Happy Supernatural Friday Everyone and Happy Renewal for Season 8!!!!!

After an extremely entertaining guest star and a great eppy last week I’m excited to see what this week has in store. I want more Bobby! I want some old Cas! I still want the damn Metallicar!!!! Is it 9pm yet?

Neighbor, Michigan....some guy named Kevin Tran playing Cello.

The boys setting up at some site probably to get into the clay.

Kevin finishes practice and his friend calls him. They are talking about school and writing an essay. This kid kinda looks like a Chinese Michael Jackson....just sayin!

Yep the boys are tring to break open the clay. Every hit causes lightnng outside. Dean realizes it but keeps going. It's some kind of tablet.

Poor Kevin just got hit by lightning in his own house. Uh oh.................

Off to Cas in the psych ward with Meg sitting by his side reading a magazine. Whoa he just sat up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kevin's Mom just called him to wish him luck on his test but he's still unconscious on the floor. He just woke up and he's late. Whoa WTH his eyes just lit up like he's having a vision.

Sam's researching something on his laptop. Dean is just waking up and goes to the sink to wash his face. A cup moves and they realize Bobby is there but can't appear cause he has no juice left after what happened with Dick.

HAHA Meg called Sam to tell him about Cas. She called him Bullwinkle.
Dean grabbed the phone and asked why she didn't call sooner cause he's been awake for a while.
Meg: "Hey Seacrest, not a nurse. I just play one on TV"

Kevin is driving in his Mom's car to who knows where. His friend called him to find out where he's been and he missed his test. His eyes flashed and he said he's chosen cause it's his birthrite. Chosen for what??

Cas is standing in the hospital looking out the window wearing his trenchcoat. Dean is afraid to go in cause he doesn't know what they will find. They walked in. Cas looks petty normal. Dean and Sam look glad he's talking.

Cas "Pull my finger" Dean looks uncomfy. Whoa Dean pulled his finger and the bulbs all burst in the room out. Cas started laughing.

Cas heard a bing that pierced him and he woke up. Sam just showed him the tablet. Cas realizes the boys freed his mind.
"I love you guys" Cas hugged the boys then....OMG Cas is talking about a cats penis being barbed and it's not fair for the female felines.

They want to know what the tablet says. It's a Metatron(word of God) but Cas can't read it. Meg wants to look. Dean won't let her see it. She got pissed and Cas left. He doesn't like conflict. Crap he dropped the tablet and it's broke in a few pieces.

Meg is going to find Cas. Sam chased her and left the tablet on the floor. Of course he just went back to the room and it's gone! That Kevin kid stole it.

Cas is sitting in the cafeteria. LOL

Sam is chasing Kevin all over the yard outside the hospital. Meg just closelined the kid. Sam is trying to grab the tablet but Kevin can't let go of it.

Dean looks disappointed"you realize you just broke God's word"
Dean thinks it has to do with taking on Sam's "scars" Dean wants Cas to help them take down Leviathan. He's asking if he remembers what he did.

Cas just grabbed the board game Sorry! He shook the box and it set up by itself on the table. "You want to go first?"

Sam and Meg are questioning Kevin about what is in the bag. He doesn't even know what he grabbed. Sam made him open it. OMG the kid just pulled out pieces and it fused back together.

Cas and Dean are playing Sorry! Cas is talking about homosapiens. Dean is asking him questions about Metatron but Cas just wants to play. "Why should I prosper from your misfortune" Dean is pissed cause Cas just won't admit anything. "I'm sorry Dean" "NO You're playing Sorry!"

Kevin is reading the tablet. It's about Leviathan. god locked them up because they are bad. Meg's eyes just turned black. The lights started flicking. Kevin just freaked out and 2 other people just appeared.

Cas knows Sam is talking to angels. The angel wants to take Kevin cause he's a propet. She wants to kill Meg and Sam. "A demon whore and a Winchester. Again!" Esther and the other angel just saw Cas. The guy is surprised to see Cas.

Cas knows Esther wants answers. He wants to teach them. OMG He told her too pull his finger.
Dean just made all the angels disappear.
Kevin is flipping out on the bed. Dean just looked at him like WTH is that. Sam "It's Kevin Tran. He's in advance placement"

Seems the boys are explaining about Leviathan and angels. Dean "No junk. Junkless"
The boys want to know how to kill Dick. Kevin doesn't know. Meg wants to GTFO!

Oh crap the boys are at a gas station and there is a news report about Kevin being missing.

Meg is standing outside reading a magazine. There are a few demons outside and she's a bit freaked.
They are on the road again. Kevin just woke up.
Cas just called Meg. He's in Perth, with angry dogs chasing rabbits. She told him exactly where to go to find them.
Cas just appeared. Meg introduced Cas to Kevin. Cas just poked Kevin in the nose.
Cas is freakin insane. He's just going on and on. Cas is concerned about Meg. She told him to shutup.

They are at their hideout now.
Kevin is concerned...
"This looks like a sex torture dungeon. Is this a sex torture dungeon???"

Cas and Sam are upstairs. Sam is worried about Cas seeing Lucifer. He saw Lucifer at first. Now he sees everything.
Meg is drinking around the corner listening. She looks sad.
Cas was lost until he took on Sam's pain.
Sam's going to help Cas get better. "what do you mean better"

Dean and Kevin are still in the basement. Dean is sleeping. Kevin is transcribing the tablet. He just started freaking out. "I didn't want to be a wordkeeper" Dean is trying to help him thru the freakout.

"what can I say. You've been chosen and it sucks"

Dean is talking about the angels and when they try to help it doesn't work. Kevin just wants to be the first asian president of the US.

OK so who we got pullin up in a truck. Some demon named Rosco. Meg is there. She's telling him she's got Cas...the angel who double crossed Crowley. He doesn't believe her. She's wondering how many other demons know where she is. None. She just killed them with her knife. Atta girl Meg!!!!!!

HAHA Meg just walked back in the room and she's stuck in a devils trap. Meg needed a cause and she's on their side. Her cause is bringing down Crowley. Dean "Crowley ain't the problem this year" She promises she won't screw the boys over. She doesn't want to lose Cas cause he's an angel and on her side. Awwww. Sam just let her out of the trap.

Crap Esther just showed up with the other angels. They've come for the kid. OMG Esther was just going to go after Dean. She's mad cause of everything that has happened since the angels came back to earth. Cas stopped her. She's beating Cas up. She was going to kill him with the angel sword. "You wanted free will? Now I'm making the choices" Whoa Meg just killed her with a sword. Cas looked at her like WTF.... "What? Someone had to"

The other angel who likes Cas and doesn't want him dead wants him to go with them.

The angels are taking Kevin home where they can watch over him.

Dean tried to find Meg but couldn't find her.

They are reading the transcription that Kevin did. they need blood of a fallen angel. Cas gave it to them. "Well you know me. Always happy to bleed for the Winchesters" Then he left.

Kevin's Mom is freaking out with the cops. The angels just appeared with Kevin. OMG the cop is Leviathan. OMG the cop is that dude that the boys dropped a car on earlier this season, Edgar. He just killed the angels. "Rock beats scissors. Leviathan beats angel" Oh Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I eagerly anticipate each Friday's new Supernatural episode, I am really stoked for the next three epsides knowing that the boys will be back for season 8.

I can watch without that irritating itch of possible cancellation. What a relief!!

I still hate the episode's title: "Reading is Fundamental." The former title, "Get Dick," was much quirkier and snarkier....much more in keeping with the boys continued joking about their new arch nemesis, Dick Roman. I can't figure out why it was changed. Oh well, what's important is the new episode!

I nearly died laughing when Cas made the remark about a cat's penis being barbed. "I'm sure the females were not consulted."

Overall, a pretty good episode. So nice to see the boys with Cas again.

Getting kind of sick of Meg, though.

Oh, and I'll be SO FUCKING HAPPY when the Impala finally returns.

It was a pretty good episode, although Dean and Sam seem to have become "side" characters in the show. Lately it seems as though the guest actors are more involved in the story than Dean and Sam. They're just along for the ride.

That sucks, but I'll keep watching.

I liked this episode, but you have to re watch a couple times to get a lot of the subtleties that BE put into the script. I really liked Sam in this one, his caring and wanting to help Cas get better was very sweet.
Misha was great in this one, although I don't want this version of Cas to stay for long.
I'm ready for Meg to go away now, tired of her managing to have existed this long.

With the "Dick" jokes they made in the episode, it just reinforces that they never should have changed the title from "Get Dick" to "Reading is Fundamental."

I enjoyed the episode because it had a lot of action and a lot of Castiel. I think this Castiel will appeal mostly to the fans who loved Castiel in The End when he was a hippie. But the difference is that we knew he was not going to remain that way. I think Misha played the role beautifully and convincingly. His present state of mind is obviously a relief for him from the drama that has surrounded him. When Sam offered to do anything they could to fix Cas, Cas obviously does not think he needs "fixing".

I agree with SoCal that the Winchesters were not exactly the heroes in this episode. I mean, they tried, but Meg did more to save the day than they were able to. Kevin also helped by translating the word, but I think he is collateral damage. Do you like the way they cut away from the scene without showing what the Levis did with Kevin?

Sam and Dean's primary function was to obtain the information needed to defeat the Leviathans and they did accomplish that. When the dust settles, that is the most important thing that took place in the episode.

Sam seemed more like young Sam with his willingness to forgive and acknowledge that he knows Castiel was trying to help. Honestly, when Castiel saw Dean and Sam, he (as usual) said hello to Dean first. During the pause, I wondered if he was going to acknowledge Sam. Seemed like a long pause to me. But he did say hello and Sam seemed genuinely happy to see him.

When Dean was talking with Kevin about being chosen sucks and that angels don't really understand how to care, I think he was finally working it out in his own mind. Finally trying to understand that although Castiel tried to help them, that Castiel will never understand humans or be like humans. Understanding that will pave the way for Dean to release some of his pain. I want Dean to let go of his pain, defeat the Leviathans and take a well-earned vacation until S8. Then come back as the snarky fun-loving Dean that I find so entertaining.

My favorite lines:

Castiel seems to have finally realized that getting too involved with humans is hazardous to an angel's health. Maybe that's why he told Dean he "no longer fights."

And when Dean was talking with Kevin, he seemed to have realized that just because the angels seem interested in you, that doesn't mean they care what happens to you. That's not their function, it seems.

I'm hoping that Dean and Sam will be more of the main focus of the next two episodes.

Also, when the translation was read fromt he scroll, did anyone else notice that along with blood needed from the three sources, there was also mention of "bone from a righteous mortal?" Wonder if Dean is in for some bone being snatched from his voluptous bod since in earlier episodes he was referred to as a righeous man. Of course, that was before Alistair turned him in Hell. Maybe he's not so righeous anymore.

Yes, I did hear that "bone from a righteous mortal" line and thought it sounded gruesome. If they don't have to debone a living person, maybe they can use one of Father Jim's bones. Meg killed him in S1. Or a "bone from a lesser saint" like they did before. They cremate most of their friends and hunters are not usually depicted by SPN as righteous anyway. The thought of them taking a bone from Dean is .

What about blood from three fallen? I understand angels falling, but are monsters considered to have fallen? I ask because the previews seem to indicate that. I guess it would be too easy to use "fallen" human beings because they could just take blood from each other.

I think the next episode will have a lot of guest stars too, but not Castiel, and Dean and Sam will be in most of the scenes.
