"PROMOTIONAL PHOTOS (Music is “Airplanes” by B.o.B feat Hayley Williams) Description: Oliver (Stephen Amell) is surprised when someone shoots and kills one of his targets. As his plan is to bring people to justice vs. outright killing them, Oliver doesn't appreciate the help and searches for the gunman. He soon learns that the man, Deadshot (guest star Michael Rowe), is taking out businessmen who are scheduled to bid at an auction on an energy company and Walter (Colin Salmon) is one of the bidders. Realizing he can't protect his family and stop Deadshot at the same time, Oliver enlists Detective Lance's (Paul Blackthorne) help, but his plan has dire consequences. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Tommy (Colin Donnell) get caught in an awkward situation with Oliver. Willa Holland, David Ramsey and Susanna Thompson also star."

I enjoyed this episode. Arrow continues to be exciting and the character profiles are maturing quickly rather than being dragged out. My plan was to ask some of the comic book readers about the Queens' corporate history, but it does not seem like there has been a convenient time. I liked Diggle's character from the beginning, and I am thrilled by the way this episode ended.

I just can't get over the guy in the hoodie using a bow and arrow. It's just a little goofy. So why did this guy's dad tell him he had to save "his" city? I haven't watched any othe episodes completely through. What did I miss about this? I did see a part last night with the bitchy little sister. Any way the hero can stick HER with one of his well placed arrow shots?

Any way the hero can stick HER with one of his well placed arrow shots? Did you watch "The Avengers" movie? I fell in love with Hawkeye and I knew nothing about him prior to the movie. He shoots arrows too. Arrow (Oliver Queen) did not know his family's fortune was made by harming others. His family, along with a list of other crooked corporate giants, had gotten rich by bribing officials to look the other way so going to the cops is useless. When their yacht was attacked, Oliver's father told him the truth and asked him to right their wrongs and clear the city of corruption. Yes, he asked his playboy son to do what the justice system could not do. And yes, Arrow has an excellent memory for all those names considering the condition he was in when he reached the island. I think Arrow is doing it because they assassinate his beloved father. In Arrow's defense, he does things with the arrows that cannot be done with a gun. And arrows are quiet. We were hoping the sister would make a quick about-face and become useful, but it looks like the ex-girlfriend will be the useful one. He can go ahead and stick an arrow in his sister.

I haven't seen "The Avengers" yet. When I can get it from Netflix, I will mostly because I enjoyed the first "Ironman" with Robert Downey, Jr. And I'm old enough to have come to mind the old 60's British television show "The Avengers." The imagae of the guy in the bowler hat and his female sidekick always flash first in my mind.....then I remember it's a new movie and not with the same characters. Thanks for the background on why he's doing what he's doing after getting rescued from "the island." He's sure in good shape for being shipwrecked for 5 years. I would have expected more Tom Hanks than Mr. Universe!

Me too. After he shaved and bathed, I admired his physique. Perhaps a flashback will show how he ate and exercised well enough to look that good. (Do you recall the dude on Lost who never lost weight even while they were supposed to be starving? The fans made so many funny comments about him.) Another Iron Man fan. Robert Downey, Jr. does Iron Man so well that I never want to see anyone else play him. Iron Man was funny and awesome in The Avengers. You will love him. If you do not watch Arrow, I'll just keep talking to myself after each episode.

I usually miss the first half hour of "Arrow," because I'm watching "The mIddle." I love that show! Very funny. So I only get the last half hour of "Arrow." Maybe when re-run season comes along I'll catch up on what I missed....or...I can rely upon your terrific story telling skills to keep me up to date! Did you ever see "Chaplin" with RDJ? He was great. Some of that was filmed where I live. I believe part of the train station scenes and the scenes where Chaplin is out near a dairy in the orange groves were shot less than a mile from my house.

I'll include notes on the 1st half of Arrow with my comments. That way I might pay attention to the story instead of the physique and magical arrows. They must be magical 'cause I swear to beans I saw him shoot a man without turning his head to look. I must watch Chaplin with RDJ. I was unaware. RDJ is adorable.

My thoughts on the use of arrows:
He was on an island...easy to make arrows for hunting food or fighting.
As we have seen, he is progressing in his fighting skills in the island flashbacks and has plenty of reason to become adept.
Eventually, we know he becomes adept at martial arts, knife throwing, darts, staff fighting (in which he utilizes his bow) and the bow and arrow.
Martial arts has a purpose and the knives, darts and bow and arrow are about range.
A throwing Knife or dart has an effective 20 -30 foot range...beyond that...one needs the arrows.
Arrows are AMAZINGLY intimidating...staring down the shaft of a sharp arrow would make any bad guy think twice...ESPECIALLY after seeing Oliver knows how to use it. Thus the number of badguys who have righted their wrongs rather than have an arrow through their chest.
...AND...
TRICK ARROWS!!!!
(You cannot really "trick" out bullets)
I have seen them use the "net" arrow which also pins something to the floor, and of course the rappelling line, exploding arrow...which he used when he was trapped in the warehouse with a bomb (used it to blow the door) where he had tracked the delivery of arrows from the other archer (Tommy's father).
The arrow part just all makes sense to me!

I love the arrows too and I remember cheering when Oliver tossed the tennis balls and shot arrows into them. I knew then we were in for a thrill ride. I watch the show for entertainment and that is exactly what they give me. As the show progressed, they continued to show us how he attained his skills. I think this show has the most interesting flashbacks of all the shows that I watch and it is the only show where I look forward to flashbacks.
