I only just got to the part where that woman accused River of being a witch and that's just before a commercial break, how far along are you guys? When I watch on Netflix, there are no commercials. I should probably pause the video while I type remarks. That way I won't jump ahead. I want a cheeseburger. *wonders if MisterMoonlight is eating in front of me* Nope, it's gone by now. I love the scene at the dinner table. The cast said these were always their favorite scenes. Firefly is a great example of how people with widely divergent views can come together and be community, family even, and I think it's a great example for us at The Evicted, as we're here for the same reason. These folks are our family.

I agree. The different views make us an interesting family. The Evicted does have characteristics like the Serenity crew. It's shiny. I like that description.

I agree with that as well. We are a family, just like the Serenity crew.

When Firefly was cancelled by Fox it was averaging 4.48 million viewers, which is less than its best show, Fringe, pulls now (averaging about 3 million), and miles ahead of anything currently on The CW. In the next episode, 'Our Miss Reynolds' we meet a woman who claims to be Mal's wife. You know Inara's gonna love this.

What the hell was Fox thinking? Did you know there are still people in my neighborhood doing those gorram firecrakers!? I could not hear half the show and with the captions messed up... and then they stopped as I finished watching the show! I'm just gonna have to watch this episode again tomorrow but during the day.

I'm happy that this episode the sound was in sync with the words. I always watch everything with captioning. Sometimes comments are made by characters who are off screen. I would miss some of that if not for the captioning. And I do not need to rewind because I did not understand what was said.
Next episode will be good. I notice Mal is very jealous of Inara. Next time, it will be her turn to be jealous.

I use the captions because I have a hearing impairment... even during Smallville, my parents at least knew to keep quiet so I can hear without having the TV so loud it'd bother the neighbors. And while at college, I'd have to have a rule where everything would have to be quiet, even the washer/dryer/dishwasher, and I promised that if I had to turn them off, I'd turn them back on (during Smallville only). It's even more difficult when the captions are messed up or if the timing of the captions are even slightly off.
Of course, that rule only applied to shows I watched religiously, luckily, Smallville was the only show I watched religiously back then.

Having spent a bajillion years wearing headphones in radio, I've suffered a bit of hearing loss, too, so I always love to have captions if they are available.
