Enter words into the following word chain such that each pair of words in the chain forms a compound word. No word can appear in the chain more than one time. Each "?" represents a missing word. Example: girl ? ? shape = girl friend ship shape = girlfriend friendship shipshape. WAIST ? TAIL ? ? SIDE ? ? FALL ? ? DOWN ? ? SPRING ? ? ? HOLE waist coat tail gate way side arm pit fall out put down cast off spring time line man hole Impressive. I think this one takes a lot of concentration.

A Swaffergy is a word that can be broken up into two parts: a different word and a letter of the English Alphabet.
The word defense is a common Swaffergy. It can be broken up into the letter D , and the word Fence . As a Swaffergy, it would be written like this:
D + A structure serving as an enclosure, a barrier, or a boundary, usually made of posts or stakes joined together by boards, wire, or rails.
Which will give you D-Fence , or defense.
Can you find the following Swaffergies? They all use a different letter of the alphabet, excluding the letters W, and H.
1. A + Male cow 2. B + A convict 3. C + Coastal bird 4. D + Common bed in a ship's cabin 5. E + Shelter of a wild animal 6. F + Where your eyes are 7. G + A lyric poem with complex stanza forms 8. I + Bargain 9. J + Past tense of "do" 10. K + Slang for insolent talk or behavior 11. L + Nervous or irritable 12. M + A supervisor 13. N + A movable structure that closes off an entrance 14. O + Prolonged bark 15. P + A crazy or eccentric person 16. Q + A company who makes both lighters and pens 17 R + A male descendant 18 S + To seek someone's love 19 T + Small, round vegetable 20 U + A machine that hoists and moves heavy objects 21. V + Any of the digits of a foot 22. X + What you normally sleep in on a camping trip 23. Y + Abbreviation for a word meaning "originating" 24. Z + Prefix meaning "not"

With other things going on, I sometimes forget to come on here if I don't get an email notice for a new post. Shouldn't be a problem once Supernatural starts back up, but that's still almost a month away

For 7 & 11, I don't think you're using the letter sound correctly (eg, G is 'gee' not 'ga'). The others looks good (though I have 'bull' instead of 'sass' for 10, but yours works too).
I was just looking at the answer for 23, and I'm just going to tell you what it is as the clue answer doesn't make sense to me. Y-Der = Wider. I'm guessing they're going for an abbreviation of derive / deriving, but I wouldn't say 'deriving' what I think of when I see 'der'.
Hint for 24: it's a gas.

A letter closer to the end of the alphabet would fit the 'mass' definition better.

#1308 is still unsolved.
Substitute one letter for the first letter in both words in the pairs to make two new words. Insert that new letter into the appropriate blank below the problem to spell a word.
