I have not read the comics, but I am not buying this peace treaty idea. Both Merle and Michonne have said the Governor is a stone cold crazy killer and cannot be trusted.
They should send Trashcan Man to Woodbury.

The title tells me we should look for some Daryl in this episode, and that's always good news.

I've watched the episode once and my initial thoughts follow.
I guess Andrea is the negotiator because she is a lawyer. But she cannot use civilized negotiation with two men who hate, distrust, and want each other dead. I was sure Governor was either going to sneak a gunshot at Rick or spike his drink. I am not even going to try to figure Andrea out, but Michonne does not want her to get hurt.
I’m not sure why Rick took Hershel, but it’s nice to see Hershel away from the prison and back in action. Glenn took charge and I noticed he showed some of Rick’s mannerisms when he was talking to Merle. I don’t know if that was intentional or if it’s just because Rick is his model for a leader. Merle was hitting below the belt when he was goading Glenn and Glenn stood up to him. Kudos for Glenn. Then Merle got jumped by a couple of women.
It seemed realistic to me that Daryl and the other guy had to earn each other’s respect and then started talking and sharing smokes. That was rather cool and something I have always admired about men.

That was rather cool and something I have always admired about men. I think the governor only used Andrea to bring Rick to the meet site. I think he may have taken him out if he could have. The look on his face when Rick finally took a drink made me think he had poisoned it! Glad that wasn't the case. I guess Herschel was along because they couldn't leave a one-legged man to hold back Merle. Glenn has become very kick ass since he met Maggie. Glad to see him step up and not let Merle boss him around. BTW, Merle looked very cleaned up in this episode, didn't he? Yup, Daryl and that other guy testing each other's machismo was very true to life. Milton and Herschel seemed to be able to talk. Liked how Herschel wouldn't tell Milton everything he wanted to know...."at least buy me a drink." Classic Herschel. Andrea is either planning something or she's the most clueless, worthless person there. I'm hoping she's planning something against the governor. She knows he's a psycho. Michonne's done 3 bad things: she poked the governor's eye out; she "killed" his daughter and she broke his wall of heads. No wonder he wants her back. Glad to see that when Rick got back to the prison he told the group the governor wanted them all dead and that they were going to war. I would have hated to see him give up Michonne. She's shown her loyalty and worth to the group and would not have deserved being betrayed. Even Carl likes her. Milton may have misplayed his hand with the governor by telling him that just shooting everyone from the prison would be a slaughter. The gov didn't like that. I wonder if Milton will change his loyalties. He's creepy but I don't think he fully understands how psychotic the governor is. Once again...next week looks intense.

I'm about 20 minutes into the episode right now. I love how both groups 'underlings' are spending time together getting to know one another while Rick and the Governor spend time in negotiations that we know are in vain.

Yup, Daryl and that other guy testing each other's machismo was very true to life. When Hershel asked why Rick was telling him about the Governor's proposal, Rick responded that he wanted Hershel to talk him out of it; that means Rick is seriously considering the proposal. It's like Rick knows the Governor would still kill him, but that it might be their only shot. Hershel should take that crutch and whack Rick upside his head. I know some people admire Andrea, but she irritates me with her lack of decisiveness. In spite of that, I think Andrea will turn on the Governor before letting him kill Rick, et al. I think Milton will help Andrea but I do not know if he is tough enough to fight for his own survival.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Andrea and the governor will kill each other in the big knock-down, drag-out!!

I've finally finished watching the episode and will have more comments later today when I get home from work, but I really liked Milton and Herschel's scene a lot. Milton has now seen that 'the enemies' are just regular people like those in Woodbury. That's bound to influence him somewhere down the line.

There is something I have not said and it deserves to be said. This season, Rick really does seem like the star of the show. In the past, he seemed to be upstaged by some of the characters. I have learned to appreciate him.

I had a very anti-Rick reaction when he announced that the group was no longer a democracy and established the Ricktatorship, but I was wrong, and that turned out to be a more interesting story by far. Plus, it made you ask important questions about that same choice in leadership taken by The Governor. How are they different when they're both doing kinda the same thing? That's getting down to the nitty gritty.
Rick was at his best and most noble in the first season, when he had a wife and a son to protect, and the interesting combination of a best friend/competitor in Shane. Right and wrong were strongly defined. But then, things began to unravel. Watching Rick's evolution has been fascinating, as has the evolution of the entire group. We saw how much things had changed last week when they passed by the human hitchhiker and did not even considering stopping to help him.
Rick has some good advisors, if he will listen to them. His own son is one, and of course, Herschel. They are the voices of reason. Glen is becoming one too, but his role now seems to be that of a warrior, making him more like Daryl, and hey, who doesn't need as many Daryls as they can get?

I have learned to appreciate him. His character was being held back by two people now mercifully gone: Lori and Shane.
