I'm assuming every episode starts with the explanation of the Alliance? I almost thought I clicked the wrong episode, but I didn't. Looks like they're playing basketball, love that! Well... playing some version of it. I wonder what River meant by ghosts? Hmm..

Ghosties!
Someone once said "If River's not being crazy, the writers are slacking off."

River just said 'ghosts' when the rest of them were looking at the drifting spaceship. I smell Reavers!

Yeah, that's pretty much my hunch... And did River find her way to the other ship? Oh boy..

Ah yes, a very spooky gal that River, but you should usually listen to what she's saying.

She was following the voices... so, she can hear ghosts?
So, what I'm hearing about Reavers, they kinda sound like Zombies. Am I right?

Well, in the area of liking to eat people, a little.
River is able to pick up on things most people can't.

But they're smarter than that as I just saw, they had set a trap of sorts.
And what's going on with the guy? And did they just get caught by the alliance?

It's been a while since I've seen this episode, and I don't rightly remember the answer to either question right now, unfortunately.

I love Kaylee so much, and the fact that what she's really upset about when the Alliance boarded the ship was that the guy called Serenity 'a junker.'

That is funny! And I like how they're dealing with the feds... reminds me of a saying: If you want to successfully hide something, hide it in plain sight... okay that may be paraphrased, but you get what I mean.

The interrogations are hilarious.
It's a really, really skillful way of doing exposition, so that you learn more about the characters, too.

Yes, they are! I have a hunch that guy they rescued was a Reaver, right?

They will add an episode to Hulu on Monday, so keep your fingers crossed that it's #4. I still highly recommend you resist temptation and watch them in order. There's a whole larger story arc going on in addition to the individual episodes.

I don't know if your library is like mine, but I was able to order the whole 4-DVD collection through interlibrary loan when I first saw them. Of course, the down side to that is that you can blow through all 14 episodes real fast, all too sadly.

Unfortunately, my library I go to now is not as good as the library I used to go to and volunteer at. I'm gonna see if my mom will be willing to cooperate with me on using the library I've volunteered at for DVD rentals. And I know nothing about interlibrary loans.
I just remembered, I am recording the series marathon on the 4th... I'll be able to keep them for a while.

I am curious about the Reavers and I'll bet they come up again. Yes, they are! I have a hunch that guy they rescued was a Reaver, right? Okay, I got my answer... saw the Reaver... that episode was a little intense, but I loved it! When I watched the episode, I thought Mal explained the man was a regular crew member who was mentally tortured. The Reavers would make him watch what they did to the other members and leave him to suffer. The man lost his mind and started to mutilate himself in the manner of the Reavers. And that is why he acted that way. I did not get the impression five days would be long enough to actually become a Reaver.

I think in a way, it is possible. I just finished reading a book which had like a crossover between a zombie and a reaver... Once bitten, it can take as little as 3-5 days to become zombie-like because it's like a virus that destroys the part of your brain that controls your reasoning... and I'm thinking maybe he was a regular crew member but escaped to a hiding place, but not before the reavers took a bite out of him.
At least I think he was bitten? I can't remember... the book I just finished was the only place I saw even the slightest explanation of how someone could become zombie-like (that did not include a drug).
