I enjoyed the episode. I like the fact that Charlie became very interested in the supernatural and sought help from the Winchesters rather than hunt alone. She has been on her own since the age of 12 and I think some of her original flippancy was a way to cover up the pain she deals with because of her guilt over her parents' accident. I absolutely love her telling Dean that she loves him. He needs affection and I was really touched by that. It's about time they continued the story line that monsters are evolving. This Djinn fed on fear and that revealed Dean's biggest fear is Sam's illness. He worries so much about Sam and I understand why he wants Sam to stay home and recuperate. Sam had promised to be truthful with Dean about the side effects of the trials so I am a little disturbed that Sam kept saying he was alright when he obviously wasn't. But Sam was right where he was needed when the young Djinn showed up so it turned out okay. They have not forgotten Castiel and I got a chuckle out of the Carver Edlund references, especially Sam's bad luck with women. I am a wee bit surprised that they bring people to their hideout. The only person I would expect them to bring there would be Kevin so he would be safe. Edit: Dean's comment about a pair of clippers for Sam's hair was funny. Also, Sam was funny when he hit the target background but missed the outline of the man and said either good enough or close enough and got to the site before Dean and Charlie.

That would certainly be an interesting modification to our list of poll responses and it would apply to some episodes from previous seasons.

I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by this episode, it was much better than I thought it would be. I was worried it would be silly because of the game aspect but it was nothing like I thought it would be.
I am going to start out shallow- I think Jensen and Jared are both looking better with age, these are some very attractive men. I think Sam at the beginning was gorgeous with his hair all messed up. I though most of the Sam and Dean moments were very good in this, I am liking Charlie more, I still don't want her to be a character they use all the time, but I am OK with her every so often. I loved how even though Sam was in bad shape, he still tried as hard as he could to be a part of the hunting world, he still felt the need to get out there and help people. He went out there knowing he wasn't 100% and knowing that Dean would be mad at him, yet he went anyway.
The case part was OK, once they started focusing on the coroner more I suspected there was more to her. I loved the part with Dean and Charlie when she was trying on clothes, Jensen's facial expressions were great! I loved how Dean kind of put himself out there with Charlie, trying to talk to her and telling her what she should do, when he knew he couldn't do the same with Sam. I loved how he tried to keep Sam safe and for me the best moment of the whole episode was the unexpected hug at the end with Dean and Sam, that was such a surprise and I thought it was wonderful. Dean wasn't mad, he was "telling " Sam that they would be fight together.
There were so many good moments in this one, that I really didn't mind that it was a filler. I can't wait for the last three, the next one looks intense!

Very good episode. ;D It had me wondering are the trials changing Sam into something else. Maybe the reason he had to be the one to do them is his demon blood, vision thingy. Dean doesn't have supernatural powers so maybe he wasn't strong enough to transform into something else. Sam has always wanted to be normal and was hoping after the trials were completed he would be able to have his normal life. But I think he will be completely changed into a new type of supernatural force of good. But back on point. I loved that we got insight into who Charlie is. I always enjoyed her character the back story with her parents made me enjoy her more. I love the sister type relationship she has with the boys. It was great the way Dean help Charlie through the ordeal in her head. Much like the relationship between Dean and Krissy there is something special about the relationship between Dean and Charlie. Then Dean comes back to the bat cave or Men of letters cave and gives Sam that hug what a great moment. Also major kudos to the writers for remembering the history of the show and incorporating it into this episode. We had Jinn, Dream root and the Craver Edlund novels seasons six and seven also seem isolated from the rest of the series, this season respects the past of season, I like that. So funny that the Craver Edlund stories on now on-line, they are gospel so God wants then out int he world. My find comment is being a dedicated geek; I loved the Wilhelm scream line Charlie gave. This is a reference to a scream that was recorded in 1951 and has been used in over 200 Hollywood movies including the original Star Wars movies.

Thanks, Evil1. I learn so much from Supernatural fans. When I re-watch the episode, I am going to be on the look-out for the Wilhelm scream. It's funny the books are on-line, but who would believe that stuff, except for Charlie and Becky?
