SoCal, thanks for the description, and for letting me use it.Okay! The new episode is only moments away and we have the official description for episode 8.13 - the one that there's been so much buzz about! Here it is....it's an Edlund and the first this season directed by Phil Sgriccia! WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6 SUPERNATURAL — (9:00–10:00 p.m. ET) “Everybody Hates Hitler” (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV) SAM AND DEAN FACE OFF AGAINST A GOLEM — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) investigate the death of Rabbi Bass (guest star Hal Linden, “Barney Miller”), who spontaneously combusted. The case becomes ever more confusing when they learn that the Rabbi was researching Nazi Necromancers. Sam and Dean are attacked by a Golem (guest star John DeSantis) who turns out to belong to the Rabbi’s grandson, Aaron (Adam Rose). The key to the case lies with the Golem but Aaron doesn’t know how to control him, which leaves everyone in danger. Phil Sgriccia directed the episode written by Bed Edlund. Photos

Another good one. Good to see the boys hunting and killing bad things.

I loved it! Advances the overall season arc, but also good as a stand-alone MOTW. Good balance. Once again, Edlund shows why he is a master story-teller! Sam and Dean both in-character and working as a unit. LOL and squick moments. Excellent!

I really enjoyed this episode. The golem was interesting because he was neither good nor bad, but he did seem to have a moral compass. The undead looked pretty good and could pass for being just weird. They might run into more of them. The new digs are magnificent and appropriate for Sam to practice his "Men of Letters" duties. Dean looked proud and was happy for Sam. I had to smile at Dean's happiness at having a perfect shower (even though it was not a steam shower).

I went five stars on this episode and here's why. When Sera was show runner she broke everything in Sam and Dean's world. Bobby, Grandpa Campbell, Rufus etc. Sam and Dean lost their identities and couldn't even drive the Impala. Bobby house burnt to the ground so they didn't in have a stable place anymore. This episode and this season is bringing back their structure. Garth and Kevin help with research like Bobby did, the underground men of letters bat cave replaces Bobby's house and they are driving the Impala once again. Also I love that grandfather Winchester was a Man of letters this explains Sam's desire to learn and his intelligence. I enjoyed the scene where Sam recognized the numbers Aaron has as library call letters and even knew the section of the library they belonged to. It's nice to see smart Sam back and recommitted to the hunt, but in a role the suits him instead of being a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. Dean is a hunter and Sam is a man of letter this makes perfect sense. Seeing the previews last week I was very concerned this episode would be cheesy. But it wasn't, the Golem and this tribute to Judaism was interesting and entertaining. I loved that Aaron rolled joints with the Golem instructions manual his grandfather left him. Also him pretending to be gay and hitting on Dean was extra special. Even the Golem started off as just a hammer but became and interesting character with depth. This season started off very rocky for me but now it's moving in an interesting direction. I can now see a future season of Sam and Dean with this new internal network of friends and hunters/assistants. Since the water and power is on in the Men of Letter's bat cave there still is a man of letters paying the bills. Since Sam and Dean are using electricity and water this person will see the increased cost and know they are there. If it were me I would have hidden cameras area the place (and not just in the showers you pervs ) so I can see who is there. I would also have a silent alarm system that triggers when the door is opened. My guess is this man of letters is watching Sam and Dean to see if they are worthy.

Evil1 Good summary and it would be great if an elder is watching them and will come to mentor them.

Anti, am I being too naive to hope that it could be Frank? It would be so cool to see him come back as a Man of Letters who faked his death by Leviathins to continue to help the boys.

I liked this one a lot and gave it a 4, there was a lot of good stuff in this one, from Dean in his "bathrobe" to the Men of Letters cave and to Aaron and his Golem.
Evil 1, I too thought this one might be kind of silly and cheesy, but I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there was a real story behind the Golem and the red ledger. I like that Dean and Sam have a real place to stay now, one that the angels and demons don't know about.
I liked the fact that Aaron did what he felt needed to be done and took on the challenges of the golem and the JI, not many people they meet stand up for themselves. I have noticed a pattern of people standing up for themselves this season starting with Kevin, Benny (to an extent) Cas, Henry and now Aaron. I am wondering what the real theme of this season is?
I like Aaron and the Golem, who even though he was as big as a house made us care about him. I liked seeing Sam get to do more in this one, in some of the previous episodes he was kind of like wall paper, but he was actively in this one. How strong is he that when he was shot with the dart he tried to defend himself and still make it back to Dean. He seems intent on keeping track of everything they are going thru.
I like Dean in this, he looked so bad ass when he was going to shoot the commandant. I liked that we heard a mention of Cas and Kevin in this.
I still have the feeling that I am missing something with these episodes, maybe once this season is over and I can go back and look at it all at once I will see it.

That would be awesome. He has been watching the boys and guiding them without them realizing it. I like it a lot. I miss Frank.

Same here. He was a great (is a great!) character, well written, well acted and in too few episodes....with no real resolution to his storyline. I liked that he kept Dean grounded.

It would be great if Frank contacted them and said something like "About time you boys figured out who you really are!" I would jump with joy. Let's not give up hope. I remember Crowley's return was a well-kept secret until he showed up in the episode. The same thing could happen with Frank.
