Honestly, we had more honesty in this episode than in the entire season. Felicity revealed she is good at counting cards. I guess she is not as squeaky clean as I thought, but good for her. She knows where Diggle lives and is not afraid to approach him. I enjoyed Felicity telling the casino boss that he was not going to like her partner. Laura confessed that she really does love Tommy - that was a shock to me. Tommy told Laura the truth - that he left her because she belongs with Oliver. Diggle revealed he was still hurt and would not return to Oliver's side until Oliver personally approached him. Mommy Dearest inadvertently revealed the truth about her knowledge of Walter's disappearance. I enjoyed this episode from beginning to end. I liked Arrow's fight with the casino guys, especially when he sent the guard sliding to the entrance of the boss' office. Nicely done. Then, the heroic rescue of Walter. The rooftop landing was a nice way of catching the guard unaware. Arrow's fighting skills were magnificent and culminated in seeing Walter alive. I was surprised that the rescue was made public because the family is still in danger. I could tell Oliver wanted to slug Tommy's father, but Tommy's father was definitely a match for Arrow the last time they met. When will Arrow learn who he really is? Saved the best for last - Oliver admitted to Diggle that Diggle was right "about everything" and he honestly admitted that he needs Diggle. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Fuzzy? Nah, just warm. If there was a poll, I would have given it the top rating.

Yes! If there was a poll I would have given it an OVER the top rating!
Excellent assessment I must say, Astounding Angel!
And "Honesty".
Yes. VERY good way to describe it!
INCLUDING when Felicity was at the underground casino and her slip was showing....
(...wait for it...)
Her Freudean "slip" was showing!!!!
Her obvious lust for Oliver? Revealed in the Banter about the earpiece?
...You will laugh later...
...I promise.
I knew Felicity would go to Diggle and try to smooth things over between Diggle and Oliver, and she explained to Diggle how Oliver needed him...and Diggle left it up to Oliver to come to him and apologise...
...and Felicity mentioned that Oliver was "religious" about not admitting he was wrong...
...so it all looked bleak on that front...
I too enjoyed Felicity telling the casino boss that he was not going to like her partner...
...so smug he was...momentarily...right up to the moment when Oliver hit the bullseye in the dartboard behind the casino boss and the casino boss said "I heard you never missed." and Oliver said: "I don't."
*cue exploding arrow*
...BOOM...
Smugness over for the badguy.
THEN the rollercoaster ride Felicity and Oliver went on when the casino boss said that Walter was dead...
...and THEN Oliver told his "Mommy Dearest" (*laughing* good one!) and his sister and then his Mom stormed off...and I thought he would follow her...but then he stayed with his sister, so I thought he wouldn't follow her.
Then it turned out that he did follow her...and heard everything...FINALLY knowing who the bad guys were!!!!!
Well...
...EXCEPT for the part that Tommy's dad is the Dark Archer...
...but that will come.
And Felicity having to digest it all on the spot...after Oliver had some time to process it.
Walter is alive...Tommy's dad is a bad guy...
AND SUCH AWESOME FIGHT SCENES!!!!!!!!
First in the casino...
THEN THE RESCUE OF WALTER....
Oliver was off the charts...
...more than a bit ticked I would assume...and venting some pent up frustration.
Laurel loves Tommy?
She goes from Tommy is just trying to get into her pants...
...to she loves Tommy?
Really?
I am confused.
I thought Oliver would wimp out and agree to tell Tommy that Oliver does not love Laurel...
But he didn't.
THAT part made sense.
Laurel...?
....Not so much.
Of course...I have ALWAYS been confused why a girl would go for a shallow horny guy when there is a guy who loves her and sacrifices for her...
And yes...VERY wonderful scene between Diggles and Oliver.
So...
Will "Mommy Dearest" *still makes me laugh* seek out the vigilante to get him to help her stop "the undertaking"?
Or will Oliver confront his mother?

Darwin, as you promised, I did laugh, more than once, at the Freudian slip. I have pondered the Laurel loves Tommy revelation and wonder when that happened. I thought she was accepting Tommy because there was no prospects for her to be with Oliver/Arrow. Perhaps Tommy's willingness to change in order to win her heart made her fall in love with him. But she has not convinced me that she is not in love with Oliver. Duly noted - girls go for shallow horny guys - but that is just for a temporary thrill, yes?. P.S. Wardrobe did an excellent job of giving young Oliver the preppy look - at first, I was not sure that was Amell.

And I agree on the wardrobe issue... AND Laurel looked noticeably younger too! I was amazed that they had not "island" flashbacks but it was sooo fitting that they had all of those flashbacks with his dad... *laughs* Temporary thrill? I often wondered if girls knew that the "temporary thrill shallow horny guys" actually LIKE to rub such tales of temporary thrills in the face of the loving devoted guy...as in... "Got there first...Can't wait to get there again" And then if the loving devoted guy gets the least bit upset... ...then HE'S the bad guy... ...and the girl sometimes even PROTECTS/DEFENDS the shallow horny guy... ...(I hope THAT is widely recognized as a big protruding and painfully OBVIOUS mistake...in NEON....as that is LAYERS of trust erosion)... Then either the loving devoted guy entertains thoughts of being like Arrow on a rampage....(Smugness SO-over for the badguy)... ...or dump the girl because of too much drama-baggage of guys still sniffing around... Tommy was obviously sniffing around Laurel EVEN when she was with Oliver...and then when Oliver went missing... ...shallow horny guy Tommy was there to "comfort" her... ...right out of her clothes. BUT... Oliver was a HUGE jerk to Laurel with Laurel's sister (who they didn't even pay to come back for the flashback!!!) AND ALL BECAUSE she suggested they get a place of their own!!!!! THAT was cowardly. Stupid. Slimey. Did I say stupid? It was SOOOOO stupid. But at least he ADMITTED as much when he said that Laurel and Tommy should do what Laurel and Oliver didn't do...which was talk about what was going on... Then Oliver had the guts to admit that he still loved Laurel. Now the ball is in Laurel's court...so to speak. I also wonder why...from flashbacks to the island...when he turned down the advances of that girl...because he was still in love with Laurel... ...why didn't he KEEP that attitude when he was back and Laurel was in the vicinity? He would have avoided that whole "psycho-ex girlfriend" (as Diggles refers to her). I would have to say on the whole that Oliver is MORE of a screw-up than Laurel...relationship wise.

Ladies know that guys gloat and agitate – about sports, yes; about someone’s lady, no way. That is a revelation to me. However, if the shallow horny dude is always charming in the lady’s presence, she might not believe he can be a jerk. A lady wants to believe that she is the special one, he just wants to remain friends, and "he won't hurt me".
While openly admitting that they had been playboys and jerks, both Tommy and Oliver were charming when they were in Laurel's presence and were pretty convincing that Laurel was the "special" one. But, we have seen another side to both of them. Tommy has exhibited a resentful and unforgiving nature and Oliver can be selfish and vengeful. He is still my champion in spite of that.

A lady wants to believe that she is the special one, he just wants to remain friends, and "he won't hurt me". * Thinks upon what you have said* Thank-you for the insight...
For the sake of the ladies...I would think that for their own self-interest and peace of mind...perhaps the bar should be raised on the definition of "special one".
Even if simply approached mathematically...if a shallow horny guy has more than one "special one"...MANY...in fact... that he just wants to remain "friends" with...then that alone makes it cease to be "special"...
...when he is unable to get into one pair of pants...he has other options...on HIS terms with no committment or sacrifice for the relationship...
...and perhaps the ladies "spider-sense" could tingle that a con is on.
Like Laurel sensed Tommy just wanted to get back into her pants.
Charming Shallow Horny Guy's selfish self-interest only hold a lady back. Tommy claimed he wanted to be a "self made man"...but he quit work on that WAY too early...thus the "man" was never made. Tommy wanted independance from his controlling father...went to Oliver...Oliver said he would share his trust fund...Tommy insisted on working...so Oliver gave him a job managing the nightclub... BUT... Oliver reveals his identity as Arrow to Tommy to help Tommy save his father...and Tommy freaks...saying things like "but you are a murderer.." ...and Tommy is one of Oliver's oldest friends. Felicity knew Arrow killed people...found out Oliver was Arrow...but Felicity...NOT one of Oliver's oldest friends...heard him out. THEN Tommy resents Oliver for wondering if Tommy was dealing drugs out of the club...and Oliver has good reason to wonder...but Tommy is offended SO much that he gives up on being independant from his father and goes to his father for a job. THEN things start to get SERIOUS with Laurel...which is what Tommy SAID he wanted...and he bolts...which validates Laurel's original instinct that Tommy was just trying to get back into her pants...and he succeeded with his con. Hence my RECOMMENDATION that Charming shallow horny guys should be held to a higher standard...ladies should raise the bar significantly...so they are not simply "conned" into feeling special...but hold out for evidence that they actually ARE SPECIAL. *I HOPE YOU APPRECIATE THAT REVEALING THESE TRUTHS IS GOING TO GET ME KICKED OUT OF THE CLUBHOUSE! - (But it is not really a club I want to belong to...I'll stick to being a sincere and loving and devoted...gentleman.) ...And yes...Oliver did do the same thing to Laurel years ago...things got serious and he bolted... But... ...Oliver sees and recognizes his flaws and is fixing them... Oliver is motivated to commit to REAL change. Oliver has grown and matured and is WAY farther down the "self-made man" path than Tommy. Ladies know that guys gloat and agitate – about sports, yes; about someone’s lady, no way. That is a revelation to me.Some examples: Guy: "Oh hey! Please thank your girlfriend for me again! I was in a bind for a photography project that was due.."The Nude in Nature"...so she came out to the woods with me and posed. It was OKAY though...I mean, we HAD SEX before...so it wasn't like I was seeing anything new...She said you guys were waiting until marriage for the whole sex thing! She was real happy you respect her so much! I guess I probably shouldn't show these naked pictures of her to you then...You'll want to wait until it's legal! She is STILL smoking hot! Lots of fine memories THERE I'll tell you! But you'll know soon enough..." While speaking to the Girl: "Oh! He told you about that! That is wonderful! He probably wanted to be upfront and honest ...he's such a great guy! I was going to discuss it with you first, but he said he was on a deadline...and I didn't think you would mind. He's my friend and nothing happened. You do trust me, don't you?" ****Nothing happened...except that she was helping him undermine OUR relationship because SHE had blinders on when it came to him. *rolls eyes* (Another) Guy: "Hey! We met the other day! I'm your fiance's friend! WE go WAY back...in fact...I gave her her first orgasm!!!!! And several since. If she starts talking about the beach being her favorite vacation place...you'll know why." (Another) Girl: "He told you that? he probably just wanted to honest and have it out there and in the open so it wouldn't become a problem later! He's such a wonderful guy." *rolls eyes*

Thank you, Darwin, for your delightfully informative insider tips on how to interpret clues when a shallow horny guy is lurking. How often have we ladies appeared clueless? The "temporary thrill" is always followed by pain and, yes, we should hold those guys to a higher standard. I have been told that guys enjoy the thrill of the chase and I thought about that when Tommy was pursuing Laurel. Perhaps the chase is just a game to the shallow guys and your description of Tommy is perfect. As you pointed out, Laurel was aware of Tommy's motives, but she became involved anyway. Now, once again, she is suffering. I appreciate you breaking the "guy code" and your examples are priceless! Some examples: Guy: "Oh hey! (Another) Girl: "He told you that? he probably just wanted to honest and have it out there and in the open so it wouldn't become a problem later! He's such a wonderful guy." *rolls eyes* I am now thoroughly convinced that the sincere guys are the ones who get hurt and develop major trust issues when the shallow guys are sniffing around. I hope you will not think I am insensitive when I tell you that by the end of the examples I was laughing because one of your previous statements kept going through my mind: That would be an appropriate response.

No...you are NOT insensitive!
*laughing*
*smiles HUGE*
AND I Agree with your logic...
...except for here...
...I would label it as...hopeful?
And shallow horny guys take advantage.
(Forewarned is fore-armed)
*smiles*
