I saw this, and nearly cried my eyes out. Little bastards need to be beaten severely...with a tire iron.

I saw that last night and couldn't watch past 2 minutes! It made me so mad. And one of the fathers is defending his son saying that he didn't mean it... It's idiot parents like that that cause these brats to think they can get away with anything. grr

Aeryn, I couldn't agree more. Corporal punishment is too good for these little morons. They should be suspended from school...not allowed to ride the bus for the next school year (let 'em walk)...have their phones taken away...and finally, spend their summer cleaning this lady's house, mowing her lawn, washing her dishes and doing her laundry. And if you're going to be a bus monitor, you should have the gumption to get up and tell them to shut their yaps. Otherwise, I don't see a purpose to her being there.

The problem is, so many kids these days are not disciplined at home. Their parents are too busy working, so they leave the "parenting" to teachers and the internet. Also, most of these kids have probably never had a spanking in their lives...the old adage, "Spare the rod, spoil the child" is, and always has been, true. The bus monitor was probably afraid that if she did anything, the parents would sue. And you know what? The school probably would've backed the parents. It's fucking sad. I am SO pissed off!!!

I would NEVER have spoken to an adult that way. NEVERThere is something seriously wrong with the way children are being raised today. I'm with you Aeryn.....I'm angry and incredibly sad.

I saw this on the news but did not see the part where a parent was defending his son. Those children started out calling her fat and got much worse before the end of the clip. It went on non-stop. When boys talk to a woman that way, I can imagine what type of men they will be. The parents need to be disciplined along with the children. When the parents suffer some consequences, it will make them angry enough to discipline their children. I recall in the past that parents were held accountable for their children's actions.
I agree that the lady should not have stayed on the bus if she could not handle those monsters.

She probably needed whatever pittance she was paid, unless it's a volunteer post, to supplement social security, but I still have to ask....what's the point of having a "bus monitor" if that person cannot control the kids? Seems to me she's just taking up space if there is nothing she is allowed to do in order to control the kids.
Maybe future bus monitors should be armed with a bat and taser. That would keep the little brats in line.

A student who was sitting behind her kept touching her in a taunting way. Since she could not fight back, it appeared her safety was at risk. Teens have attacked and pummeled teachers and aides inside classrooms. Based on what I saw, I think she was in an unsafe environment and that is why I said she needed to get off of that bus. I am very happy she is getting financial help. I hope she does not plan to monitor that group again.

$400,000? Wow. So glad that folks have rallied to her in such an inspirational way. Back in my day, we didn't have bus monitors, but as soon as the bus pulled into the school all of the names of the offenders would have been sent to the principal's office. And since our bus driver's husband was a shrimper who kept all of our families supplied with shrimp at wonderfully low 'neighbor' prices few would get any sympathy at all from their parents.

So the kids were suspended for a year. How is that a punishment?
I think they should've gotten community service.. perhaps working at a elderly home or a homeless shelter every day after school for the whole upcoming school year. And all electronic devices taken away.. that would be real torture for the brats.
