Tonight was Sera Gamble last episode as showrunner and possibly a writer for the show. Was her last episode something special to end on or fall from her former great episodes?
I haven't been posting in a long time, so I don't know how many people feel about the changes in the show behind the scenes lately, but I was wondering if anyone else felt like the season finale lack something. The episode felt off to me. I've seen mixed opinions elsewhere. But what are your thoughts on Sera Gamble's last episode?

I think the entire season was a big miss.
For me, everything derailed after HCW. The season was set up pretty nicely in MTNB and HCW, but Sera didn't go through w/it. She inexplicably dropped Sam's storyline, shelved the Leviathans, threw Dean in an inexplicable, unneccessary, repetitive depression, and proceeded to produce a bunch of pointless filler episodes.
For me, the show never got back on track again. Sam's hallucination story was never properly or adequately told. I never understood why Dean was depressed. Bobby was shot for no reason. Slash Fiction had no real impact except for the boys losing their car. Everything was pointless in the end. None of it meant anything.
IMO, the show had no "heart" this year. There was no emotion behind any of the storylines or the overarching theme. Every year, the finale has had something huge and personal at stake. Not this year. Will the Leviathan eat the world? Who cares! Honestly, who cares what happens to the Leviathan? I know I couldn't have cared less.
It's hard to explain but I feel no emotion behind the show this year. The boys don't seem very connected. The behave more like business partners than brothers. I miss the closeness the brothers once had. I miss the emotion driving all the storylines. I miss the show. I hope it returns next year, but I'm not holding my breath!

I got distracted so I missed some parts but I was left disappointed by most of it. Of course I'm glad the shows returning, but this finale didn't leave me on the edge of my seat. We know Dean is somehow going to get rescued from purgatory.. so that ending didn't shock me at all. But I must say I loved Bobby's departure, and that it was him asking the boys to let him go on, instead of him turning into a full vengeful evil spirit. I wasn't pleased with what he did to Sam or that woman, but I'm glad it wasn't dragged out to next season where he would've been completely out of control. Poor Kevin I didn't understand Crowleys part in it but I'll rewatch it with my full attention tomorrow. Oh and now I'm worried about Meg It was one of my least favorite finales.

It was a mess. Made no sense, and bored the shit out of me. The only parts that made me smile: Castiel talking about monkeys and bananas. The Impala returned!!!!! Other than that, watching the finale was like sitting in a dentist's chair...with a drill in my mouth.

I enjoyed the episode.
Dick killing the "low fat index" girl! Yikes
Ghost Bobby going all vengeful on Sam before pulling back. Wow
The boys putting Ghost Bobby to rest. Sniff-sniff
Crowley showing up. Woo-hoo!
The Impala -- Born to be Wild!
Killing Dick -- soooooo Dean.
Crowley "stealing" Kevin. What's up with that?
Sam all alone. Never a good thing.
Dean and Cas in Purgatory! Ruh-roh
It's gonna be a llloooooonnnnggggg summer.

So Cali I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed it. I loved that the Leviathans planned on killing all the skinny chicks. ;D I love crazy Cas. He is so entertaining. I love trying to figure the double means in everything he is saying. Crowley was excellent as always. To me it makes sense for Crowley to want to get rid of Dick. Once Cas was gone Crowley was the ruler of hell without any issues. In fact with heaven in the state it was in Crowley had no worries. All of the sudden Dick shows up and wants to rule all. He plans to destroy Crowley and the demons; after he is finished with the humans. Of course Crowley wanted him gone. As an added bonus he got Meg so now Crowley is completely unopposed. When Bobby was finally sent off to the light I was bummed. Poor Bobby and poor Sam and Dean. I felt so bad for Sam being alone in the world because Dean and Cas are gone. Plus Dean and Cas in purgatory will be interesting. I can't wait to see what happens in season 8.

I loved it for both the humor and the bad-assness the guys and Meg showed. Going toe-to-toe with monsters that can gank angels without flinching is impressive. The image of Dean standing alone in Purgatory surrounded by monsters with red eyes affected me on a level with S3's finale. I think Sera's last script does her proud.

I liked this episode a lot except for the incredibly boring Levi boardroom scene. They could have cut that and gave us some better scenes to look at, like the one in the promo (where did that go?). I liked Crowley being his normal smart ass self, Mark S. does an excellent job with that kind of character. I like all the interaction with J2 and Cas and am excited to see where next season takes us.
I know most of you are not fans of the boys being split up but I think it could help each of them to grow and develop. I think Sam needs to have the ability to stand up for himself, sometimes Dean doesn't let that happen.
I have been working my way thru a S7 re-watch now that is over to see how the whole season comes together and I have to say Dean was an ass in most of the episodes I have seen so far , (I'm at 7.11) So I want to see Sammy have a chance to grow and stand on his feet for a while. I think it would do Dean some good to, maybe he would realize that he is going to have to depend on others to help him get out of Purgatory, whether it's Cas or some one/thing else.
I hope they don't shortchange us and actually let the beginning of S8 start where it left off and let us see how that plays out. Jared and Jensen both seem more excited about the upcoming season and so am I. I can't wait! ;D
