they must be running out ideas because now they are taken the classics and changing them and no this not Hansel & Gretel story that I grow up with hopefully this doesn't suck.

This makes sense. They were almost killed by a witch as children so it changed the focus of their lives forever. I bet they lost any desire to eat gingerbread as well.
This could be the start of a lot of movie concepts. For instance, Little Miss Muffet doesn't sit on her tuffet anymore. That spider not only sat beside her but was radioactive and it bit her. Now she fights crime against Kurds in her own Whey.
