Inserting a linchpin in the end of an axletree sounds both painful and a little naughty.

I heard that if you remove a linchpin from a car's engine, the whole car would fall apart!

The Dictionary Word of the Day is
gaumless [GAWM-lis] adjective, lacking in vitality or intelligence; stupid, dull, or clumsy
I certainly did not tell that buffoon he is gaumless, mainly because he would have no idea what I meant.
“Did I ever look so stupid, so ‘gaumless’ as Joseph calls it?” “Worse”, I replied, “because more sullen with it.” –Emily Bronte, Wuthering Heights

"Wipe that gaumless look off your face and fetch me my tea," Caption Smith of the Titanic said to the purser who had disturbed his sleep. "Nothing can be that bad."

I must share this word. The Dictionary Word of the Day is whangdoodle [HWANG-dood-l, WANG- ] noun, a fanciful creature of undefined nature. A whangdoodle would eat ten Oompa-Loompas for breakfast and come galloping back for a second helping. – Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryWhile watching the dancers at the techno disco, I can only describe some of them as a whangdoodle.

The Dictionary Word of the Day is
wuther [WUHTH-er] verb (of wind) to blow fiercely

Now I know what the “wuthering” in the book Wuthering Heights meant.

They are quite good. Even one of the physicists I work with who is not a sugar-free guy loves them. I had to leave him a note that "if he's going to eat them, he should at least replace them occasionally." Which, to his credit, he did. I also like the sugar-free five flavor Life Savers. I find all these in the candy section of my grocery store or at my local Rite-Aid.

I would probably have rolled my eyes at him but not say anything. Your method is more effective.
