Beauty and the Beast | Premiere October 11, 2012 Genre: Drama
Premise:While investigating a murder, Detective Catherine Chandler, discovers a clue that leads her to Dr. Vincent Keller, a man who supposedly died in Afghanistan in 2002. She realizes that she has met him before, years earlier when he saved her from an assault that left her mother dead, and that he suffers from a condition that causes rage to turn him into a monster, which has forced him out of society. Catherine agrees to keep his identity secret in exchange for his help untangling the truth about her mother's murder. Their partnership turns out to be a dangerous one, as they battle a powerful attraction that threatens to destroy them both.

I am looking forward to this one. The TV show of 20 years ago was one of my favorites. This 2012 one will be different though. Catherine is a detective and can kick butt. The other Catherine was a demure socialite (rich) who helped The Beast and his underground friends. We looked forward to The Beast rescuing her every week.  |

I loved that one too.
But the fact that the CW doesn't seem to have the confidence in this ageless story, or their viewers, to make him a real beast makes me wonder.

I had no idea the plot would be so dramtically changed. I am disappointed in that, but I will still give it a chance. The original was titillating because of the beast & socialite attraction. The way Catherine is stomping men in the trailer does not lend itself to the demure heroine needing to be rescued plotline. The other beast could not go into regular society because he really did look different. I wonder why they changed it.

Nothing could beat Ron Perlman as the Beast. His voice is just wonderful.

I just don't know about this new version of BATB. She's obviously capable of taking care of herself: she's a cop and was able to take down 2-3 bad guys before they ganged up on her and tossed her onto the tracks. In the old show, Catherine was a lawyer and not a kick-ass fighter until she took some self-defense classes after her initial incident with the bad guy.
Okay, I will give it a chance but I don't see the same kind of sympathy for a cop and a mutant soldier (supposedly killed in Afghanistan). Sounds more like Spiderman.
Will just have to wait and see.

This show has a slight problem. There is another "Beauty and the Beast" series. Belle is the beauty and Rumpelstilskin/Mr. Gold is the Beast.

I bet the intro won't be as good as this and again I see no Beast in 2012 just someone who hulkout and gets mad at least he doesn't turn green  |
