I had forgotten they were making this but I've seen commercials.
Kristin doesn't appear to be in it and Tom isn't Clark, so I'm not interested.

Maybe it's just "Smallville", but this is so tempting I almost want to go to a theater to see this.
I don't like the cost of a theater, though, or being around other people. It'll probably be noisy too.

There is nothing in the 'verse that would keep me away from this movie. I will be there in the theater on opening day. I can't wait. I cannot even imagine what it must be like for Russell Crowe, knowing that he is standing in the footsteps of Marlon Brando.

Brand new trailer just released today shows us a little more of the spectacle we will see in the new film:

Yet more new footage here in the UK TV trailer:
"You will give them an ideal to strive towards."
That's exactly what Superman has always been for me. That line of voice-over by Jor-El resonates in my soul.

big shoes to fill after that crap-fest the usually reliable Bryan Singer gave with Superman Returns.... just remember, Bri, making a sequel to a 20 year old movie REALLY IS as bad as it sounds..... now if they take a page from Chris Nolan and model things on THE ANIMATED SERIES universe, they should be ok..... but will they? he's listed as a producer on this one, so they should.... and FYI, the Flash in JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED is much better... that one reminds me of someone else from SMALLVILLE for some reason... must be jimmy olsen or Pete Ross... or is it???

I don't know how I could get more pumped up about this movie than I already am. Heck, I went to see Superman Returns twice in the movie theater. And although it didn't hang together as well as a movie as it should have, it contained some of the best Superman scenes filmed to date: the airplane rescue, the bullet to the eye. Remember?
Here's the latest Man of Steel trailer. Love the heat vision shot at the very end.

remember? uh, no... just because a guy has an S on his chest does not automatically mean it's any good..... Shaquille O'Neal, I'm looking at you!!! Shaq playing basically the Tony Stark of the DC universe is just sinful on so many levels.... Steel's daughter is a no-good slut, but that's another story!

and the fools.... they had a PERFECT recipe for starting a new Superman series, not to mention Batman and the JUSTICE LEAGUE under their noses and they choose to ignore it. Ironically, also called MAN OF STEEL.... they've ignored it for 25 years. that's why MARVEL had a huge hit with THE AVENGERS and the Marvel Film universe, and DC has THE DARK KNIGHT and little else....

As much as I would love to see this, when you add together the cost, and being around who knows how many other people, and then the noise an action movie is certain to have ...
I'm waiting.

I saw the movie this morning. I enjoyed it and there are people in the movie that were on Smallville. I really like Henry Cavill as Superman. He is not hard to look at.

I enjoyed the movie very much and the time went by quickly.
I was pleasantly surprised that Christopher Nolan helped to write the movie and produced it. He must be a big fan.
Lois Lane was not nervewrecking - for a change. The soundtrack was very loud though.
P.S. The movie crowd must have been as enthralled as I was because they did not talk during the movie.

I just heard Mike Huckabee say the movie has been critcized as pro-Christian because the father in Heaven sent his Son to save the world.
I guess they didn't know the creators of Superman were Jewish.

Kyle, that is very interesting. Whoever said the movie is pro-Christian either did not watch the movie or did not understand the movie. Jor-El did say his son would need to make the right choice to do good and he could help the people of Earth.
It is a really good movie and I did not detect any religious overtones at all.

I just read a review of the movie which made it sound like it wasn't very good. I haven't seen the review online since this particular paper allows only five articles a month for free, and I don't want to take any chances.
The man said scenes with Jonathan were the best thing, and Martha was good too. He didn't like Lois simply because she looked like an "Office" character, but that wasn't a problem for anyone but him. He liked that the John Williams theme was finally given a rest. And he said this Zod was better than Brando.
But the said the script was bad and the movie was way too long. A lot of the action and noise could have been removed and the movie could have been two-thirds the length. I knew I was right not going to a theater because of the noise. If anyone REALLY wants to see the online review I could take a chance and get the link.

I am watching The Man of Steel tonight and will provide real-time comments as I watch. Don't know that I will finish this evening, but here goes.
Beware, spoilers lie here. Opening segment on Krypton. I love that Jor-El is an asskicker. And who more could you ask for as that than Russel Crowe?
I am a huge Michael Shannon fan, and so far, as Zod, I'd have to say this is the best role I've seen him in, and yes, that's including Boardwalk Empire.
Following the footsteps of Terrence Stamp as Zod is a huge undertaking, but all you need is one look into the crazy eyes of Shannon as Zod to tell you that he's bringing it.
Interesting to see the elements of fantasy creatures like the dragon riders in Eragon into the Krypton scenes. Except these seem more like insects, right?
So far the elements of Krypton's council as being hoplessly stuck in the mud as the planet is being destroyed is right on track with what we comic readers now.
They are like Nero fiddling as Rome burns.
The first element of grace we see in a story that is full of them is the sacrifice of Jor-El and Lara, sending a son they will never get to know across the galaxies to a new world.
Much as we might see Moses being sent on the river Nile in a basket, or even God sending his only begotton son in the Bible, Jor-El says to Lara, "He will be like a god to them." So, we see sacrifice, we see love, and something bigger than our individual selves in this opening sequence.
I love seeing Lara as a hero here, too. She is too often given short shrift. We've got a kickass Lara, too.
I like that we see the kind of flying robots that help Jor-El and Lara on Krypton, much like the robots we know from the comics in the Fortress of Solitude.
I'm 40 minutes into the movie, and that's enough for tonight--to be continued tomorrow.

I loved this movie when I saw it in the theatre and I knew I would watch it again on DVD.
The first time I watched the opening scenes, when Jor-El went to great lengths to retrieve the Codex and make sure it accompanied Kal-El(sp) to the planet with the yellow sun, I had no idea of its significance. Now, watching the beginning of the movie, the scenes are more exciting because I can appreciate how brilliantly they were portrayed.

I spell it Kyle myself, but that's also related to the name I chose when The CW boards began.
