I wish that I could give you a direct link here, but it's from CBS News via the Ain't It Cool website, so you have to click on the link, then go to it. If you don't know who he is, please check out the video at the top of the page, from CBS News. www.aintitcool.com/node/54818Heroes are hard to come by these days, and he's been one to all of us who worked in broadcasting. We won't see his like again. But hopefully he will inspire others. Undoubtedly he will. Goodbye, Mike, and good job. I'll miss you. You were one of a kind.

Seriously, is there anyone who doesn't know who Mike Wallace is?
One of our posters didn't know who BOB HOPE was. Only the greatest stand-up comic ever. Oh, sure, he mostly told bad jokes and people like Aeryn wouldn't have cared for his style, but it was ability to tell jokes. And he entertained the troops and numerous war zones.

Mike Wallace was a broadcaster who could be trusted. I did not wonder if anything he reported was embellished or politically motivated. I wish I could have that same confidence in broadcasting that I always had in him.

Amen to that. Mike was a broadcaster from back in the day when bias was anathema and the truth was all that was important. Here is 60 Minutes goodbye to him. It's about 40 minutes long, but I couldn't pull myself away the entire time. It's titled "Saying Farewell to the Extraordinary Mike Wallace" : www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7405528n&tag=pop;videos

Thank you Mistermoonlight for the video. Just watched it while on the bus. Excellent tribute and I learned things I did not know about Mike Wallace.

I saw "60 Minutes" Sunday night. Back in 1994 I decided not to watch any more news magazines because there were too many and I didn't have time. I made no exception even for "60 Minutes" except for a few stories. Maybe this was a mistake.
