Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) plays (and won an Emmy for playing) an obese fourth-grade teacher who met her equally rotund Chicago cop boyfriend at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting. She lives with her foul-mouthed sex-obsessed mother (who has an equally foul-mouthed boyfriend) and drug-abusing airhead beautician sister.

I was reading that Melissa is more like Mike than Molly.
Mike isn't as much of a jerk as Molly sometimes makes him seem to be.

And I read she and Mike are getting married maybe before or on the season finale of the show.

Yeah, they've been planning the wedding all season.

Finally, I saw an episode that was genuinely funny due to something other than sex jokes and fat jokes.
True, Vince was naked, but only because he was in the tub. But most of the humor was physical and that was a nice change. Poor Molly couldn't lift him without getting wet, and Vince couldn't move.

Last night's episode made me think of "Gilmore Girls". The fans of that show, and some of the characters, love these quality films that the average person doesn't get. If I remember correctly, Luke didn't like such films. Molly persuaded Mike to go to a film by Kurosawa. Mike, hearing the man was Japanese, wanted to know if the man did "Godzilla". Molly wanted top make him happy so she said yes. Mike said he knew what he was doing.
Mike hated that the film was in black and white and then it had subtitles. Molly made him leave because he wouldn't stop complaining.

I finally saw the episode which was delayed because of the real tornado that made the tornado on the show inappropriate. TiVo didn't get the memo and treated the delayed broadcast as a rerun within 30 days, which requires me to manually tell the show to be recorded unless I change my settings (as I did for "Rake").

Melissa has obviously lost weight. Molly was talking about how she could do it so Mike could too. And it was then that I noticed.

I saw an ad but didn't click on it. I should have. It said Melissa quit the show and as a result it was cancelled. I don't know whether that's true.

I haven't been commenting, but it has been pretty amazing the last few weeks. Molly helped a homeless girl who turned out to be one of her students from back when she was a teacher. The girl was kicked out because she was pregnant. She was not going to raise the baby. Molly brought the girl home, but her parents just subjected her to the same kind of hate as Will Lexington on "Nashville". When Molly found out the girl wanted to give up the baby for adoption, she excitedly volunteered to take the baby.
The process turned out to be complicated. No one in his right mind would allow a baby to go to the home Mike and Molly live in. They haven't been able to afford to go out on their own. The results were predictable. Her family pretended to be perfect and then everything bad came out and Mike and Molly had to try another adoption agency. This time they claimed to live alone. The plan worked.
And the final episode was as crazy as one might expect from any episode where someone gives birth. The entire crazy family ended up at the hospital. And does anyone want to guess why Molly keeps throwing up?

Mike is the contractor on the house Schmidt and Cece are moving into on "New Girl". He was kind of a macho jerk but ended up being not only sensitive but a vegan. Mike would have NEVER been a vegan.
