Why am I thinking they're just gonna turn tail and run from the prison?
A wonderful interview with Norman Reedus (who plays Daryl) in last week's Entertainment Weekly. Some highlights:
His trailer on the set gets filled up about two times weekly with fan mail.
In the finale, "there's a resolution to the Rick-Governor conflict, and it will set things up nicely for the 4th season," according to creator Robert Kirkman.
When Andrea grazed Daryl with a bullet in the second season, the actress who portrays her began to receive death threats, so they hurriedly released a photo with the two actors together, and reminded folks that she's just an actress playing a part.

Don't mess with Daryl! Thank you for this very interesting insider information. I know we like Daryl but I did not realize the extent of his popularity. It sounds as if the producers would receive death threats if they killed off Daryl. Question: Was Merle killed in the comics? Since Tyreese is supposed to become a friend of Rick in the comics, his attacking the prison with the Governor does not bode well for that possible friendship. Woodbury giving up on the prison might change things, but the promos did not look like they were running. What could Rick do that would make a superior force turn tail and run? I am very curious.

I'm sorry, I was unclear. What I meant was Rick and the gang running from the prison before the Governor attacks it.

Oh... I misinterpreted that. I guess I was too focused on the Governor. I think the prison group is going to leave, but I have no idea where they will end up.

Maybe they'll go to that town where the guy that saved Rick in the first episode still has a lot of munitons and several booby traps set up. What was his name? Morgan?
Or, maybe while the governor and all the people from Woodbury capable of using a weapon are at the prison, Rick and his group manage to take over Woodbury.
Or, maybe the Woodbury attack squad is lured deeper and deeper into the prison where they are trapped with a herd of zombies they helped bring there in days past.

SoCal, I think option #1 is their best bet. Option #2 would be hilarious, and option #3 would make my day! I am going to find out in 10 minutes!
Getting ready to watch now. I hope it is as exciting as I anticipate.

As far as an 'Eye For An Eye' goes.... It kinda looks like Carl has become a 'Governor' of sorts...

So much for turning tail and running. It sure looked like that's what they were going to do as the episode began....packing up all their stuff and heading for the cars. What a total fake-out.
Okay....we all knew the governor was nuts. But he seemed to be keeping a lid on it until tonight's episode. Killing Milt and turning him onto Andrea?!?!?! Awful.
As for the attack on the prison.....it was awesome. Loved seeing Rick's group take out the Woodbury group, although I do feel some sympaty for those of the Woodbury group who swallowed the governor's lies hook/line and sinker. And when he mowed them down in the road......again.....wow. Who are the two guys who then didn't kill him? One was the guy who had the talk with Daryl. The other guy I didn't recognize.
Carl may be turning into a little killer. Although I thought the kid with the rifle was taking an awfully long time to drop the gun, Carl was still a bit of a gunslinger. Herschel looked horrified and Rick just can't believe his "little boy" may be becoming something no one is going to like.
The ending was sad, although I was tired of Andrea. At least she did the right thing and it was sweet of Michonne to keep company with her as she did it.
All those Woodbury people coming to the prison? Wonder how that's going to work out? Carl didn't look happy. Like his little kingdom was going to change and he wasn't going to like it.
I guess when the governor and the two guys left with him in the truck return to Woodbury, they're going to find it a lot less populated. I wonder who, if any, stayed?
It's gonna be a long 7 months wondering about all of this until season 4 premieres in ..... OCTOBER.

The episode set up an excellent fake-out. After giving it more thought, I think they needed to pack their things in order to fool the Governor into thinking they might have moved on. I was shocked and confused when Rick's group attacked the Governor's people; I thought maybe walkers had been stashed behind the doors. Shooting the towers, rolling over the booby-trapped wire and killing all those walkers was an exciting approach to the prison. The Governor has no redeeming characteristics left – none! Leaving Milt in the room with Andrea is worse than turning Merle into a walker. Keep in mind that Milton and Philip knew each other before the apocalypse. Andrea was close to the door and trying to get away and Governor had locked her in. That was heartless. Andrea set my teeth on edge when she kept talking instead of trying to free herself. Yes, I did want to hear her give the reason she tried to intercede and say the reason she did not stab the Governor was that she did not want anyone to die. BUT, could she have explained that while she tried to free herself? Poor Milt was dying and had enough clarity to tell Andrea she needed to move quicker. I thought Carl had turned into a cold-blooded killer when he shot that kid. Then… his explanation of why he did it made good sense. Kudos to TWD for a well-played scene. Momentarily, I had a vision of Carl trying to shoot every stranger who had stepped off of the bus. The Woodbury people who were left are either seniors or young children so they should not present too much of a problem. The elderly should either be chained to their bunks or housed in separate cells in case they pass away during the night. We would not want them to become walkers and snack on each other. Michonne’s crying over Andrea was sad and it is good that she stayed by Andrea’s side. I’m sure the guys on the other side of the door were thinking about their losses as they silently waited. This was an excellent season finale although I did expect them to leave the prison.

I watched the finale again and have some additional comments.
I think season 4 tag could be “You kill or you die. Or you die, then you kill.”
I did not notice the first time I watched, but the kid was running point for the Governor in the tombs. The flash bangs blinded and scared the Woodbury “soldiers” and when they ran, the Governor kept shouting for them to hold their ground. Then, when he was blowing the horn and demanding that they pull over and stop, they kept running at full speed and had no intentions of returning to the prison to fight. Governor had lost control of his people and because he views resistance as betrayal, he executed them. The lone woman survived because the gun clicked on empty when Gov tried to fire it at her.
After watching it again, it’s obvious that Carl was angry at the beginning of the episode because Rick would not let him fight with the grown-ups. I think Carl has begun to think like Governor that you either kill or you die. Carl did not need to, as Hershel put it, “gun the kid down” at that moment.
Rick: Was he handing it over? Carl: I couldn’t take the chance. I didn’t kill the walker that killed Dale. Look what happened. Rick: Son, that is not the same . . . Carl: You didn’t kill Andrew and he came back and killed mom. You were in a room with the governor and you let him go and then he killed Merle. I did what I had to do. *in a dismissive tone to Rick* Now go. So he doesn’t kill any more of us. *walks away as he tosses the badge in the dirt*
When Rick returned with the Woodbury residents, Carl angrily walked away, but Hershel stood by the entrance to the prison and greeted the newcomers.

That was excellent, Timmy. Knowing how much Michael Rooker hated to wear that prosthetic arm, I'm even more impressed. And Andy's Richter's final line was a superb payoff.

Timmy, the video clip is hilarious. Merle shocked me when he grabbed the woman from the audience!

I'm still giggling over Rooker's line about Melissa McBride (Carol) "Plus, she's good at other things too." Terribly inapropriate, but just like something Merle would say.

Yep, and he called Conan "bro" when talking about the basketball stunt double.

Yes, the idea of calling someone 'bro' just after you've shot someone else because you thought they were you is just brilliant.
