Also related to the Panthers: Both the characters in "The Blind Side" and "All American" are based on players who are or were Panthers. Chancellor Lee, the disabled son of Rae Carruth, got a special day Sunday, which coincided with the week his father got out of prison after nearly 20 years for his role in killing the young man's mother when she was pregnant with him, in turn causing his disabilities. But the son doesn't consider himself disabled and is very determined to push himself as hard as possible to be "normal". I thought The Charlotte Observer devoted way too much space to the father's release. More than even Florence. Yes, it was a nationally televised court case, but this much this many years later? There must have been something important for them to only cover Rae Carruth story. |

I didn't have a delay watching "God Friended Me?"
It could be that the game that was supposed to end at 7ET didn't end till 7:15ET so 60 minutes didn't come on till than and that is why the show didn't come on till 8:15ET |

I never heard of his story outside of why he went to prison for and he didn't do it either.

Panthers lost two in a row. The one Sunday was because the two-point conversion didn't work. That's how they lost their first "real" game.
Several times I saw the Philadelphia Flyers logo and I recognized it immediately. Barry on "The Goldbergs" nearly always wears a Flyers shirt.

Three in a row now.
UNC-Chapel Hill is known as a basketball school. They got in trouble when it was discovered a bunch of athletes took fake courses and that may have hurt the football program. No, wait, the football program had a shoe controversy and some football players got suspended. Now the coach has been fired because they had a lousy season and they want the old coach back.

Mack Brown.
A UNC fan was at my barber shop today. I got there just in time. I was hoping I would only have to wait for him to finish with one person. I got there and both the vehicles that had been parked there were gone. The UNC fan arrived just as I was getting there but I got inside before he did. He and the barber mostly talked about the high school football team which is in the playoffs. Tonight they play a team over a hundred miles away, which last week defeated a team from just south of here. Seems ironic to me. If things had gone the other way, the two teams would be close together.

Panthers lost another one.
49ers finished with a losing season and their first football coach ever is out. He still got Gatorade dumped on him.
Last night I was recording "60 Minutes" because of the coverage of President Bush. Only I didn't. It was too late to go back and fix things because I watched "America's Funniest Home Videos" when it was on, sort of. Because "Jeopardy" is on at the same time 6 nights a week (or supposed to be on Saturday), the second half always records. I didn't even consider that I should have recorded the first half on the same affiliate. But I didn't think I could record it all because I'd be running into a limit on how much I could record at once. I manually set the TiVo to record the first half-hour, on the OTHER affiliate. Meaning I got 25 minutes of football, even though "60 Minutes" was listed as starting at 7. Fox had the late game. When I watched the second half, all I got was the last few minutes of Bush coverage, his son W telling how his father brought respect to the office of President, among other things.
There's some rule about the home market not allowing a competing broadcast, so in the home market CBS has to show a late game that doesn't go to the whole country.

If I'm not watching anything and I go for too long without using my TiVo remote, it goes back to live TV. This happened at precisely the time I needed to see that the teams the Panthers needed to lose yesterday in order to get to the playoffs did not, and that means they pretty much have to win tonight (unlikely since they're playing the Saints IN New Orleans and that's one of the best teams.

I wouldn't have heard this except for the reasons listed on the Tanmi thread. The radio station that still plays songs I like (now that the other one is gone) was playing a song I didn't like. I must have tried both Christmas stations. I have the opportunity to hear Rush Limbaugh on another station so I switched to that one, and the station does a local show at the time I was listening. The man said the Panthers had a chance to win because their defense was really good. But they didn't get it done. And the front page of today's Charlotte Observer seems to suggest Cam will be replaced for the next game. The radio discussion also included Cam having trouble with his shoulder, and a prediction that the Panthers have less than a 1 percent chance of making the playoffs.
