I have to agree with critics who said that this episode felt more like a season finale than just episode 4. That's how good it was. Sunday night's show was a feast, even for me, and I've read all of the books, so I was not surprised at the actual story itself. I knew what happens when Dany bargains to buy the UnSullied, for example. 99 times out of 100 your mind will create a more vivid scene while reading or listening than you could ever be shown on the screen. That's why radio drama works so well. But they blew that concept out of the water for me in this episode. I was not able to see correctly in my mind what 8000 Unsullied warriors would look like, and they showed it to me better than I ever could have imagined. I knew that Brienne became more sympathetic towards the Kingslayer, Jaime Lannister, after his right hand was cut off, but I never saw it like I did when actress Gwendoline Christie showed it to us, using mostly her eyes. It was the opposite experience with the death of Knight's Watch leader Mormant at Craster's place. I had imagined that death as much more of a huge event than we saw. The version we saw on the screen was much more matter of fact, and more understandable and realistic than mine. The same with Danys dragon killing his new 'master.' It is such a rare treat to have a show give you more than you had imagined. I'm a happy camper, and looking forward to Littlefinger and Sansa's adventures at the Eyrie, and the Red Wedding.

The horrors befalling the Night's Watch have shocked me. I thought they would be the great defenders of the North, but the scene in which Mormant was killed served as a reminder that some of the Watch joined out of desperation. I am not judging them because I realize they were starving, cold and afraid. I just never expected them to kill each other. The title of the episode is certainly appropriate. The scene where Daenerys took revenge on the slave masters was truly amazing. I loved that entire sequence. When she revealed that she spoke Valyrian, I thought of the hundred base insults that had been aimed at her. That was when I knew for certain that she would never trade her dragon. She did not disappoint me. I enjoyed the other scenes also. Varys revelation about the sorceror who had cut him was an interesting lesson for Tyrion about having patience. I am amused by people's shock that Podrick is a great lover. Lady Margery is clever enough to survive as a wife to Joffrey wherein Sansa would have been miserable. I enjoy seeing Margery manipulate Joffrey and as I anticipated, Cersei is jealous of her. Tywin's remark that Cersei is not as smart as she thinks and that he will control Joffrey has me anticipating the fireworks. What is to become of Brienne and Jaime? I do not understand the reason behind the ruse when Theon was released and returned to captivity. Confusing.

The news about Podrick's 'abilities' was a surprise, as that's not in the books, and gathered more than a smile from me.
I agree with you about Daenerys scene with the Unsullied. I just recently watched it again, and am still struck at how masterful and fun it was to behold.
In the books I have enjoyed Danys story most of all, but have had some questions along the way as to whether she was going to become one of the 'good' characters or one of the 'evil' ones, and this episode helped me to get better feedback on the path she's on. She has definitely become a leader after that episode. And seems to have both might and right on her side at this point.
One of my favorite scenes is the one between Varys and Margery's mother (played by the venerable Lady Diana Riggs.) We have two master manipulators coming together here. They both know how the 'game of thrones' is played. It was a joy to behold.
If these two were to ever join forces, woe be unto those they counted as their enemies.
