I have posted this topic elsewhere but feel it deserves a spot here as well
feel free to join me in a synchro watch of all the seasons of Gilmore Girls. I will be beginning with the pilot of course. The first watch will be the 18th at 8 where we can meet here at nine for a discussion of the episode.

Gilmore Girls the Pilot
This episode begins with Lorelai heading across the street to Luke's, with the appropriate song there she goes by the la 's playing in the background. We meet Luke and instantly know of Lorelais addiction to coffee and Luke's refusal to provide it (hes only joking of course). Shortly thereafter we meet Rory but not before Lorelai has her run in with the diner creep who later absolutely can not resist hitting on Rory at the very same table he'd already been rejected at by Lorelai. Lorelai then proceeds to mock him away ( if that's a real term . Throughout this episode we are introduced to all the major characters. We see Michelle on the phone at the inn that Lorelai and Sookie work at. Michelle is notably rude as always but in an entertaining way we see the teasing interactions between Lorelai and Michelle. Thereafter we meet lane rorys lifelong friend quickly we see Lanes life of restrictive parents.Nextly we are introduced to Sookie Lorelais friend also chef at the inn.We see Sookie on the floor in a mess od dishes informing us off Sookies clumsiness which colors many the Gilmore Girl episodes.In the pilot we watch as the Gilmore Girls excitement over Rory's acceptance to an impressive but expensive prep school Chilton quickly turns into frustration over the enrollment fee.The lack of the enrollment fee thus pushes Lorelai and Rory into an uncomfortable agreement with the dreaded grandparents (whom Lorelai accepts nothing from as proof of her independence). Next we see Lorelai. preparing herself to speak with her mother by sitting outside the house drinking coffee ultimately trying to get up the nerve to approach the seldom seen relatives. From the conversation had between mother (Emily) and daughter (Lorelai) how extremely rare it is they see or speak to eachother. Richard is introduced as well he rightly guesses that. Lorelai needs money lorelai admits she does but that its not for her its for Rory's education,the gradparents agree on one condition the Gilmore Girls shall return every Friday night for a weekly dinner. Lorelai agrees and the unhappiness at the deal marks Lorelais face. We see Rory at stars hollow high, finally we meet Dean and see his quick eager interactions with Rory. You can clearly see the delight on Rorys face when he expresses knowledge of her movie reference. We see deans eagerness to get to know Rory elluding of his crush on her.Rory seems shy but quietly interested as well. Rory gives dean advice on where to find info on a job and Rory walks him to miss patty's the town dance instructor amongst many other things. They get to know each other as they walk. Rory becomes more interested thus later causing the first fight between the Gilmore Girls.At dinner that night at Luke's of course Rory confesses maybe shed rather stay at stars hollow high, Lorelai is in disbeleif they leave the sobering a huff.as they make their way home they pass miss parties and she calls out to Rory informing her she found a job for herfriend. Her male friend lorrlai has heard enough she is aware know of the real reason Rory does nptwant to go to Chilton. Rory awareas well that her mother knows knowthat she is risking her education for a guy. Lorelai all too familiar with that sstory races after Rory to their house. Where the arguement ensues.Rory wants yo stay Lorelai wants her to go Rory refuses she is stubborn but Lorelai os adamant she States Rory will go no matter what.the girls go to bed angry at eachother.the next day at the inn there's more chaos ti follow sookie has caughtsomethinh on fire. Roryarrives for her work at the inn still with an attitude over the fight. Lorelai sends her home. The next night at dinner tory os still upset lorelai asks her to act civil during dinner.the four sit down for drinks before dinner.things are awkward nut eventually conversation gets going. At dinner Emily makesher first stab at lorelai lorelai leaves the room. Roryw wants to follow but. Emily does instead in the kitchen lorelai and Emily argue an arguememt that has spanned years they argue ovee lorelais life decisions stirring up old issues and finally its revealedthat the grandparents are paging for the schooling in exchange for dinner. Rory is sorry for the way she acted and offers to buy lorelai a cup of coffee at the now infamous Luke's diner where they sit and finally agree Rory will ho.
