7. Tragicomedy/Pentagon RAG & TAGWhile I suppose that could be a possible answer 'rag & tag' is not a common phrase, it's usually just 'rag tag'. There's another expression hiding in there. ETA: heel / heal / he'll & seas / seize / sees are correct ETA2: I already know the answer to AVP's riddle (for some reason I've been spending a lot of time in riddle forums... ) so I won't guess..

Each of the clues below describe a famous pair (example: Salt & Pepper). Can you name each pair?
1. Jingly sound makers & accompanying sounds heard on the Seven Dwarfs commute 2. Corny phrase used by photographers & thin crisp wafers 3. Small spherical play toy & a letter propagated to many people threatening bad luck unless forwarded 4. Mayberry's deputy sheriff & hollow round percussion instrument 5. A cheery, cheerful or joyous disposition & a unit of company stock 6. Long slender conifer leaf & message board continuous chain of postings 7. Kevin of "Six Degrees" trivia fame & chicken predecessors 8. Writing implement loaded with ink & bank employee that receives or pays out money 9. A paste made from ground goober peas & sweet spread prepared from Concord Grapes
______________________________________________________
Use the syllables in the sylalist to complete the clues below. Each clue gives how many syllables the answer of it has. Can you complete every question?
Sylalist: com con dent e el el er fort junc man ment na nov o or or phant pi ro rus sat sau scor the tion urn
Clues:
1. Sign of the zodiac (3) 2. A Planet (2) 3. A Mammal (3) 4. Decoration (3) 5. Mansion (2) 6. Long Fiction (2) 7. Rat, Squirrel, etc. (2) 8. Quilted Bedcover (3) 9. Book of Synonyms (3) 10. and, but, for, so, etc. (3)
______________________________________________________
And here's what's left to answer in the synonym puzzle:
Take the given words, and by moving a single letter from one word to the other, make a pair of synonyms, or near synonyms. For example, given: Boast - Hip, move the 's' from 'Boast' to 'Hip' creating two synonyms: Boat - Ship.
2. War - Zoned 3. Routing - Tip 4. Shot - Teaming 6. Our - Start 9. Cash - Broom

Looking good so far Personally, I'm not sure I would consider the answer to #4 a 'famous pairing'... maybe it's better known in Scotland or military circles. 'Come & Go' is correct.

This teaser is based on 'funny' alternative definitions a word could have if you broke the word up into its syllables and treated the syllables as words themselves. A list of words and a list of definitions is provided, it is your job to match them up. They are meant to be a bit light hearted and may not have perfect pronunciation so work the words in your head a bit. Having the definitions should provide help in this regard. Also note that sometimes the 'new word' syllables may not only be using one syllable in the word. An example would be: Word: Contemplate "Con template": A stencil that criminals are made from. Words:Avoidable ___________Baloney __________Bargain Bernadette __________Burglarize ________Carpet Control _____________Counterfeiters _____Enticing Eyedropper __________Heroes __________Innovation Misty _______________Palpitations _______Paradox Parasites ___________Primate ___________Rationalize Relief ______________Selfish ____________Solvent Subdued ____________Sudafed Definitions:- A preacher's panic when he stutters with his words
- Two physicians
- Like, a guy who, like, works on one of those, like, submarines, man
- What a crook sees with
- What a guy in a boat does
- A vehicle's under arm
- Untruth's that are.. errr.. sensible
- Politically correct term for a hole in a shoe
- Where some hemlines fall
- Cake component made of Tolkien treefolk
- Workers who put together kitchen cabinets
- The term given to the profits made by a pub
- Brought litigation against a government official
- What you see from the top of the Eiffel Tower
- A short, ugly inmate
- The act of removing your spouse from in front of the TV
- A rousing applause for the motel/hotel
- The act of torching a mortgage
- What trees do in the spring
- What the owner of a seafood store does
- A clumsy ophthalmologist
- How golfers create divots
- What a bullfighter tries to do
