Those songs bring back so many memories, SoCal. I had a chance to go to Woodstock in 1968. A guy who wrote a music column for the Mobile, AL newspaper whom I'd carried on an exchange of letters about music invited me to go with him. Unfortunately he didn't know that I was just a kid, and my parents wouldn't let me, until I told him. Sigh. Here is the very first 45 I ever bought. And I listened to it a bajillion times: I have no idea why it wasn't one of these two, as I can remember playing them on the jukeboxes (3 songs for a quarter) all the time. Ride, ride! ![]() Johnny Rivers was actually Johnny Ramistella, from Baton Rouge, the placed I called home for 2 decades. "A pretty face can hide an evil mind," Why does that make me think of Aeryn?  |

There's a great story Grace Slick told about Jim....one night at a Los Angeles hotel, Grace heard a bizarre howling outside. She asked her then-paramour (Paul Kantner) to see what was going on. When Paul returned, Grace asked what happened. Paul:"Oh, it's just Morrison. He said he's turning into a dog." Grace: "And?" Paul: "What do you say to a guy who's turning into a dog?" |
