Latin is the root of all languages. It's 'bad' in Spanish too.
Yep, the guys on the train were Alliance troops, the 'feds.'
This was the first episode seen on TV. Can you imagine what it would be like not knowing all you know from the pilot going into this? You have no idea how any of them came to be where they are. Although the writing is still great and snarky.

And yeah, if this was the first episode I saw, I wouldn't have a clue as to what was going on. I'm glad I'm watching these in the intended order.

So, in a way, seeing as how Mal didn't like that they just stole medicine tells me that he's kind of a good guy/bad guy type... like a futuristic Robin Hood of sorts?
And what is that place 26 minutes in? Is that like the Alliance Headquarters?

The later scene is onboard an Alliance ship, and I think the scene at the end is also. Malcolm is kinda the perfect blend of the good guy and the bad boy. He's much in the vein of Han Solo in Star Wars. I'm always amazed at how fast the time goes when I'm watching an episode of Firefly. Always leaves me wanting more. |

Well, I can say it's always leaving me with wanting more as well. To me, that's a mark of a very good show and I'm surprised that this was cancled before it even finished the season.
I wonder what's with River though, two by two, hands of blue? Is she talking about the blue hand guys? And does it have to do with the flashback she had earlier in the episode?

One thing you might have noticed. Shepard Book knows the name of the bad guy they are dealing with and how he might react. We get some inklings throughout the show that tell us his background is much more 'interesting' than we might have guessed.

Oh? I probably should have figured that when they asked how Book knew a name like that. At first when the companion went down there, I thought she blew their cover. I'm not sure if that part was well written. I do like how they dealt with the bad guys, that was funny!
