knots landing was a classic today tv there not much as classics are 80's much.

When I was a little girl, there were a million westerns on TV. This one was one of the longest running.

It wasn't until I was in my teens that I found certain story facts about "Bonanza" just odd.
Ben had 3 sons by 3 wives.
None of his sons ever married.
All of his sons lived at home with their father. (Pernell Roberts committed career suicide by leaving the show after a couple of seasons. His disappearance was never explained.)
Every time one of the Cartwrights would fall in love, that girl/woman would die.

I Googled Pernell Roberts and his reason for leaving the show is the same reason you found the story facts to be odd. He returned to doing stage performances, which was his preference.
