I really HATE Merle. I taped the episode. Will watch when I get home from work. But I still HATE Merle.

Sleep well, Anti. I don't know if I'll make it through the whole episode tonight myself.

Just finished watching the episode. Wow......where do I start? Rick is nuts. He's seeing Lori and goes outside the prison gates to get to her. No one, not even Herschel can coax him back in. Glenn is raging. Both over what happened to him in Woodbury, but what happened to Maggie. She finally tells him what happened but it doesn't help them come together. Carol and Axel are putting up defenses outside. Everyone is convinced the governor is coming. Herschel wants to leave but Glenn says they should hold up in the prison. The governor tells Andrea he "isn't worthy to lead the people in the town," but Andrea is. He goes to Milton and tells him to keep an eye on Andrea and then.......whoosh....he's gone...who knows where. Merle and Darryl are arguing. Good. Darryl is thinking his brother is a jerk and responsible for all his own troubles and Merle spends all his time generally pissing Darryl (and me!) off. They hear screaming and Darryl runs to find a Mexican family in trouble. He helps them out but Merle just wants to steal their food as a "thank you" for saving them. Darryl puts his "gun" up to Merle and tells the family to vamoose. Yeah! Darryl! Darryl tellsMerle he's going back where he belongs.....to the people in the prison. After spouting off a bit, Merle (the big scardy cat has nowhere else to go) reluctantly tollows. Carol and Axel are talking in the yard. Suddenly Axel is shot in the head. (Buh-bye short-termer) All hell breaks loose. The governor and some of his gang have shown up and start shooting up the place. BIG gun battle, but, amazingly, no one gets shot. Then a van pulls up and rams through both sets of gates to the prison. A ramp opens and a bunch of walkers get out and start tracking people down. I think the gun battle also drew in some from the outside so there's blood/heads/grossness galore. Rick gets trapped between a coupld of walkers and just when it looks like he's gonna get it.....an arrow blows through the front of the walker's skull. Yeah! Darryl is back. Even Merle helps out. The governor smiles (very creepy smile), shoots off a few more shots and drives off. Rick, Herschel, Darryl and Merle are trapped outside the gates, a bunch of walkers are in the middle and the rest of the group is trapped inside. The episode ends with Rick looking very angry. Maybe this will snap him out of his pathetic hallucinations. Excellent episode. Looking forward to next week! What did the rest of you think? Have I missed anything?

You didn’t miss anything and you wrote a great summary. I think this was an excellent and exciting episode also. It seems the Governor is ten times more dangerous now because based on how he did not take cover when the bullets were flying, he does not care whether he lives or dies. His buddy Milton does not lie convincingly. It seems Maggie was upset with Glenn because he made her ordeal all about himself and how upset he was. What about how Maggie felt? But he was rubbing her shoulders after the fight and it seems they will be alright. Daryl is wonderful and is nothing like his brother. When Merle ripped Daryl's shirt, I can see the welts their father put on Daryl's back. Daryl has had it rough and now he has people who care about him - where he belongs. Why, why, why did they kill Axel? I really liked Axel and he had a nice sense of humor. I was looking forward to Daryl and Axel vying for Carol's affection. I hope Rick snaps out of it before Merle does something to cause a riot in the group.

Yeah, I was sorry to see Axel go. But he did get a little creepy with Herschel's younger daughter. Guess then he decided that since Carol WASN'T a lesbian, he could latch on to her.
I think that means all of the people in the prison who were left locked up are dead now. I'm beginning to think that coming into contact with Rick's group may entail a little danger to one's well being.
Wonder how Rick's group are going to handle the new group that came into the prison?

The new group seems to be gone. They did not come running when the fight started. The noise probably attracted other walkers outside of the gates so Tyreese and his folks might not have been able to get close enough to help out.
I can't tell how much time passed between Daryl's rescue, Tyreese leaving, and the attack by Woodbury.
Edit: I rewatched season 1 episodes 1-3. The title "Home" gave me hope that the black dude and his son who helped Rick were finally going to catch up with Rick or at least make contact. No such luck.
