I am just finishing up Jasper Fforde's The Eyre Affair. I had actually read the second novel in this series first, Lost in a Good Book, but this is the first in the series.
It is set in 1985. Time travel is possible. There is also an invention called the Prose Machine that can insert you into original manuscripts as well as send the characters from them out into the modern day world. And there are terrorists who would hold characters like Jane Eyre hostage, or even change the story in the novels drastically if their demands aren't met.
The hero is a female special ops literary detective named Thursday Next. This is a series that all English majors would love. I give it 3 stars out of four. There are several other novels that follow, and I plan to read them as well.
It's not George R. R. Martin's series of Fire and Ice, but it's much better and wittier than average.

I am so excited. I just got the brand new biography of my hero Leonard Cohen, entitled Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man by Sylvie Simmons in from our library system. Can't wait to crack it open tonight.
I'm just finishing up a free paperback edition of The Last Days of Krypton by Kevin J. Anderson that I got from the library, which, of course, is about Superman's origin.
Tomorrow I'm off work and going to the Christmas Luncheon for library volunteers for the first time. I've had to work the previous two years. I can't wait. I love my library so much.

Hmm im very curious now and moon you must tell mehow that book turns out Almost all libraries have a volunteer program where you donate your time to help out. In my case I didn't even know I was a volunteer until our library director invited me to the luncheon. I just knew that I'd love to read Halloween and Christmas stories to the kids. And they said, "when can you start?" Well, Leonard Cohen is still alive and making music today, so I'm going to say the book has a happy ending.

The Cohen biography is great. I'm really enjoying it a lot, but then I'm a HUGE fan, too. As far as Nash goes, I liked the movie about him, A Beautiful Mind. I've never felt compelled to read a book about him, or any other mathematician, though. But for some reason I just love biographies about physicists. Go figure.

i watched the movie in my psychology class and had to buy it, even though I've seen it three times i always feel for him as he sinks deeper and deeper into his illusions

One thing i found astounding was, he remained loving alicia even through his sickness. It was such a moving scene near the end of the movie when he stood on stage and said she was all his reasons.beautiful simply beautiful I'm a sap i know lol

Alas, I finished the Leonard Cohen biography. Don't you hate that feeling when you've finished a book you love? I'm now on a book recommended by Entertainment Weekly called Pretty Little Secrets by Sarah Shepard, which is kind of a Young Adult chick-lit novel, and so far so good. I'm enjoying it. It's so popular that I had to wait about 6 weeks to get it from the library. That's how long the waiting list was.

That is long moon, for me when i finish a good book i just read it again so that's probably why I've read flowers in the attic well I'm sure its been over 13 times now I've been reading and rereading that ever since freshman year I am currently reading never let me go and there is also a movie of this novel. Its a very strange and different idea but spellbinding all the same i do recommend it
