There are those among us who never seek fame or fortune, but give themselves to us and our higher ideals, quietly. They would never claim the badge, but we would call them heroes. A hero is someone who gives all they have, and perhaps even their lives for an ideal.
John 15:13 says this,"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
What can we do to honor him? It all pales in his sacrifice.
But I would offer this: do something for someone else today, and every week of your life. The gift you give will be far smaller than what you get. It can be something as simple as giving a coat to one who is cold:
Let us honor those heroes, especially those who gave all. And let us be worthy of them.
