The Adventures of Black Beauty is a British children's television drama series produced by London Weekend Television and shown by ITV in the United Kingdom between 1972 and 1974. It was distributed internationally by London Weekend International.

Two seasons were produced, the first airing from September 1972 to March 1973 and the second from September 1973 to March 1974. Although it was mainly aimed at children, it was shown in the Sunday teatime family timeslot and gained a wide audience, becoming popular enough to make the general Top 20 ratings. It was repeated regularly, although often on a regional basis, for many years, its last full repeat run being on Sunday mornings from 1986 to 1988. It also aired in the United States on Nickelodeon in the 1980s and is currently shown on some affiliates of the Retro Television Network.

Black Beauty is an 1877 novel by English author Anna Sewell. It was composed in the last years of her life, during which she remained in her house as an invalid. The novel became an immediate bestseller, with Sewell dying just five months after its publication, long enough to see her first and only novel become a success. With fifty million copies sold, Black Beauty is one of the best-selling books of all time. While forthrightly teaching animal welfare, it also teaches how to treat people with kindness, sympathy and respect. Black Beauty became a forerunner to the pony book genre of children's literature.

i like British serie really and i'am french but i continue to think the Brit have the best actors of the West World i remember christopher Lee, Peter Cushing etc

Black Beauty is truly one of my favorite stories of all time. I've loved this story since I was a child. I still own the book, tattered cover and all! Though I'd love to get a replacement since my copy is pretty old so I can shelve my childhood copy and have it as a keepsake. My parents bought me an old cartoon movie of Black Beauty that my cousin Matthew and I used to watch when we were very young children. Then when the actual movie came out, I fell in love with that too. I've never seen the TV series, but I'm very familiar with this story, the characters, the horses and the plot. It's a wonderful story and I have hopes that my little boy will read it too since we're kind of a family of horse lovers.
