At the end of the last episode, we see that Daryl and Merle have gotten to the prison. Merle even "killed" zombies that were menacing the group. Is he going to be redeemed? What is the governor going to do? What's up with Andrea?

Just about to start watching this episode. Life is so wonderful when there are new episodes of The Walking Dead.

I recorded last night's episode and started watching it this morning while I was getting ready for work. Bad idea! I only got to the part where Andrea was getting ready to leave the prison and head back to Woodbury. Why does she seem to think she can bring these two groups together. Will comment after I finish watching later today. What's the deal with Merle? They gave him a gun? Why did Andrea go back? And why would Carol be the one to ask her to kill the governor after giving him "great sex?" So now we know where the new group went after Rick shooed them out of the prison. That may have been a big mistake if they give Milton a diagram of the prison. And what is Milton's deal? Who will he finally decide to follow? Andrea or the governor? Rick seems slightly less crazy. His idea to go weapons/ammo hunting with Michonne and Carl seem sound. He also seems to know that Merle can't be completely trusted. Next week's episode looks good. But I say that every week. Oh, and Andrea has got to go.

I am a little over halfway through the episode. I've had to watch in spurts because of RL. A little last night, some today, and finishing up tonight. But what struck me just now, as I'm watching the scene with Andrea at the prison, is this: Herschel is the new Dale. He's the voice of reason. And damned good thing, because Rick's still loony tunes. And didn't you just love Andrea referring to the baby by the name Darryl gave her: 'L'll Asskicker?'

At first Merle was locked in a cell, then I saw him attaching a blade to his prosthesis. When I saw that, it made me apprehensive because I am never going to trust him. He did help save Rick, but he seemed amused by Rick’s predicament at the time. Merle is full of bravado, but he does keep a physical distance from those who want to kill him. I do not think Michonne was receptive to Merle’s conciliatory. I wonder if a time will come when Daryl will need to knock Merle out. I can only hope. Is Andrea really that clueless about Phillip? I was waiting for someone to ask her why she gets to call the Governor Phillip. I thought she saw the heads from the aquarium which included non-walkers. Michonne told her Governor sent Merle to kill her. What more does she need? I thought the Governor was going to reach up and grab her when she stood over him with the knife. But the real puzzler is why did the Governor let her return after he said if she went to the prison, she had to stay there. Is Governor in love with Andrea? Were Andrea and Michonne lovers? Tyreese has reason to think Rick was rejecting and threatening his group. That’s an unfortunate situation, but telling the Governor that probably saved their lives. I think they are going to give the layout to the Governor and then Rick and crew will need to abandon the prison. Just guessing ‘cause I know nothing. Milton is a survivor and he will choose whoever he thinks is the strongest. Rick seemed less out of control after Carl spoke to him and Hershel was blunt about their situation. Thankfully Rick has stopped trying to send off people who can fight. Someone said Michonne is not accurate with a gun, but I did not notice that. I’ll have to look at that scene again. I did think about Dale when Hershel was talking to Glenn and then to Rick. I applaud Carl for including Hershel along with Daryl as possible co-leaders. Others seem to be ignoring Hershel’s leadership qualities because he can’t run. Lil Ass-Kicker is the most interesting nickname for a baby girl that I have ever heard, and I love it.

Herschel is a realist. Dale was a whiny pain in the ass.
I would hate to see Herschel die. I was glad to see Dale kick the bucket.

Dale served to remind the others of their own humanity, and some folks didn't like that. There were periods when I hated Dale, too.
But I think the real lesson of The Walking Dead is that if the living lose what makes them human, they too become The Walking Dead.

The only thing Dale reminded me of was that, while some people, in the midst of crisis can become courageous and some can become dangerous, others just become whiny and annoying.
