 online and Hal quotes Keats. My toes curled. I watched that portion at least ten times - it's very short. I then promptly bought a book of Keats poems and letters.

I am watching, albeit I'm behind a bit. Just started episode 2, but it's one of my favorite shows.
I agree that 8 episodes is frustratingly short, however what I really love is on the BBC you get almost a full hour's worth of show per episode, as opposed to about 42 minutes for American shows, and that extra time allows a glorious, almost languid sense of completeness in the story-telling.
I love that it's serial, too, as opposed to episodic, the main thrust is continuing to tell the story over an entire season, versus wrapping things up neatly at the end of each show a la a crime procedural.
Toby Whithouse, thankfully doesn't have to be constrained to the forumulaic 'beats' of American writing at certain points to allow for commercial breaks, since he doesn't have to ('there's got to be an inciting incident at 17:00 minutes into the show," for example.) As a result, you get a certain richness that makes American conventions seem trite. I'm sure that none of us will ever forget Mitchell's death, and the emotional impact that had. I get the feeling when watching the British version, that we're seeing masterful storytelling.
I'm with ya on Keats, too. Amazing to have that great an influence on literature from someone who only lived 25 years. He died way too young, but due to his work, he's immortal.

Honestly? I've not seen this, but as mentioned in the previous thread I dated the sister of Lenora Crichlow, Franchesta (Fran) Criclow, so I always felt a little bit of a bond to the show! I'll say this right away, Lenora is every bit as sweet and awesome in real life as she seems! I'll hold my comment on Fran....

It may take me a few days to catch up, but I promise I will. I loved Annie and Pearl's cattiness over who was the 'better' ghost in episode 2. Oh nos!!!! While looking up Pearl's name I just found out that Lenora won't be in season 5!!!! I haven't watched past episode 2, so please don't spoil me, unless you use invisotext.

The Britains are there discussing it, and all of the thread titles are spoilers in themselves.
