I may have done this one. You need two gallons of water but you are out in the middle of nowhere and only have a seven-gallon container and a three-gallon container. How do you measure two gallons? I think I have it figured out but I need to be sure, I need to ask one question though. Can the water be poured out or does it all need to be saved if possible? |

You can do whatever you want with the water. It doesn't matter but I went back to the original and it's actually seven gallons and thirteen, not three, but I'm sure the solution is the same. Here's a new one. I think I did this one. Spoonie is at work. He is by himself and has no devices such as a computer. He wears no watch but there is an analog clock on the wall. He has been at work for a while, processing paperwork and filing, when he notices he is hungry. He looks at the clock but it is nowhere near lunchtime. He can't remember if he ate breakfast, but there's no way he can wait to eat. But Aeryn is his boss and she could show up at any minute, so he can't leave until it is really time to do so. He goes back to work and later feels even more hungry. He looks at the clock again. Time has apparently passed--the minute hand and the hour hand have moved and this time they form a 180-degree angle as they would at 6:00--but it is nowhere near lunchtime. Spoonie decides the clock is broken. How does he know? |

I've got two.
What do these words have in common? Deft, First, Calmness, Canopy, Laughing, Stupid, Hijack and Crabcake.
AVP's photo is in one of three boxes on a table. Spoonie can only date her if he chooses the right box without opening any of them. Each box has a Post-It on the outside. The gold box says, "AVP's picture is in this box." The silver box says, "The picture is not in this box." And the lead box says, "The picture is not in the gold box." A fourth Post-It on the table says "Only one of the boxes has a note on it that is telling the truth". So which box has AVP's photo?

Fermat didn't show the proof but he claimed that A to the n plus B to the n equals C to the n.
Someone demonstrated that this was true. A equals 91, B equals 56 and C equals 121. Why can this not be true for any value of n?

Here's a variation of the above.

And I have this one, which I may have posted before.
A long hallway has 100 light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Each is turned on and off with a chain that hangs down. All the bulbs are off to begin with. One hundred people go through the hallway pulling chains.
